  1. That was a bit left field, but I like where you're going with it!
  2. My next project ????
  3. Came face to face with a massive black mamba crossing a bushy trail at Holla last year. I don't think he saw me coming until the last second, and visa versa. I literally couldn't get my feet high enough above my ears when I rode past, and he lunged backwards trying to jump out of the way. Needless to say, couldn't get my heart rate back down for the rest of the ride, and i'm pretty sure he pooped a little too. The scary part is, if you get bitten out there, its at least a 10km ride back to anywhere that can help. Fortunately they're not out there to bite you, just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
  4. Amazing trip man, and really beautiful photos. So much to see on our doorstep. Bucket list, check
  5. Agreed. Not the answer I was hoping for, but totally understandable. Will have to remain inconspicuous then. Thanks mate
  6. Thanks guys. Going to speak to the organizers first and get some clarity on what I can do. Dont really know how much light will be available on the descents, so flash is probably going to be mandatory. Thanks for the advice guys
  7. So i've got a bit of a strange question. Has anyone who has done an Enduro or DH race had issues with photographers taking flash photos of them while they compete? Reason I ask is that i'm keen to go shoot some action at Giba this coming weekend, but don't want to affect the riders in any way. I don't think the flash will be too much of a distraction, but will probably clear it with the race organisers first. Just wanted some first hand feedback from riders themselves TIA
  8. What a gem ha ha. Danny's got skills!
  9. Came across this shot on the Holla trails FB page, and laughed so hard internally I'm probably going to hell. Such an awesome ride with the whole family, but i'm pretty sure the kid in the trailer didn't agree as much

  11. Amateurs! Everyone knows a little paint stripper will clean that muck right off your frame without any issues!
  12. I'm more of a set it and forget it kind of guy, and don't really want to be fiddling with lockouts the whole ride, but for climbing efficiency it's a necessary evil I guess. Have pretty much shortlisted my selection to the Evil Following, Spark 920, Tallboy V4, and Transition Spur, with the latter two having the updated geo for clubbing the downs. Sadly no stock anywhere of anything, and thus zero opportunity to test ride either of them
  13. Only thing that concerns me is the lack of reviews on the sparks. Why do you think that is? Specialized and Titan are not on my list. Think they're a bit too XC orientated for me. Also now looking at the Santa Cruz Tallboy, but again, price is a lot steeper than I anticipated.
  14. I'm in Ballito, so do Holla quite a bit. Had a look at the 920 at Cyclelab, and it's definately a sexy bike, except for the rats nest of cabling coming off of it. But no stock at least for another 2 months
  15. Thanks guys. Looking for something a little more playful on the downs. Its tough finding demos of any bikes at this stage, so might hold off a bit until I can get a ride on one
  16. And those reviews seem quite dated, maybe the geo hasn't changed much since then anyway
  17. Thanks man. Yeh I'm guessing you'd be hard pressed to find a "bad" bike these days, but have to ask. It's a lot of dollar for something you can't even demo
  18. Reading all the comments got me probably psyched to see the ad, now its gone. Utter disappointment
  19. Hi everyone. So i'm still on the fence as to what bike to buy, and given the current stock situation all over the world, i'm having to settle on what's available. The Scott Spark 920 keeps popping up in my feeds all over the place, but there are hardly any reviews on Sparks anywhere. The components seem fine, GX spec, and it's got a Fox 34 fork, and all in weight seems quite good for my needs, around 12.9kgs. My questions is, the geo seems a bit dated, not very slack 67deg, and not a very steep seat angle 73deg, and i'm looking for a bike I can grow into. Is anyone currently riding one, or know of anyone with it? Looking for something between 130mm and 150mm travel, and the Pyga Hyrax, Transition spur, and Evil Following have all been top of my list, but price and stock has been a major issue.
  20. How do you feel about the Following? Really interested in this bike, but the price has put me off a bit
  21. Its frustrating to say the least. I've wanted either a Spur or Evil following, and there's no indication when we'll ever get stock. You also better hope the reviews are spot on, because there's no way to demo any bikes now either.
  22. Does anyone have an idea on the average weight of the Hyrax? I did a demo on one a short while ago, and it honestly felt like a 20kilo bike. Although in its defence, it had burly tyres and tools hidden in all sorts of places
  23. Its possibly the worst time to look for a new bike since virtually nobody has stock of anything, even overseas. Talk about delayed gratification
  24. Looking at getting a Transition Spur, but stock is a joke at the moment. Looks like a good cross breed of XC and Trail. Would love a trail bike, but the riding I do most of the time requires lots of climbing, and short descents, so better to go for something lighter
