  1. Agreed, it tastes too much like training and hard work...
  2. I wish I had the mindset to meander.... would be alot more fun that way. This morning rode 56kms, 710m climbing at 31km/hr. I do alot of my riding alone and dont really race on the road, so was just curious as to what I needed to average to keep up with the A/B bunch roadies.
  3. So here is a question; When you go out on your own roadbike, alone, i.e. no drafting, what is your average speed over a 2-3 hour ride.... would be interesting to hear from the likes of the A bunch riders out there. Oh and lets use an average of around 600m-800m climbing over the 2-3 hours.

  7. terrain pretty smoothe, not too many rocky sections
  8. sani seeding, where are you...??
  9. The million $$ question. Answer is nowhere in SA at the moment, I tried, vigorously. No american classics, no ZTR crest, no tyres. You can order directly from ZTR Crest in the US, but its gonna cost you $$$$. Probably around 7-8k for a set. I decided to wait until they become more mainstream here. Maybe contact TwoWheel trading and ask them to order for you, aint gonna be cheap though.
  10. This sounds more reasonable.
  11. LOL - I will refrain from mail bombing, but I will name and shame on every online and offline forum I can find if they dont come to some kind of a settlement. PS - In the meantime PM me if you would like the name of this establishment in case you intend on finding accomodation in Mossel Bay and wish to avoid the same trap.
  12. I guess another question would be, just becuase an establishment makes a disclosure of a term (i.e. non refundable deposit); does it make that term legal? I suppose the facts and circumstances of each case would have to be looked at separately w.r.t cancellation period, refund & cancellation policy etc.
  13. Thanks, that was my next step, I informed the guest house that I was referring my complaint to the National Consumer Comission on the grounds that; (abbreviated) 1. Right to disclosure of info - not disclosed 2. Right to fair and honest dealing
  14. Yes I did make the booking directly with the venue. I found and contacted them via SA Venues. If this is a requirement (accredited), then I suppose they are accredited. Does this make a difference in any way on this particular set of circumstances?
  15. There is no offical policy on their website. He did mention that there is a clause in a 3rd party website that I used to make the booking (sa-venues.co.za), but this website is generic and looks the same for all guesthouses / hotels. No mention was made of the deposit being non refundable in any of our dealings via email, and I still have all the correspondence. He also in this correspondance referred me to their website which makes no mention of this fact. I have printed out copies of the website pages in case he decides to alter it now after the fact. The guesthouse doesnt appear to be graded or part of an official tourism body. They do however sport the SA Flag.
  16. Would I get in trouble for this???
  17. Thats what I think. I am just wondering if it is worthwhile, and if I have legal grounds to consult a lawyer here. Consulting a lawyer is a very costly exercise and I am unsure whether to let this go or pursue it further.
  18. Does anyone have any kind of a legal understanding of the law under the Consumer Protection Act governing deposits paid to service providers? I booked accomodation for December 2012 2 months back and have unfortunately had to cancel. I have thus given the guest house 7 months advance notice. The guesthouse is refusing to refund the deposit. It is not a huge amount of money (R1800), but the principal here just seems wrong. Besides R1800 can buy a bunch of cycling goodies I see under the CPA that a guesthouse etc is allowed to charge a reasonable cancellation fee based on certain factors; one of which is the duration of the notice period given. I would think that if this guesthouse was unable to find a replacement in 7 months then it isnt a viable business to start with and is trading under false pretences. Any comments / suggestions from those of you in the know?
  19. That would be because you were looking at the 2011 seeding. Still no 2012 seeding on the site.
  20. I for one won't spend a single cent at cyclelab 4ways. I have tried on numerous occasions, only to find unfriendly unattentive staff and overpriced goods.
