  1. OH yeah, it's real. There are a few different flavors too! And Fridays we get cake and doughnuts.
  2. Suppose you have time to kill or spend reading threads (which, by the comment section, looks like we all find some time during the day), check out this video from Flow MTB. They explain the suspension very well and compare it to the Supercaliber. There is a better description in the article, also noted below. Once you get past the initial reaction of how the bike looks compared to others, there is a world of differences that makes it unique. Yep, I work at Specialized, but the aim here is not defending similarities and trying to convince you that it is different, I will let the guys point those out. I found the video and article informative and brought some perspective to a comparison based on speculation and first visual impressions. https://flowmountainbike.com/tests/specialized-epic-world-cup-review-2023/
  3. My 8yo daughter has access to bicycles. She got one before she was born and ever since then she had great bikes and access to new bikes. She is pretty fortunate (so are we) but what I would say here is that kids choose to ride or not. Some days she looks at the bike and does not want to get on it. other days she is stoked to ride, albeit only around the block before returning home. She currently has the 24' Riprock with 'fatty' style tires and the 24' Riprock with the rigid fork as in the OP's original question. Some days she choses the pink one and other days the green one, but she doesn't know or truly understand the difference, which there are plenty. What it comes down to in my opinion is buying your kid a bike that they want to ride, because that is the one that will get them riding. It might be the 2k Makro bike or the 14k bike but I would buy the one that they love at this age. And yeah I do work for a bicycle brand and have access to product, but I have learned that until the day she decides she wants to race a bike, I am not going to convince her to ride by buying her the product that I believe is the best. My 2c, sorry I did not answer your question.
  4. I enjoyed today's highlights, hope you do too. the light was so beautiful early morning. What a great day of racing in both categories.
  5. I totally agree, but in our case (Specialized Racing) with the limited time and focus, we are dedicated to telling the story from inside our camp. I like the idea and will brainstorm to see how we can incorporate this in future. If you have any good ideas, would gladly hear them. thank you for the comment.
  6. If you have anything specific you want to see from the team or behind the scenes, let me know. we have 3 more videos to make it happen.
  7. I think you are going to enjoy your new bike. I ride a normal epic with a brain and took out the Epic Evo out for a few rides and I really enjoyed the ride. Post pics after you get your bike today
  8. Hello. I have been riding tubeless tires for a while now. During two of my rides, I accidentally rode through some glass and the sealant did its job perfectly. It allowed me to finish my ride without stopping, but also sealed well enough that I did not have to put in a tube. I ride at 7 bar pressure mostly and after the ride checked the pressure again and it only dropped to just over 6 bar, which was plenty enough to keep riding. Things to consider. Not all wheels are designed for tubeless. The bead on the tire is different to a normal tire and not all tubeless tires work on all rims. Sealant is a big factor. Because of the high pressure, I have found that mtb sealant does not work on the road. I got road specific sealant. We can discuss wether this is a selling point or not, but having tested it myself, I believe that there are sealants specific for road tires that have different composition which works better on road tires. You can ride lower pressures which offers a smoother and more comfortable ride and in some cases the rolling resistance on tubeless tires are better too. Basically, it is a great system if you have rims that can take tubeless tires and you use the correct sealant. Hope that helps.
  9. I can also look after it for you. Just let me know.
  10. *flame on* Trolling hard here, slow day, but if you are going to point out spelling... *flame off*
  11. Interesting to hear that there are no bikes to test on the planet you live in as described in your bio... Jokes aside. Id be interested to find out where you live, which bike it is you would like to test and see how we can accommodate you. Specialized actually have a pretty big test fleet and I am know for a fact that XL bikes are in that fleet. Feel free to contact me on there or email me johan.badenhorst@specialized.com and I will be happy to assist or point you in the direction Ciao
  12. You should have tested all the tires on the same wheels to have the best comparison re acceleration, road feel etc, but that is just my uneducated opinion
  13. hey gents. If you dont mind me weighing in a little. I own one. I am not here to debate its place in the cycling world, however I would like to show you a quick comparison and highlight that you definitely get a workout on a pedal assist bike. These strava stats will speak for itself. You will see that these rides are almost exactly the same. the one faster, further, harder... I ride quite a bit, so I am not unfit or slow really... I am not a pro either PS, I love it Im getting the popcorn
  14. The brake lever is adjustable... so depending on your child's hand size. This was a plus. At the price point of kids bikes, I cant disagree with you, but she loves it which makes me happy dad
  15. I love cycling. It is great to see our children start to ride bikes. It is totally not about any brand, but the fact that they love it as much as we do and that is the key for me. I do however ride a specific brand and recently bought our little daughter (turns 3 in Jan) this little bike. Its called a Riprock 16' bike - https://www.specialized.com/za/en/kids/bikes/mountain/riprock-coaster-16/118243 It has a front brake and back pedal brake. I believe that there has been quite a bit of effort put into this range of bicycles. Worth having a look. Our little one still has her Hotwalk (Balance bike) but took the the pedals like a duck to water. I took the side wheels off immediately to try and keep the balance part of it in the equation.
  16. If you really want to print one, let me know and I can send you the high res..
  17. Anyone need bike transport from the Stellenbosch/Cape Town surrounds area. Let me know. We are taking a van and trailer, both enclosed and space for 40 bikes without touching to the event. R1000 per bike. Cheers

  19. Hi Raemondo. I own a pair. Ridden in them quite a bit. No hassles. Love the fit of the new heal cup and the lightness of the shoe. No toe cap issues so far
  20. from the Specialized Concept Store in Stellenbosch. Let me know if you need any help
