  1. You then have one guaranteed ticket sale already
  2. Even if he did, it wouldn't have changed the fact that the shop screwed up...
  3. R1500 shirt down to R1350... still a little out of my price range (Cool shirts though...)
  4. So... how do you get them to send you some "free" photos in the first place
  5. No sorry, I used the Stans Rubber strips with the built in valve. But I kept the stock green rim strips. Good luck. Think CWC have good prices in the 29er Stans rubber strips.
  6. I have done it using WTB Wolverine's front and back with Stans. Had no problems getting them to inflate and hold air. Only needed a footpump to inflate.
  7. I haven't seen the Carbon XTC 29er even on the international versions of the Giant website. So you might be waiting a while. The Alu version of the XTC 29er is not exactly heavy... so don't write it off.
  8. Price of the Carbon XTC 29er? Where are you getting it?
  9. So.... Is this the Cannondale you are referring to? FLASH 29'ER 1 Looks pretty cool. Better brakes than the Giant. And if you say its a bout 1kg lighter it should climb better. The Giant is rock solid though... and the Fox fork is great(for me anyways, I've never ridden a Lefty).
  10. What's the price of each? And really... where are you getting this full XTR Giant XTC 29er? What wheelset will it have? I have the stock XTC 29er. Quite like it. What's the specs of the Cannondale? Drivetrain wise...
  11. Where are you getting a full XTR Giant XTC 29er? Are you building it yourself?
  12. Not an expert, but if in doubt maybe go to the 120mm ? When you participate in a race do you race?
  13. Navigation Challenge in Grabouw Getting lost in the woods for 3 hours is gonna be fun!
  14. All the Gautengers were in the Cape for the December holidays
  15. http://www.gecocycles.co.za/ Geco Cycles have been servicing bikes at the Epic for the past the 4 years. Our service have always been of the highest standard and 2011 will be no exception. We have also build and prepared Epic bikes and would like riders to make use of expertise when choosing their race bike. Pre Epic service Our pre-epic service entails a complete strip-down and rebuild of the bike. Should you buy all your parts for Geco Cycles (chain, cluster, chain rings etc), the pre-Epic service will be free of charge. The service is extremely important for the service team to ensure that the rider starts the race with bike that will need minimal attention during the tough week ahead. It is advisable to replace drive train, brake pads and bearings at this service, and to check and replace tyre sealing fluid. It also provides our service crew with the opportunity to take note of the parts required to service your particular bike. Service during the Epic Our service crew is available the day before start for any emergencies that might occur, our workshop is closed for this day to deal with Epic bikes only. We also have a bike mechanic hanging around the start just in case of an emergency. Contact during the Epic is by cell phone. Each rider receives a dedicate Epic cell number to ensure that riders and service crew stay in contact. Bikes are dropped at the service zone or collected, and returned by our crew after servicing. Our service includes a "service wash and lube", and tyre sealant check and replacement. Should the crew experience a serious problem, the rider will be contacted in order to determine the correct course of action. At the Epic we stock extra frames, forks and wheel sets, and riders do not have to carry any spares or specific parts. Epic Cost Our fee for 2011 Epic is R1,950 per rider. All parts required during the race will be less 10% for our registered service riders. Riders will be billed after the race and should they pay with an EFT within a week after the race finish, another 3% can be deducted. We only have space for 18 teams, so it would be in the riders best interest to register and pay as soon as possible to secure a service spot.
  16. Cool, thanks for the replies.
  17. Hi, What is the easiest way to top-up the sealant of your tubeless setup? Just deflate, pop out the bead, and pour in some more? Do you have to do the whole soap-and-water thing afterwards again etc? Any quick fixes?
  18. Too hot... cannot sleep. Argus MTB last year was quite hot. I was sweating before we even started.
  19. Was that directed at me? I changed from the Maxxis Aspen that came stock with the bike to WTB Wolverine 2.2. Have done about 100km so far and no problems. Quite like them thus far, but haven't ridden on very varied terain yet. Even though it's not a tubeless ready tire, and the Giant rims aren't tubeless ready I didn't have any problems converting to tubeless using Stan's. http://wtb.com/products/tires/29er/wolverine29er/ http://twentynineinches.com/2010/01/14/wtb-wolverine-mid-term/

  21. I finally decided to go with the WTB Wolverine 2.2. Something called Wolverine can't be bad right? This is not a tubeless ready tire (supposedly), and I'm using my stock Giant wheelset(non-tubeless). Got them to inflate tubeless with a footpump using a Stan's conversion, and they have been holding air perfectly. Had a long ride in the rocky Montagu area this week and no problems so far. Ready for Attekwas (mini)!
  22. Did you win?
  23. Covie, so we we're both Silverback "enthusiasts", and now we both switched to Giants I still have to take a pretty picture of mine.
  24. I've found that my riding position is higher on my 29er compared to my old 26er. This makes for a much more aggressive riding position to what I'm used to, and did cause some lower back pain. But some tweaking to the stem and it's much better now. I guess it will be different for each bike though...
