  1. Their latest blog: http://fredhatman.co.za/?p=2480 They are also running a competition to raise funds. Well worth the R25 ticket cost. "So they came up with this cracking idea? they have organised an online raffle in which you can buy a ticket to be in line to win one of these stunning prizes? * Three nights at a wonderful villa in Camps Bay, Cape Town, courtesy of Cape Realty * Two nights at the Constantia Boutique Hotel, courtesy of The Last Word * A weekend away at Friday island Resort * A chef for the night, courtesy of Capsicum Cooking * Golf lessons, courtesy of Cape Town Golf Academy * R800 voucher for an authentic Tretchikoff print, courtesy of VladimirTretchikoff.com * R500 Spa voucher, courtesy of Health Spa Guru * A signed Ajax Cape Town football shirt, courtesy of Ajax Cape Town * A half-day tour around the Cape Peninsula, courtesy of Executive Touring * A prize courtesy of Wildcard (TBC) *** Ticket prices are R25 each All you need to do to enter is mosey on over to this hastily-made but effective website page to buy a ticket! Nice. You each give R25 to help us finish our mad unicycle adventure and you could win ? I am sure you will agree ? a really, really cool prize. I like this. A competition in which there are no losers. Because even, if by some cruel twist of fate ? and that is highly unlikely to happen to YOU ? you don?t land up swanning around a Camps Bay villa for a couple of days, you?ll have WON the satisfaction of knowing you helped us to help people who don?t have the same number of limbs that you and I have. Phenomenalness, isn?t it? Yes, it is."
  2. This is really upsetting. Hope your friend is okay. Cyclesport had a meeting with the police about all these attacks in January. Not sure what the outcome was though. See https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=72133&KW
  3. This was taken last week at Groenies (sorry no animals in the pic). We are really fortunate to be able to ride there.
  4. Thanks. Not me! Yes, it is Groenies. You can hire mtb bikes there so give it a go some day.
  5. Sorry. Come join me next Thursday morning. Ride starts at 6 am.
  6. Unfortunately the closest mtb routes in that area is where there have been a few bike jackings. Contact Epic Sports as they have a few afternoon mtb rides and they are not far from Die Hoewes.
  7. The latest blogpost: http://fredhatman.co.za/?p=2459 (http://twitpic.com/1271s4)
  8. http://www.hellopeter.com/comp_report.php?company=3mobile&period=365&page=5 Looks like there are numerous complaints about them.
  9. You are correct, Holy.
  10. I'm sure we could make a plan to courier the cake up here.
  11. Just got this email. You can contact Simon on simon at northernfarm dot co dot za if you are willing and able to help out. "It is clear from the tone of some of the e mails I receive that many are unaware that I am a volunteer who has voluntarily taken on the responsibility of coordinating the mtb trails at Northern Farm as well as the interaction of the mtb community with the other interest groups involved in the farm, rather they believe that I am a paid employee. Recent events at the farm, and the behaviour and expectations of cyclists using the farm have resulted in a substantially higher volume of work than normal. The security patrols and guards have to be monitored. The trails have to be maintained and e mails have to be responded to, sometimes in excess of 100 per week. Where do we buy tickets, how far are the new routes, what security problems are there? The bike wash has to be staffed and monitored, problems with mountainbikers entering through the back gates without paying resolved. Things are lost, from bicycle wheels to car parcel trays, and need to be found and the owners need to be communicated with. Frankly things have got to the point where it is more than a full time job for one person, a job for which I do not get paid. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Other than Tony Deetlefs, who assists with the routes and trails, we have no other volunteers on the mountainbike side of Northern Farm, sad when you consider how many cyclists use the farm. For that reason I am sending out this appeal for volunteers to assist me. We need assistance with the monitoring of the security patrols and the bike wash, answering e mails and sending out newsletters. We also need help with marking and maintaining trails. Anybody who is willing and able to help, please contact me by the end of this week so that we can set up a meeting to coordinate everyones efforts and try and re-establish Northern Farm as a pleasant word in my dictionary! Regards Simon Nash"
  12. They have reached Grahamstown. Here's the latest blog post: http://fredhatman.co.za/?p=2436

  14. There have unfortunately been many attacks around that side of Centurion. Some of these attacks have been on groups of more than two riders. Here's a couple of options: https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=63350 http://www.fritzpienaarcycles.com/cms/content/view/24/86/ Tuesday: 06:00am: MTB Club Ride (Medium) Saturday: 6:00am: MTB Club Ride (Various Levels) Cyclelab has mtb rides on Saturday mornings. I think it is 4 hr/2hr and beginners. Grant Cycles has Sunday morning mtb rides.
  15. Wooohooo! The Heart and Sole Tour is back on the road! Yay! http://fredhatman.co.za/?p=2388

    Hub rides

I'm keen on the Groenies ride. How far into the future are you planning this? I've got some strict training plans I need to adhere to for the next six weeks.
  17. Beautiful! I never get bored of looking at sunrises and sunsets. This pic needs the backing track "What a wonderful world" by Louis Armstrong.
  18. Great vid of Geoff explaining the reason why they are doing this tour: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvRpVUvsSBQ
  19. Not the clearest of pics but hope this helps. The clear outer cover is almost invisible here.
  20. Well done guys. He sounds much more comfortable on the 29'er.
  21. Zeal, have you tried using the official TACX forum or this website: http://www.cykelmaraton.dk/filehost.htm?
  22. This quote sums it up best: Is your saddle the right size and fit to start with?
