  1. If you train with power, it does not matter. 300 watt is 300 watt of effort, regardless of weight or aerodynamics. If no power meter, do not train with aero wheels - according to Zipp, the aero saving of 30 watt (for example) over shallow rims will mean that riders tend to under train by 30 watt on all their rides
  2. Niner or Rocky Mountain, if it was my money
  3. Niner or Rocky Mountain, if it was my money
  4. I rode one long ago with a silver alu fork, it is quite harsh, very hard on arms, neck and shoulders. The ride feel is better with a carbon fork.
  5. Ive bought a brand new Eddy Merckx Alu Team. This is a timeless classic, this one was still built in the factory in Belgium, before Eddy sold the business. I am still contemplating a build, but I have a beautiful Record Ti seatpost and a nice 1" carbon fork. I will probably use a 10x Record gruppo also from the cupboard, but I am thinking about swapping the carbon levers for some older alu levers, and perhaps a silver bar and stem to complete a classic look.
  6. The gruppo & those frames come from the same place, these days. Capitalism will do that.
  7. I agree with the pigdog. Its never easy to compare players current and past. Klusner played when there were less power plays / fielding restrictions, and only 1 ball for 50 overs, and before t20 and the impact it had on the game existed. He was the best finisher in ODI cricket at his peak, which is why I would put him on the list. He has a better batting average and strike rate than Hansie, and better bowling stats. I would put him in before Hansie.
  8. Zulu! He must be on the odi list, for sure, good call Sniffie. He almost won the 1999 world cup on his own, plus rescued many odi games for us. Too bad his career came to an early end / started to slide because he did not get along with Smith. That was in the early days of Smith's captaincy and Smith was a real arrogant ass back then. (Im glad he toned he attitude down a lot since then) I would have loved to see what Zulu could do in T20.
  9. For a momentthere I thought this was about Horner.
  10. Unless Warne was bowling....
  11. Jonty Rhodes can also perhaps make the list.
  12. My riding buddies had 3 Tallboys crack between them, all on the top tube (replaced under warranty) They have also cracked 1x Giant and 1x Momsen alu hardtails.
  13. I hope you are refering to Cullinan, and not Kallis! In which case I agree. Regarding the rest of your list, Im not sure How Hansie will be remembered by the international cricket community. He was a great player, and on his way to greatness, but was also corrupt like many figures of authority in SA. (at least Hansie confessed he did wrong, but Im not sure if we heard it all)
  14. Well, the way the team won made Cullinan look like an ass. What a fantastic way for JK to end his test career. Didnt Smith say something along the lines of "Dale and Vern chose to draw the test?" They played a big part in winning this one.
  15. Jip. Cullinan was out of the squad for a year or so with poor form and injury. He got recalled, and speculation was that he was asked to captain the side, too. He flew to Cape Town and joined the squad. He then informed CSA the day before the match that he wont play without a long term contract. He flew back to Jhb that same day, and never played for SA again.
  16. Ive done a bit of research on the interwebs: the freehub body and pawls seems to be a serious problem on Tune rear hubs, best to stay far away from a Tune rear hub. There are few reports of problems with the front hub.
  17. Insane catch, that. 8 wickets to get, lets hope for a full day's play tomorrow. Dale, Vern and Morkel must get them, perhaps a few to JK too. Our spinners looked a bit bland compared to Jadeja.
  18. A 100 that brought tears to my eyes :-) Im glad for the great JK to go out on a high. I never was a Cullinan fan, even if he was a good player. He was also offered the captaincy of SA, but flew back home just before his first match because he wanted a long term contract as well. I think history will be the ultimate judge of who was great and who not. Imo Kallis will still be talked about 50 years from now.
  19. SA scoring EXTREMELY slowly since AB got out. That is not going to help for a win. Defensive fields set by Doni, but I dont like how easily we got contained by an all rounder and a part timer. We need to score 250+ tomorrow, but them in before the close and bowl them out.
  20. Tune King = R1700, Kong = R3500, abouk 3k less than a set of Chris Kings.
  21. Nobody mentioned Tune King&Kong hubs. I have seen a few on xc bikes - are they any good? I dont think they take a thru axle, though. Also, any comments on Chris King hubs? Expensive, but they look nice. Im considering some for my next build, but are they worth the money?
  22. QdK is the superstar in the making, a slot is now open, the most talented batsmen should get it. Either him in the lower order, or David Miller at 4.
  23. I agree, I would select any of those guys over Thami. But that wont score any political points with the government. I think Tsolikile will play as a quota player. If I had to choose, I would go with AB at 4, Faf 5, JP 6, QdK at 7. JP to bowl more, with 4 frontline bowlers. The bowling selections must be done with more care, without a Kallis to bail us out if some bowlers are ineffective like Peterson and Philander were today.
  24. It will be interesting to see how they bowl - wicket looked dead, and they dont have al lot of pace. It is taking turn, though, but they dont have a front line spinner. Peterson was disappointing, Jadeja might bowl better. In hindsight, Tahir would perhaps have been the better option?
  25. Look, its the Dale Steyn show on channel 212!
