  1. Off to have a look at my new frame at the LBS. Finally arrived this morning
  2. Link to the website: http://www.ergon-bike.com/us/en/product/gx1-leichtbau
  3. Does anyone use Ergon grips and is it worth it? I am looking specifically at the GX1 model which is fairly light. I like bar ends, but don't want to get the Ergon grip with the built-in bar ends as I remove them from time to time, depending on the terrain. Who sells them around here? I see you can get them on CRC.
  4. I need to have a full service done on Rocshox Reba. All bushes needs replacing and I have serious scuff marks on the stanchions. These will probably need replacing as well. I have had a full service done by the agents before and it set me back around R1300-00 I think. Has anyone ever had the stanchions replaced as well and what would the additional cost be? It might be better to replace the shock with a new one or what do you think?
  5. My new frame should arrive tomorrow. Will have a look which way round the factory fits it.
  6. Also find out from the suppliers what the cost of the rear suspension linkages, bearings and bolts will set you back. You will have to replace these at some point and some makes are damn expensive.
  7. The Arione Wingflex gives me a numb weener after 45min. Using a carbon Ti rail Velo for the last 4 years and no problem. I find a saddle must be smooth to prevent chafing.
  8. Why are the rear shocks on some Zula's facing backwards and some the otherway round? Personal choice, does it matter?
  9. Simply make your own and save money. Google the patent number on the Stans bottle and read the patent for the ingredients. Propolyne Glycol you get from the pharmacy (they might have to order for you), water you have, maize meal from Spar and latex from where-ever. Being doing it for almost 2 years and it works well.
  10. I only take mine off for XC races with many trees, otherwise I love them.
  11. Off topic, but how do you prevent your bottle from flying out of the holder on a bumpy ride? I often lose a bottle this way.
  12. I bought the Topeak bottle cage holder over the weekend. For R70-00 and ease of use, I can't fault it, yet.
  13. Was also appy with their service in the past except that I sit with a pair of PINK pedals after ordering the blue. Asked them wtf? and said sorry, we only had pink...??
  14. You would hardly ever need more than 160amps. Matweld, Thermodyne or even Eurasia is fine. Look for the best price. They are pretty much all the same. Makro sold them for R1600 some time ago, it might even be less now.
  15. Chain-L on the chain works well too. Remember, if you cannot ride though the thick mud, then carry you bike. It is amazing how much mud the tyres pick up when you are pushing the bike. I'm talking about the thick, sticky type of mud.
  16. I have the 705 and my wife the 500. For MTB I still prefer the 705 for maps and finding your way home. If you only need a cycling computer, then the 500 is great. Good on Garmin!
  17. Sounds like I'd better squeeze in a few spinning classes then before Discovery kicks me out again.
  18. That would be interesting! Where would they launch that?
  19. You might be right, but the wheels were built a year ago and only used for races. I use my old Mavic X819's for training rides.
  20. ZTR 355 hoops, Wheelsmith 1.6mm spokes, brass nipples and AMC hubs if my memory serves me right. Still being conservative with UST Maxxis tyres though. Tried normal tires on a few occasions but I have bad luck with side wall cuts.
  21. At the last local race we had 2 new 29ers and a new DS. All of them tried to convince me that their bikes were the better one. Then I realised that these bikes varied from R40K to R85K in value which I cannot afford in any case. Bottom line, new bikes are the best bikes out there!!
  22. I hope/trust I will be happy. I'm still comparing 29er and Zula reviews, but it's a bit too late now. Still convinced I made the right choice. I am getting the shop to build it up. Will get my usual mechanic to check it out too. For some reason I still prefer XT. I know it is a bit heavier, but I have faith in it. Suppose more personal choice. Normal price on the frame I think is R16000-R16500. I got it with some discount.
  23. Well after 12months of watching, reading and asking lots of questions, I finally placed my order for a new Zula frame. Ordered the black and blue frame, size large. Also placed an order of a XT groupset. Will fit my white SID shock on there as well as the black ZTR rims. All the 29er hype confused the crap out of me for the last 2 months, but I decided to stick to what I feel comfortable with. I noticed the Zula now comes standard with the RP2 shock and not the RP23. Not a train smash in my view. I've being riding a bike with the RP23 for the last 3.5 years and if I compare that to the RP2 on my wife's bike, I tend to prefer the RP2. The pro-pedal lock-out on the RP2 is more distinct and makes the bike nice and stiff. The RP23 remains kind of soft on level 3, even at a much higher pressure. Can't wait for delivery!!!
  24. I'm a Shimano fan, but for the last 12months I only use SRAM PC971 chains. Good value for money (XT level) and you get a new quick link included. They do last longer than XT. I use about 6 chains a year on my bike. Clusters go a long way normally.
  25. [quote= anyone on the market for a Zula with Sram XX? Size?
