  8. once agian need to speak to my neighbour rouxtjie but we can organize a ride and you try both out sometime if you want to before you buy.
  9. it is a lot more personal and fun that way, you'd miss out a big part of the experience. But the first rule of SS is there are no rules.
  10. havent had the pleasure of riding a surley fork but I love my Steel Gt fork. cant imagine there will be that much difference.
  11. no worries and if you still not sure than we can orgainse a ride sometime and you could have spin in my bike with a steel fork and im sure rouxtjie would let you have a go on his niner with a carbon niner fork.
  12. yip and thats why we have so many options to choose from love it.
  13. haha and you rode up there fine.
  14. I run a 2.1 crossmark on the front. Purely because I know and love the crossmark. I know exactly how fast i can hit a corner. cant find bigger than 2.1. However at the SA single speeds at thaba last year I had a tumble moment and got a flat wheel near the beer stop (i was carring nothing but a beer funnel) so walked there and while having downing my beer Crusher pulled in with a flat back wheel and he kindly donated his front to me. He was running a very soft Schwable something 2.5 and it felt like a tractor tire (I could barely keep it on the singletrack, always felt like it was off on eitherside) but is was a very comfy ride.
  15. I guess if you go carbon. But I ride my Steel Gt fork and couldnt think of a better ride. (dont get me wrong the carbon niner is k@k hot, but love my steel fork)
  16. you still gotta ride the bench,
  17. You'll be fine on a rigid I just siggest you use grips like ESI Chunky. Takes the edge of the chatter.
  18. All I know is Mr and Mrs Rouxtjie put together a mean Sunday roast. Mrs Rouxtjie's tatoe skins Mr Rouxtjie's Melk tart
  19. Problem will never be solved. Give me the XX1 and get 2x10 Check your set up.
  20. You only do this once: While removing the drive side Pedal, use the crank arm as leverage and then when the pedal slips loose your hand slams down directly onto the chainrings. Even more fun when the chain is in the small blade. :cursing: (thats the real reason i now ride SS )
  21. damn glad i dont need to worry. i just use whatever is around. I do like white lightening clean ride. anyone else notice its not a blue liquid anymore?
