  1. EDIT: Deleted - repetition. Flame averted.
  2. If this guy was just a 'cyclist' then they wouldn't have bothered to bring the sport into it. What if (by the name that is being bandied about up here, and by the long-term reputation of this 'gent') we are be dealing with somebody who was an elected official within the sport over at least some of this period. Then, is his involvement in cycling relevant to the story?
  3. LeMond? How do you define greatness?
  4. Keep an eye on your bike...
  5. Unlikely from his posts. Highly likely that CC could be, IMHO, given the facts presented to us so far? Had OP not gone and found it in the wash bay, would they ever have told him? We still don't know how long they had it in their posession before he found it... this is so dodgy.
  6. Does it count as fencing if you try to sell stolen goods back to the rightful owner?
  7. I get that - without a compressor it is a pain in the *&^%. And it is so much easier just to drop it off and let somebody else struggle. Can't is probably not the right word. I say probably, because I haven't asked him either, before making assumptions.
  8. Oh dear, Desmond This is getting uncomfortable to watch. Where is my popcorn.
  9. Surely if the OP was running/involved with another shop he would have done his insurance claim through it? Not the opposition?
  10. Actually, if there is more to this than is in Adder's post, you should find the time to tell us about it. You probably could have in the space you bad-mouth an unhappy customer here. By not addressing the issues here - was his bike stolen from your shop, did it make a mysterious comeback, did you call him to tell him you had found it or did he stumble upon it in your shop - I can only presume he is telling the truth in his initial post. Adder runs a competing bike shop in Hout Bay? But bought two bikes from you, not through his own shop, and expensive ones, it seems, through an insurance claim? And you are the only bike shop in Hout Bay? I am confused now...
  11. The guys at Complete are normally quite quick to post on the hub - let's hear the story from their side? WRT the insurance thing - if Complete agreed to hold the bike, they must accept responsibility for it. If it is not insured, they must tell the man so he can make a different plan. I am on Adder's side on this one. Desmond - the mike is all yours, tell us a story.
  12. More lies. If the people in council who actually make these decision had been approached, they would have laughed, a lot, at the proposed route, composed themselves a little, and then said no. I suspect a street sweeper, representing the City in his Solid Waste uniform, was approached, said "Lekker, my larnie" and they took it from there.
  13. Not sure how much use it will be, probably all American content. We ride on the other side of the road.
  14. Waterpoints - SPONSORED (powerade?) - Tables? Gazebos? Manpower? Cups? Drums for carrying water? Bakkies to get it there? Quads - SPONSORED (Nissan) Fuel? Manpower? Venues - SPONSORED (Nissan) For free? Unlikely. Website, telephone, petrol, route set-up, advertising.... the list goes on Money for jam, indeed
  15. If so, I think we need to hand money over to another trustee. It would appear Mr Gove is a repeat offender. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/38515-new-mag-in-sa-cycle-sport/
  16. Is he taking subscription money? Has anybody got their SA/International cycle Sport magazine yet? Just asking...
  17. OK, you want to play. If this is true, then we need to know what the event is, and who this friend is. I know a lot of event organisers, even big 'prestige' event organisers, and, while there is a living to be made, not one of them can sit on their bums for a full year from the proceeds of one. Not even the Epic. Can you back up your claim?
  18. We see/saw this happening before on the spruit.
  19. Bull****. Sorry, mods, can think of no more appropriate reply.
  20. I can see a law suit brewing.
  21. I think that is the absolute worst time to ride, that is when the majority of the fatal/bad cycling accidents have happened over the years. People still coming home from clubs/parties.
  22. Shouting 'chicks dig it', no doubt.
  23. Technically, what TW has are not accidents. ac·ci·dent (ks-dnt, -dnt) n. 1. a. An unexpected and undesirable event, especially one resulting in damage or harm: car accidents on icy roads. b. An unforeseen incident: A series of happy accidents led to his promotion. c. An instance of involuntary urination or defecation in one's clothing.
  24. Fixed.
