  7. Bud I have a SingleSpeed and only had a Singlespeed, only rode and raced a singlespeed for 4 years doing at least 6000-9000km on it a year and never in those years did I consider myself "hardcore". That is not what it is about. The reason I Mention those people is because if anyone should be considered "hardcore" it is them. Not because they have achieved ridiculous results on SSer against geared opponents, not because they have ridden multi day events on SSers but because they embody the spirit behind SingleSpeeding. They understand and share the culture behind SInglespeed, they travel the world to be with like minded people at Singlespeed events. They would jump at the opportunity to spend a weekend with like minded people for the price of a meal for two. Fair enough you are entitled to your opinion but the for someone to come onto a chat and their first post EVER is to slate an event they clearly do not understand, based on R/km and calling the culture around the event a "side Show" is definitely not the way to endear yourself to 99% of the people that would read this topic. Have you ever hosted an event. do you understand the logistics, costs? It been a while since I've done a Nissan or USN event so not sure what they cost now days. But as previously mentioned look at the Juma race its R399 for a glorified ride on the spruit which is great, nothing wrong with that and they had what over 5000 entries to split the costs between. No-one batted an eyelid. Now you look at SSC they will be lucky if they get More than 150 entries. That they would have to split the cost of the entire event between so would be around R 67,500. If you think you can host an event, the afterparty with food and "side-show" for less than that then please talk to my wife cause we paid WAY TOO MUCH for our wedding. (Even if they lower the price to please people like your mates lets say they get another what 50 people) So think a little next time before you blurt out in your fist post that you think an event organizer who is trying to cater to a small markets of great people is quote "taking the piss" take a deep breath, think about it and then comment. Just some insight into how my F@#ked up Logic works
  8. Ssshhhhh what goes on tour stays on tour. hahahaha
  9. Is this Clown for REAL??? Well done on your first 3 posts. Would love to know the definition of HARDCORE SS riders. Sorry Crusher, Amy, Nic, Roggie, Thug you guys clearly don't qualify! Maybe he means those guys in their full lycra with number boards still on chasing down strava segments on the spruit on a Sunday and terrifying little old ladies walking their poodles. Oh those guys??? Yeah maybe its better those Singlespeeds stay in the garage next to their cyclocross, fatties, and whatever the other of the latest fads they own. it'll be alot more fun without having to tell them that you cant refuse the beer stop.
  10. that bike belongs in the Ugly bike thread. Spez are usually great with their desirability power. miss the mark on this one.
  11. Just found Out that RSA Rally Driver and part time Mountian Biker Gugu Zulu has passed away while attempting to Summit Kilimanjaro for the Nelson Mandela Foundation. Rest In Peace Champ. I'm sure you and Burry will be tearing up the Singletrack up there, While DADA Madiba cheers you two on. Condolences to his Wife Letshego and Family. http://www.enca.com/south-africa/gugu-zulu-dies-on-kilimanjaro
  12. Just something about this bike that really appeals to me. How does she ride?
  13. Wow Andrew yes it was a very long time ago (7/8 years ago). Maybe I should state that. In fact I will edit my post. Thank you very very much for your kind offer. you did not have to do that. Those Bibs are long gone, donated a whole bunch of kit and cleats to the Northern Farm kids. I will definitely give anatomic a try next time i buy bibs. thanks.

  15. Just received this little gem in the mailbox. http://www.sassc2016.co.za/
  16. so 90% of the field on outdated tech?
  17. I wound be interested to hear what the "experts" opinion is on Nino's Choice of Suspension. I know why he was on a 29er but what i found interesting was that the Scott he was riding had a "Rocker-style" rear suspension as oppose to the "single pivot style" rear suspension. Especially that is found on all the standard Scott bikes including his usual race bike as well as 90% of the dual suspension field at the world champs. http://www.bikerumor.com/2016/05/30/scott-racing-teases-new-29-full-suspension-race-bike-schurter/ Thoughts?
  18. I Agree With "Little White thorn" I have been running the following on my Rigid Niner and had no issues. Front: Spez Ground Control 2.3 (Control: slightly thicker durable sidewalls than the Sworks, but less than the GRID) Rear: Spez Fast Trak 2.25 (Control) Done 1,400km on them and only the back is now needing replacement. (Too many skiddies) I have just bought a Spez Slaughter GRID 2.4 to replace the Fast trak just to test it out. (not fitted yet) But at R500-R600 definitely best bang for buck. Only my Pasco I'm running: Front: WTB Vigilante 2.3 Rear: WTB Trailboss 2.4 Buts that's a different game all together.
  19. hahaha yeah getting old hey hahaha. need to find a Hulk sticker. goes with the colour theme and the weight and temper of the rider hahaha.
  20. Havent had mine on a scale yet but woudl guess it will be a little heavier than Sean's. Will put it on the scale when im at the trailhead again.
  21. I could not agree more. Looking for one
