  1. I was thinking more along the lines of a "ride this route" feature in the strava mobile app, so it gives an indication of which direction to ride (instead of grabbing GPX, and then needing to load into garmin / another mobile app) *edit* correction, can't grab the gpx as a free user, premium-only feature.
  2. 1 new feature in strava that's actually decent! Just released!. http://app.strava.com/athlete/segments/starred I find one of the best use-cases for Strava is route finding in new areas. Would love it if I could load up routes other people have used to get to a certain point on a map..... this looks like its headed in the right direction.
  3. "crop ride" will trim the beginning or end of a ride. The only way to do it properly is to export the gpx and then delete the entries (it's an XML file), manually upload and then delete the original ride. i.e. its a ball-ache. IMO, it ain't worth the time - strava's a nice little tool that gives a bit extra insight into riding activities, not a bible. My best competition is myself. A PR is worth more than a KOM.
  4. I think she's into 3somes. Ask her to send pics of Desire too. *edit* nofearfun - too quick for me
  5. damn this looks like a bit of fun!
  6. yes please! we are there!
  7. ya... i think I'd need a bit of training before i started carrying around one of those. at the moment, if I was in a situation, I'm not sure I'd be without hesitation. Not crazy about fire power in general
  8. I'm keen to buy some assos stuff for my missus, but am not sure what. Please send models + kit for all the ladies specials for showcasing purposes so i can decide what to purchase in person. thanks.
  9. if you / someone you know is missing a hydration pack from Bryton Elephant last weekend, please PM me...
  10. awesome stuff!
  11. Precautionary measures taken. Friday is ride day
  12. Series cancelled due to natural impact. No more zebras crossing over. Here's the official mail sent out, for those of you that never got it: --- We regret to inform you that we are cancelling the rest of the Bryton Big 5 MTB series. The series was started in an effort to help the rhino’s but due to the secluded nature of the venue, the other animals just don’t know what’s going on and injure themselves. We’ll have to go back to the drawing board and try to see what we can do, but for the moment it has been decided that stopping the series due to the impact on the environment is the best option. ---
  13. .....
  14. Don't miss the action of the 2013 ProNutro Magalies Monster MTB Classic presented by ISUZU TONIGHT (11 June) shown on Supercyling between 20h00 and 21h00 on SuperSport 7. Tonight's insert will be a taste of what to expect from the 26 minute show which premieres on SuperSport in early July! The ProNutro Magalies Monster Team
  15. I've only had issues with the taxis in fourways area, had a couple of times were I've nearly taken their rear view mirror off cos they just pull over to load / offload with me between them and the curb (on the occassional on-road segment).
  16. I think I should get the missus some pepper spray. I've heard that a tazer isn't the most effective for self-defence, pepper spray is more effective.
  17. or grab those Weber oak chips from Game, soak em in water for an hour and chuck em over the coals before putting the lid on.
  18. the missus did the same on Sunday. Nothing better than gluwein in front of the fireplace when a cold front hits.
  19. great to hear.
  20. That's why i left the "make results public" option off for 1. And the area's off the polls (as vague as possible). If you're a criminal that uses thehub for targeting purposes, I don't see how this is going to give out any more info that standing on a street corner and counting cyclists.
  21. I think Eldron had it closest to my sentiment: I strongly object to let fear rule my life and restrict my lifestyle. That being said, I was interested to hear from ladies' perspective. I didn't want to be presumptuous and say "cos I haven't had any risk, my missus will be ok". Valuable feedback so far, thanks hubbers. keep it coming.
  22. I have a subject. am keen to slowly start on an SS project (the longer i take, the more chance i have to get strong enough to actually ride it ). excuse my ignorance... but rattlecan as in spray paint with a balletjie in it?? and what did you use for clearcoating?
  23. During the week, I sometimes ride in to work from the cradle (Gauteng), and haven't had any issues. My partner was keen to do the same, but being a lady and more vulnerable, her family is strongly against it. The ride in is mostly on footpaths along busy routes, with constant traffic. I was wondering how many hubbers ride alone, and where / when. From a safety aspect, its a must to ride in groups, especially with all the bike jackings going on, but thought it would be interesting to see some stats on how many lone-riders there actually are.
  24. got the same fork 6 weeks ago. during setup, i had a different approach - floodgate set to pretty "soft" (1 turn in). I'm 70kg, running pressure of about 5.2 give this a gander... http://fuzzz.gaulin.ca/2007/07/29/dial-in-your-reba-like-a-pro/
