  1. So he gets the sympathy trip to the Olympics (failed to qualify, still sent), and now the sympathy spot in the final. Nice.
  2. That's harsh. I bet Jaco would pay money to see big pricks.
  3. He hasn't complained about it at all, it is the armchair experts that get their knickers in a knot about it.
  4. Time trial was the final stage, and on the Champs Elysees. Remember it like it was yesterday - quite amazing.
  5. I think you mean Fignon, and he led Lemond by 50 seconds going into the final-stage time trial on the Champs Elysees. Lemond beat him by 58 sec. Hinault retired in 1986.
  6. His future is with Sky, in all seriousness. They have the bucks and the backup to make it happen for him, and they think he is British. Other than maybe Garmin, he is unlikely to get support like Sky. This year was not to be his, if Wiggins was healthy. That was always the way it would work. We all work for people whose job we can do far better. His time will come. This little fling with some goose who upgraded from one of the local pros to an international one, and now proudly puts Monaco as her residence, will end. Froomedog, there are plenty more groupies available now who won't make your name gat.
  7. Jeepers Froome needs to get rid of this girl if she keeps tweeting stuff like this. Does not do him any good at all. He needs to think about his career a little - no good being such a star worker, with an eye on the future, if your background staff is causing **** for you in the background.
  8. Ms 'Froome' has been very queit since. Wonder if she still lives in Monaco?
  9. Or has Bruyneel maybe been sent by LA to see what they have on him? Sacrificial hog, so to speak?
  10. Alongside proving the doping ring stuff, they are proving he doped too. Witness testimony is enough to convict, there does not have to be a positive test. This has been made clear numerous times, both in the mainstream media and the knowledgeable Hub. There are plenty of precedents. "Part of a systematic doping ring"? I think what they are getting at is that he was pretty much the mainstay of it. The man is guilty of doping. Of that there is no doubt (he has even begun to allude to it by asking why he is the only one from that era they are chasing), and he must be brought to book for that. He is also, it would appear, gulity of influencing other riders on his team into doping, and supplying them with the junk himself. That is revolting. You might argue they would have anyway, but if just one was forced into doing so by Lance, he deserves everything he gets. Backed down? I don't see it that way at all. USADA is saying " get your ducks, whatever breed you want them to be, in a row" and will then continue as before. Finally - the world has come to terms with the fact that pro cycling was a rolling pharmacy in the late 90s/early 2000s. From the riders of that era, to commentators and journalists, and even the head of the UCI saying today that times have changed. There is only one idiot left claiming anything different. How stupid does he think we are? Chop.
  11. Domestiques weren't allowed stage wins at US Postal.
  12. Almost as classy as screaming obscenities at your competitors when you finally win SA's, hey Rob? Who's the @£$%^&* man now?
  13. Ok, so I have finally made it on to Twitter. Suggestioons for who to follow for cycling news type stuff, local and overseas? Opinion/variety/information/humour rolled into one? The overseas stuff seems easy to find, so I guess it is the local guys I want to find out about.
  14. With CSA, it is possible that they are completely in the wrong, but don't care. Hence the legal action. That is my reading of it. They admitted fault, then repeated the fault, according to the report. Good luck with that. Cherise must go - has proven she can work like a dog for teammates, is pretty handy in a fierce bunch, and a good back-up sprinter should there be a fall/mechanical for Ashleigh. I feel sorry for Robyn, it is not her fault they mucked it up.
  15. So we can presume they didn't actually ride the trails then? Good way to do a review.
  16. Nice theory, but unfortunatley of the hoaxy variety - sorry! http://www.snopes.com/language/phrases/lesson.asp
  17. I suspect his PR machine posted. I wonder, if you send three faxes to the traffic department, after close of business on a Friday, and don't get an immediate response, does that mean you don't have to pay your speeding fine? Spin, spin, spin
  18. Found one of the articles that dipped into this: ‏http://www.outsideonline.com/outdoor-adventure/athletes/lance-armstrong/Its-Not-About-the-Lab-Rats.html
  19. I have, both my mother and my brother, within 18 months of each other just after the 99 Tour. And it burned my arse big time to have to supress my concerns around his doping while they were on their deathbeds, gaining some comfort from his first comeback. False hope is still hope, and it did make a difference to them I think. But that doesn't change my beleif that he has been dishonest, a cheat and a fraud and should be punished for those no matter how far back they date. That he has done some good should not change that, he can be allowed to focus on continuing to do good once he has served his time, but to continue living his lie in such an arrogant public manner galls me.
  20. No, I don't think we can. Personally, I can't, but that is just my opinion, I accept not everybody will share it. How much he has done through LiveStrong is in question anyway, it would appear it is not the most efficient fundraising platform around (there were links to reports on this in prior threads). Compound this with what happens if all the good he has done is based on a fraudulent rise to fame and it becomes ever more important for Lance to face the charges levelled against him, and defend them openly and honestly. If he is innocent, that will come out in the course of this process, and he and Livestrong can use facts presented, and findings made, as definite proof of his innocence, rather than keeping on using bogus claims of never having failed a drug test (an outright lie, by the way, that he and his PR machine conveniently keep forgetting) and emotional terms like witch hunt, spite and the rest they continually roll out.. If he is guilty, he deserves every piece of misery that will be heaped upon him, both from a cycling world that has grown exponentlially through his successes, and the cancer community who have rewarded his inarguable contributions to their cause with blind faith. Neither can afford for this to reach what I feel is the only logical conclusion, but that is a problem for the future...
  21. Terrible terrible incident - just one correction though, The whole of Hout Bay side of Chappies is actually a 40kph Zone, apart from just near the top (where you have your ticket checked) which is a 20k Zone. The final climb from the Noordhoek side is a 20k zone the whole way (I saw the signs when I was down for argus and was surprised, so I double checked hte next time i rode it )
