  1. Update - Got my bike back from Dunkeld today, they did a top job, Mark really went out of his way to make things right, i guess they have won me over as a loyal client... I will be going back there
  2. Universal system tubeless
  3. Perma tubes, the ultimate in riding awesomeness.... rocks tremble at the mere sight of a perma tube laden wheel..... so frikkin awesome.....
  4. Just had a call from Mark at Dunkeld Cycles, seems someone showed them the thread, Mark seems really keen to make this right. Seems they have gone a long way to make this right and keep a customer. Good on you guys Guess I will be changing the thread name to Definitely using Dunkeld Cycles again.
  5. I appreciate your input but the guys did have a chance to rectify it and failed at it. Again like i said, if they couldn't get it right after having it for 3 weeks, chances are they won't.
  6. I guess its just the frustration of having to take my bike back there for a third time in a month, I really don't like having to fight with the guys. There is nothing wrong with their attitudes, they are all nice guys, there is just nothing more frustrating then getting on your bike after a major service and having a cr@p ride because the bike hasn't been serviced properly. One would think that they would check that everything is working properly before they call you to pick it up. Dunno if calling them and taking it back again is going to solve anything, they have had the bike for 3 weeks and couldn't get the back brakes right, seriously if they can't get it right then will they ever?
  7. Rant off. Dunkeld called to make the situation right, see my last post. Ok time for a rant..... Took my bike in for a service about a month ago, front shock wasn't locking out and had some issues with my brakes..... Strike 1: They hold the bike for two weeks waiting for a seal for the shock which it didnt need as the shock is only 3 months old.... Tell me to come get the bike its "all sorted". I ride it, front shock still not locking out and brakes no better with far too much play on the rear brake lever, almost touching the handlebar when I pull it. Strike 2: Take it back to them, tell them to take their time and get it right... one week later I pick it up and rode it this morning.... rode 40kms with the worst rear brake rub and squeaking.... aargh...... Oh and all of this for the bargain basement price of R1100! Actually not even going to bother with taking the bike back again, its obvious that they don't have a cooking clue what they are doing... Dunkeld epic fail! Next step for me a proper bike mechanic toolkit and a mechanic's course. If you want it done right....
  8. Specifically where your center of gravity is (might be too far forwards) and also check the angle of your forearms to your hands when gripping your handlebars, should be as straight as possible.... might be that your brake levers and shifters need to be moved downwards. Also might be an element of core strength missing causing you to slump forwards on your handlebars.
  9. set up definitely not right....
  10. I had same thing, my right cleat was too loose, causing my foot to move around on the pedal and hence the knee
  11. Cyclefit in Northcliff, they are very thorough; go to www.cyclefit.co.za for contact details
  12. np - right set up is not just a matter of getting saddle height right, has to do with issues like saddle positioning on the seatpost clamp, height, handlbar positioning, cleat set up etc, all of which are interrelated and all of which can affect the optimum saddle height and positioning.
  13. I went to Cyclefit for 2 set ups, one on the mtb and one on tandem, they really helped! Richard Baxter (one of Arran's team mates) does the set up, its really reasonable too, R350.
  14. Definitely bike set up, not sure where you are based but try out the guys from CycleFit, (Arran Brown & Richard Baxter), they did my set up for R350, they really do know what they are doing.
  15. ROFL .... This is just too funny for words.... Friday Funny!!!
  16. Hi Kieran Does your offer still stand?
  17. Hi Kieran Does your offer still stand?
  18. If you have R2500 to spend I would definitely go for the Garmin Edge 500:) Provided u want him to be able to use it as a cycling computer too.
  19. Hmmm. Sram Apex looks Niiice.... total weight = 3010g... and its nicer looking than the 6700.... Just when i thought my mind was made up someone had to throw a spanner in the works! So, new question, Sram Rival or Sram Apex???:clap:
  20. No surprises there... was my first 94.7 yesterday, first road race too, did it with the wife on a tandem... all i can say is the roadies could learn from the mtb'ers... cycling is supposed to be fun, no need to be sour all the time! That being said, i had a lot of fun riding past said "grouches" on the uphills
  21. Thanks for all the input guys... and the laughs
  22. That's an awesome price Kieran, thanks, Will PM u in the coming week, having the bike built up at a shop, so will check with them what they can do the rival for. Thanks a mil
  23. Thnx Tarmac, i was leaning that way
  24. Rival is R5700 on CWC and Shimano 105 R5450 on Buycycle, so no real price difference....
