  1. So is this DVD worth the R200 at bike shops?
  2. Go search for the asparagus and coke treatment of kidney stones. You consume a certain amount of diced asparagus and drink a can of coke every 30mins or so. Can't remember the details anymore. Basically the coke dissolves the kidney stone and the asparagus is a strong diuretec which will flush it out. A friend of mine did this and it worked rather quickly. Here is an example: http://www.ehow.com/...ne-removal.html http://www.easyasparagusrecipes.com/kidney-stone-coke-asparagus/
  3. There is a company in PE who sells the 3M flim called Coastland Sales. Similar to what they use at the VPS fitment centres. Around R300 for a 300x1000mm roll. Works well. Our local VPS fitment centre no longer hands out off-cuts. I use this film on my bikes and they work well.
  4. Best is to try and borrow one before wasting your money on something you might not use. Many of us have one lying around full of dust.
  5. have a look here: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/113391-ertjies-bezuidenhout/page__st__48
  6. If it is carbon on aluminium, then remove the BB and fill the seat tube with coke. Leave it overnight. Carbon on carbon, sorry no idea.
  7. You want Cheap, Light and Strong? Pick 2.
  8. I've been mixing my own for the last 4 years now. No problems and similar to Stans. It is used on 4 MTB's and we've only had the odd puncture due to sidewall cuts.
  9. I tried cleaning with alchohol and sanding paper etc. At the end what worked on my metallic pads was to heat them gently over a gas flame until the smoking stopped. They work fine now. You still have to remove the glazed surface with some fine sanding paper.
  10. They are in for a surprise this year. The new route is completely different to previous years. No more flat road racing.
  11. I'm on my 3rd bike with XT brakes. Still have the XT brakes from 4.5 years ago and they work perfectly. Had the brake fluid replaced some 2 years ago, no issues at all. Use them on a bi-weekly basis. My wifes ex bike had Juicy-7's on. Never liked them and always noisy. My mechanic also hated them. PITA to fit the brake pads too. She's also on XT's now. I might be biased but the only thing from the SRAM stable I believe in are their Rockshox. The rest, no thank you!
  12. I will not easily use water based sealants again. They work for a while and then just don't. Bought a new bike last month and instead of using Stans, they used the green stuff. Washed it out immediately and used my home brewed stans, which I've been using for the last 3.5 years. I seldom use bombs. They can really mess up your sealant.
  13. Go onto the Momsen website and look at the Momsen Al729 bike. Full XT with ZTR wheels for R20K. My wife just got one (small) and weighs 10.76kg.

  16. Back in April 2 of our bikes got hi-jacked before the start of a provincial cross Country race in PE. The armed response guys and the police caught them after 20 minutes. I had to appear in court as a witness and after a long wait, I got the call on Friday to say they were found guilty and sentenced to 8years in prison. Great start to my weekend!!

    SunScreen!

SP20 in the spray bottle is great. Even works on my bles. Aerosol is a waste and freaken cold. Been using SP20 since the early 90's.
  18. Het dit vanoggend gekry. Ook maar goed ons doen die Langs Baviaans: An update following the rains of the weekend. Gareth has informed me that the water levels remain high at Drinkwaterskloof and Smitskraal. The water levels are around 1 - 1.5 m deep at places in the criossings. This effectively closes the access from the western section until further notice. Access from Patensie to Rooihoek will only be allowed for visitors who have confirmed bookings and disc access - no day visitors will be allowed until further notice as problems have been experienced with day visitors attempting Smitskraal. The road is in a poor state below Bergplaas towards Rooihoek making driving conditions difficult. A no entry sign is being erected at Elandsvlak. I would ask all product owners and tourism information centers to bear with us during this time, tourism to the entire area is affected during the current rain. Wickus Van Heerden, organizer of the Trans Baviaans, did a recce through the reserve this past weekend and supports the view that visitor access should be limited for now. He will proably be sending out an update on the race, it seems likely that the alternative route will be used given the road conditions and water levels.
  19. Reminds me of a Q&A: Q:Hoe like jy jou eiers in die oggend? A: Liggies gekielie met 'n lang nael!
  20. I just hope Trans will be better than this. My TB partner and I spent some time together over pizza and red wine. That was our spanbou session for the day.
  21. I usually use these links before a race. Looking out the window is also very effective: http://www.weathersa.co.za/web/Home.asp?ib=1&f=68361&z=Ctry&v=7&g=MeteoT&m=Strm&anim=aStr&av=AvWarn&fav=v0&dam=&graph=temp&uid=&p=&dbug=&h=0&mw=w&ib=1&f=68842 http://www.yr.no/place/South_Africa/Eastern_Cape/Port_Elizabeth_Airport/hour_by_hour.html http://www.windguru.cz/int/index.php?sc=51679
