  1. Going to be extremely disappointed if that's the case. Could've just hung around my local then. If it's in the berg, i'm hoping the scenery will be spectacular
  2. Anyone here riding this one at the end of Jan? So amped for it, but have no idea what to expect. Praying it doesn't get cancelled again, but I guess it's highly unlikely at this stage
  3. I would also consider the Garmin instinct Solar. Does everything you need, without all the bells and whistles you don't, and battery life is phenomenal. I get about a month out of a charge with regular GPS use.
  4. Had the same issue happen to me, and turned out to be my crank that was coming loose. An easy fix thank goodness
  5. That's an interesting take on the subject, and haven't thought about it like that. I've only ever bottomed out my shock, and fork has been fine. 120mm shock, and 130mm fork. Am also the type of rider that sets and forgets, and actually have no clue as to how the bike "should" feel while cornering, jumping, etc. It just feels right, and I have no need to change anything.
  6. Was looking at cushcore, but hard to find locally. Running DHF2 front and rear, and so far so good, no punctures or rim dings yet. Not too fussed with the weight, but was also thinking along the lines of getting a faster rolling rear tyre with cushcore, and then keeping the dhf on the front.
  7. Do any of you run tyre inserts for your Enduro rigs?
  8. Yes, very safe there. Ride on my own quite often, and have never felt the need for backup
  9. Holla Trails is my local haunt. I'd be happy to get together and show you a few trails. Drop me a PM and we can exchange numbers. Everything here from easy greens and silvers at 21kms, and then a little more technical pink and red routes, at 28kms. All lots of fun though
  10. Totally agree with you. There seems to be this stigma that Enduro's are as hardcore as DH races, and so the majority of riders think they're way out of their league. Granted, they can get technical, but i'm guessing the organisers wouldn't want to thin the field by making it too difficult for the masses. If you can ride the course beforehand, then that's awesome, and you know what to expect, but not many of us have the time or fitness level to do the race twice in a weekend. Do it blind, have fun, albeit a bit slower, and just go with the flow man!
  11. I can't speak for any of the Cape Enduros, but it's an absolute blast. Fitness is essential, so some cross training is probably a good idea to get you ready for it. Being fatigued at the top of your run isn't going to help you on the way down. Arm pump can wear you out pretty quickly. The races we have here in KZN have all had B-lines, but you should at least be prepared for drops and rock gardens, as sometimes those you won't get away from. Good luck! It's a crazy fun sport, and way more sociable than a local XC race.
  12. So sad that today a person would rather film someones demise rather than help them, all the for the sake of going viral. But then you do get the odd good samaritan who's willing to help, although that's often recorded too
  13. Just purchased the Garmin Instinct Solar, and am extremely happy with it. I'm not so sure the solar charging is a gimmick on the solar, as the power glass covers a bigger area than the Fenix range, so will probably be more efficient in that regard. The Fenix range just didn't appeal to me for the price. Too many functions I will never use.
  14. Makes sense, although I find my left being the weaker hand, won't accidentally grip the front brake too hard, whereas the right can modulate so as not to lock out the back brake
  15. Always had my right brake controlling the rear, and can't understand why a country would make this a law. Surely it's personal preference. I imagine if it had to be swapped around, it would be like driving an automatic car for the first time, and then jamming on the brake thinking it's the clutch, and putting yourself through the front window....
  16. Can totally vouch for this course. Instructors were amazing, and it opened my eyes to how much more fun you can have on your bikes when they're pointing down. It was worth every penny, even if you don't want to race, but have more control over your ride. Now just itching to do my first Enduro.
  17. A.d.d, nope, OCD, definitely!
  18. Beautiful bike wow! Keen to hear how these high pivot designs ride. Now will you please fix the picture in the background!
  19. You're not allowed to fly so close to people without the proper qualifications, but it's also not the riders responsibility to watch out for the drone, it's the pilots duty to make sure to stay far enough away so the rider doesn't get hit. In saying that though, the whole draw to these things is the close proximity you can get to the subject you're filming, and getting quite a long stretch of the riders run, without having multiple cameras setup on course. But yes, completely agree on how distracting it could be.
  20. I fly and race FPV drones, and watching them film the guys at the World Cups even annoys me. How the organisers allow that blows my mind. It must be incredibly distracting for the riders having the sound of a swarm of wasps buzzing your head while trying to negotiate a gnarly section of track. The footage is awesome though
  21. I love my AMS protection. Has saved my frame from numerous scratches and nics just from transporting the bike, and that's not even considering what it does for me on the trail. Each to their own though, and some of their designs are a bit kitch, but they have clear versions that won't upset the fashion conscious. Trailtech are open again, so i'd try them, or alternatively Cyclelab sell the Marvel version, which is almost half the price, but equally as good.
  22. So bleak about this. Had nothing but good service from them
  23. Ricoffy Hardline 1993 ????
  24. Literally just bought the same shoes, niiiice!
