  1. Yah, its a beautiful thing, look at the amazing positive effect's it has on people, I fully support it, we need more people like this in the world.
  2. I like it, its different, she is obviously passionate about it and she is doing something in a small space many cant do in a big garden. I like people who follow their heart, I read a story in a magazine the other day about a gentleman in NY who wanted to tend bees, so he negotiated with a major hotel and between them they set up a bee colony on the hotels roof, now he harvests around 40 kgs of honey from this rooftop colony, the hotel reaps the benefits of having a dead roof space now been utilized for something green where schools come to see bees and the honey collection process and he gets to indulge in his passion in a big sprawling metropolis, its a win/win situation.
  3. Just as an aside, whatever happened to TNT1? or did he just change his name and I dont know.? I liked him, although we never met we had some great discussions on all sorts of stuff, we didn't always agree but he was always ready to see both sides in my view, I always enjoyed his posts and seen as he started what must be the longest and most well frequented thread here I just wondered if he was still around.?
  4. Just shows the brute strength of these animals, he lifted that car like it was Tupperware.
  5. That was flippin hilarious, the second guy had no clue....
  6. You are a lucky man, I have "Bridge over troubled water" on an LP still, but somehow in the moving it got warped a little, so upset.
  7. I may have posted this before, I cant remember, but Ian Anderson is so Damn good it deserves a second mention. I went to his live show when he toured SA about 12 odd years ago, it was fabulous, the place was packed out with folks all with graying hair........and Ian delivered the goods as always,... the best showman in Rock in my opinion.
  8. Yah, it was, Pity one doesn't really see it around much anymore, good old proper food. I thought I would attach a video because I am pretty sure many folk are going "Huh, Welsh Rarebit?, Never heard of it.!"
  9. Welcome to the club. I completely retired 6 years ago, thought I would get bored, now I wonder how I found the time to go to work. You will be fine, enjoy the downtime, recharge the batteries, find a new interest you can get passionate about, time flies by, dont sweat the small stuff.
  10. Damn, I got all homesick watching that, when he spins down End Street I almost booked a flight back (home). I so love JHB culture, theres no where in the world like it, its so "out there" everyone carries on, no one interferes, theres no nannying and everyone lives by the seat of their pants, ........just try that here, Pfft,... you would have 30 patrol cars on your ass before the first corner.
  11. Reminds me a bit of when my Mom used to make Welsh Rarebit, was my favourite when I got home from school. Okay I know that was 45 years ago but I still remember it well.
  12. This is a magnificent picture, clearly a bit of artistic license but the composition is breathtaking.
  13. When I lived in JHB I used to buy all my Leathers, Gloves, Helmets, Accessories etc from "Full Throttle" http://www.fullthrottle.co.za/online/ I f you want local in CT I wouldnt know, but I think they do online as well.
  14. Yah, its an old trick, its basically the same principle as an Impact driver, but we never reassembled much without using copper compound on all the threads, just makes life so much easier down the road.
  15. On older bikes it was commonly accepted that the first thing you did was remove all the cover screws and replace with Allen cap screws. We did that with all the older models, saved hours of headaches later. Modern bikes have a better quality of screw or bolt head, but an impact driver is often the only way to break the lock on a thread, if the screw has never been removed before it can freeze in place and when the screw head is recessed and perhaps a thread locking compound is applied as well, getting sufficient force applied to the screwdriver to break the lock without damaging the head can be tricky and the head can often be destroyed before it breaks free. An impact driver is a life saver in these cases, then as I said replace with an Allen cap screw and a dab of copper compound.
  16. I am a big Simon and Garfunkel fan, Sounds of Silence was probably their best LP ever but "The Boxer" to me anyway is a close second.
  17. Yah, I have only read Tim Noakes book "The Lore of running" which I think is now in its 4th or 5th edition, probably still the go to book on running for many, well for me anyway. During summer I follow his road training principles and have done so for years, I can almost do it out of my head now, and in winter when its cold and snowy I run on a treadmill at the gymnasium and just convert the techniques from "road to treadmill" - although its getting chilly now, I can still easily run outdoors but I am not looking forward to the 90 minutes on a treadmill time again.
  18. Damn, that is seriously good. Two thumbs up from me.!
  19. Sometimes ya just wanna have a good chuckle, if this dont bring a smile to your face, you lost your soul.... I bring you the "Snake Oil Willie Band"...
  20. Aah okay, so if I understand correctly then, once you have a Bitcoin (whatever a bitcoin is) you can / have to trade (sell) this Bitcoin for real dollars? (ie) That is Dollars that I can take to McDonald's and buy a burger and shake or put gas in my car etc? If that is correct who then is controlling the value of this Bitcoin, or is it sort of an auction value, (ie) I have one to sell and whoever pays the most gets it.? Sorry for the questions, but you will need to be patient with me, I am old and I dont understand this stuff.
  21. The only Antminer I know of is a mammalian long nosed Anteater which usually lives in South America. Everyone talks about these Bitcoins and other Cryptocurrencies and I have absolutely no idea what they are on about, I simply cannot see how you change a Cryptocurrency into real dollars that I can take to the store and buy something, and how do you get change?... its totally beyond me, so I will follow this thread with interest and see if I can learn something.
  22. Hmm, "Stupid is as Stupid does", its a juvenile nurse shark and under normal circumstances totally harmless, he obviously played with it or grabbed it somehow and it latched on, and the morons on the boat then knifed it. Should have rather knifed the idiot diver.
  23. Last night I was watching an article on TV about the 9/11 attacks and they played this song by Enya as the towers crumbled.......... I couldn't get it out of my head, such an emotive song and what a beautiful voice.
  24. One of mine as well, "James and the giant Peach" wonderful imagination, I may just read it again. Roald was an interesting fellow as well, not many people knew but he was a fighter pilot in World War 2, certainly he lived an interesting life.
  25. Did they survive.? Looked quite catastrophic.
