  1. Do a search for "Merida 96". Some people have found the suspension setup at the rear... odd.
  2. Hotdamn!
  3. I've heard this from a few people now -> https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/89242-merida-96-3000d/
  4. I know what you mean! Those Technogym bikes suck! I do like the readouts though.. would have been nice if the spinning bikes had something similar... should probably just get myself a HR monitor.
  5. My wish is to meet a nice cycling girl
  6. I have a Thule 9103. Works pretty good for me, and it fits in the boot of my Polo If I do go for a long drive (2 hours plus) I just remove the seat post and wheels to minimize the impact on fuel consumption (29ers have some big ass wheels!). You make a good point about theft though. I do lock the bikes to the rack itself to ward of most would be thiefs. But like you said, a determined thief could cut the top straps (they are metal right?). But for that matter they could also cut the cable lock? The bottom clips look like the will only come out if the boot is open... unless you bend the boot where it clips in Damn, I hope they don't try that with my car! If I do have to leave the bikes on the car, I just try and park where I can see the car, or where there are lots of people that would notice if someone is cutting up my bike rack. Don't think there is a perfect solution if you don't want to use tow bar mounted racks (btw... took me a while to figure out what "two bar mounted racks" are ).
  7. Respect! Mine is half that... for now
  8. What a douche thing to say...
  9. Does a tyre have to be the UST version to run it tubeless, or is it just recommended? Still trying to get to grips with the tubeless thing...
  10. Are you running the Aspen tubeless? I got them stock on my 29er, but don't know if they are tubeless ready?
  11. Got the bike on Friday, and did the Genadendal MTB Mission on Saturday. Bike was awesome... until I punctured it quite badly, and then broke the chain But it was mostly my own fault, still getting used to the bike. And I wasn't that prepared with spares etc. for the 29er. Tried to wing it... What upgrades did you put on the bike? After this weekend, tubeless is quite high on my list! Also, do you know if the stock Giant rims are tubeless ready? Struggling to find some info on the net...
  12. I've shopped around quite a bit the last couple of weeks, and the prices at Crown Cycles are the best! Their list price is usually less the some of the other shops discounted prices, and on top of that they still offer a 7% cash discount. Well done! If they stocked the bike I was looking for I would have bought it there.
  13. Thanks for the feedback. Looks like it's all positive. Gonna go in tomorrow to get it! Think I still need a granny for now so I'll stick to the 3x10
  14. Cool, I'm sold! New bike this weekend
  15. Cool thanks! What is a tapered head tube Just when I think know my stuff, I realise I still have a lot to learn! And while I'm on that, what does "w/15QR axle & tapered steerer" of the fork refer to?
  16. Hi, I'm looking to buy a new MTB. I've been back and forth the last couple of weeks. Dual-sus vs 26HT vs 29HT... And I think I'm gonna settle for the GIANT XTC 29er 1. Giant website with specs I'm just not sure about those brakes...? But the rest looks really good to me. Could just upgrade the brake callipers in the future. Found the 2011 model at my LBS for R16300. Good price? Are there any owners out there? What are your opinions? Any feedback would be welcome! Thanks
  17. This is interesting... I'm looking at getting a 1200D. Is the handling when descending really that bad? I know the 96 is a more racy bike, but this sounds odd. How is the handling and "comfort level" during general riding and fast downhills?
  18. I've wondered about this exact same thing!
  19. 11.4kg for that bike would be quite amazing actually. But it does sound a little fishy...
  20. Holy crap! Seriously... HOLY CRAP! Can that be?
  21. The same thing happens to me, but it's just because your legs aren't warmed up yet. I think? I've found that if I start a bit slower for the first few kms, my legs start getting stronger, and my heart rate also settles.
  22. Diet if you're not a giraffe?
  23. Nice! How much are these going for if you don't mind me asking?
  24. I don't think I'll ever be able to wear something called "Zuma"
