  1. Niner, otherwise On One Inbred if cost is an issue
  2. I am trying really hard to see something but have to concur, it does look easier to walk back a few meters.
  3. Some heavy NW winds predicted for later today. The poor guys at the back are going to get hammered
  4. I don't think we are missing point. But in addition, you do make a good point. There can be more than one point, yes, otherwise it's just pointless
  5. And I am sure you were wearing black socks too. Just goes to show. **** really does happen.
  6. Burry also wears white socks. Well, he did yesterday at the prologue at least. And he also rides a 29er with much rubber. Now what?
  7. Yeah, I think we sometimes assume things, and soon everyone regurgitates it so much that we actually believe it without any facts at hand. If they did cut corners with weight, well, then they have paid the price. But from where I am sitting, it doesn't seem to be the case. Just wasn't their day.
  8. Assuming it is the Renegades, the heaviest option for that tyre (listed here http://www.specializ....jsp?spid=57082) is 470g. So it is still lighter than the Ikon tyres. So did they (360Life) try and cut corners with weight, or not?
  9. Does anyone know which tyres are in use by Burry. Would like to know what they weigh, to see if the "it's because of the lighter tyre" theory is actually a valid one. That is what most are thinking right? It's because of the tyre choice?
  10. Just try harder. C'mon. Kidding. The SS suggestion is a good one though.
  11. Not a bad idea, some people actually do it. You will notice on the photos that most people seem to have a little bit of extra fat. It is on purpose (well, for some at least), and makes all the difference. Just not as easily achievable for all I live here, so can fortunately train in the ocean .... when I train that is. Haven't been in the water for a while EDIT: Have been in the water, just not for swim training per se.
  12. Sharks are the least of your worries
  13. If you do a shorter event, or a team relay, then a wetsuit is allowed. But if you want to do a solo channel crossing, then no suit.
  14. Can confirm that 2012 event has been cancelled
  15. I have tried. And failed. The distance is not a problem. The problem is, it is channel swimming rules. No wetsuit. So you are looking at around 3 hours in the water with bare skin mostly. In training I could go up to just over an hour, and then it starts going pear shaped very quickly from there. A bit of body fat will go a long way to help, of which I have none. After some training sessions it would take me around 3 hours to stop shaking and warm up again. I really thought I could, hitting the 1 hour mark and feeling solid, just to be near hypothermia 15 minutes later. Amazing how, when your core drops below a certain point it just tickets. In a few minutes. There are days when the water is warmer though, and on those days I could make it. But I don't want to have to bank on getting a warm water day to make it. Perhaps one day I can learn to do it. Suspect I will have to pick up 5-7kg at least though .....
  16. Check out this chop, logging a flight as a run :-) http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/43629015
  17. I once had to send a camera back. Got charged again. It can be avoided, but your mileage may vary.
  18. It is going to take me a while before I can go down there ... if ever. Maybe it's just the angle of the photo, but it seems straight down, over logs. Respect though
  19. I followed in the trail of a friend once .... didn't work. Still can't fathom how he got down some parts, riding at full speed. I just couldn't do it
