  1. Now THAT i agree on.... spike energy drink sucks b@lls
  2. Yoh.... too funny... you guys should pretend that you aren't hubbers and then log in and read this thread with a fresh pair of eyes.... Flaming each other over your opinions. Yes its a hard race, yes I k@kked off too..... and yes everyone's experience would have been a little different depending on tech skill levels, equipment and fitness. Now go and remove your soiled diapers and act the age that your employers think you are
  3. Thanks JC- was my first VG too, wow toughest 70km race I've done. I had no back brakes down that satellite descent! Had to walk one or two sections..... Was a proper challenge indeed. If I do it again it will be on a soft tail..... Was thrown around like a rag doll on HT! My only complaint was that long grassy section before satellite ...... Sense of humor failure there !
  4. The route itself is nice, great for a chilled ride......its the other 9/10 riders that ruin it.
  5. And that is precisely the problem with the spruit. Too many highly strung, mountain bike wannabe's bashing their way through a multi directional trail the same way they drive their BMW's at 120km/hr in residential areas. ..... as if worrying about getting jacked wasn't bad enough. In my experience, ratio of cool friendly mountain bikers to knobs on the spruit..... about 1:10.
  6. Just be careful of getting any kind of contamination on your brake pads and rotors. So when you wash try not get degreaser / soap / lube on either of these.
  7. I got chased by an Ostrich at groenies last saturday.......k@kked myself properly! Was coming out of the twisty switch back section near the end of the loop when an Ostrich decided the trail was his.... I had to take evasive action (off the trail) .... thank goodness they burnt the grass there, otherwise I would have been in trouble..... the guy chased me for a good 200m..... Found some speed and technical abilities that I didn't know I had
  8. Nice article

ROFL - what a legend! This is exactly why he did it. To ruffle some roadie feathers. Looks like it worked;)
  10. Doing it on the tandem again this year ..... time to repay the Mrs for letting me ride Pioneer and Epic

Good meeting you on Saturday Andy..... sjoe, didn't enjoy EPR! I actually found D2D much easier than EPR, but there is a little more uphill:)
  12. VA - 8:10
  13. Green and black....... Breakaway attempt.... pffffttt I'm afraid my small frame aint gonna be of much use to you on the long flat roads....I'd probably just be a passenger. This is a warm up for me for D2D, just wanna get legspeed up and can hopefully fair better at D2D on the beeg climb.

That's never held you back before Paulie;)
  15. When I'm struggling I can't speak never mind shout..... I guess it will be a silent scream.... Hehe PS - I'll be in Coach One kit..... If you feel the need to team up against them other race snakes!
  16. Beware the long drag out of magaliesberg....... about 5-6kms of 2-3%...... but if the lads decide to turn up the pace there it can be quite painful.... and if you drop you face the long windy roads back to tarlton alone... anyways VA start for me. Hope to hang in.

IN! I like a race finish where its every man for himself..... probably the only local JHB race with a proper climb to finish.
  18. Wow what kind of bikes were they on...... I mean riding through the dam.... thats impressive
  19. A few of the top contenders rode only 40. Results for this one will be worthless
  20. Route marking was a joke. I entered 50 and ended up with 45kms, and most the guys at the sharp end ended up riding 40kms. Dunno who went wrong but all I know is the results are gonna be a mess.
  21. I was quoting directly from article in the business day..... back page. Maybe they misquoted Froome..... maybe they didn't.
  22. I think some guys here are a little too invested in their warm fuzzy feelings for Froome Dawg... I like the guy too, I want him to win, just didn't like him whinging about other guys taking the racing to him yesterday.
  23. Yes and Alberto who has won a few more grand tours than Froome! (albeit now unofficially!) he has got even more experience then froome. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a berto fan, but he was just racing, simple.
  24. Oh and PS - It's farking hot out there! Last year when Vinny and I arrived, we went on a warm up ride the day before..... we got more of a warm up then we bargained for...... 40 degrees celciuos warm to be exact!
  25. I like the way you show restraint Agtertos, just using your example. PS - when you race, you are responsible for your own line. Don't flame others when you pick their bad line. I'm sure all the racing guys here will agree with me.
