Either which way, it seems that the words and letter of the law are more important than whats right and whats wrong here. Just sayin. The legal system doesn't always end up with the right result, many cases have proven this. But technically, if you are arguing to the letter of the law, you are spot on. Bottom line is, a great champion died, from the eyewitnesses that made statements to the press the taxi was in the wrong, and Burry's death was in vein. Sad day, I'll let the legal folk with their semantics argue this one til the cows come home, it just doesn't seem right though.

A conviction - YES. This might just make motorists a little more aware of us cyclists on the road, knowing that there are real consequences to killing someone with your car. This is (was ) a golden opportunity to add some meaning to a senseless death - might have saved a few more lives down the line.

Wow, some guys on here actually defending taxi drivers, now I've seen it all Maybe I am using (some) assumption, but based on what was made public and based on how 99.99% of taxi drivers behave on the roads, and based on the fact that Burry was a pro bike handler and trained on those roads DAILY, I'm happy to give odds on my "assumptions" being correct. Our judicial system is such a joke, eclipsed only by the uniformed buffoons we call our police force. How can it be that NO senior political pressure of any kind has been exerted in this case (of ALL cases!!!) to ensure that justice is served and an example is set? What this now says is that don't worry about it, take your car, drive recklessly and kill people with it, no harm or justice will come your way, even if you killed an olympian. Disgusting.

Nothing... because saddle bags are asking for trouble.... And saddle bags are NOT cool.... they're kinda like mud flaps.... and flag posts on the rear wheel.... and a piece of cardboard secured to your rear stay with a peg... so as to make a motorbike noise...

I only greet roadies when I ride past them on my MTB ...... for some unknown reason they don't like to greet me back..... a rare dose of microphallus syndrome maybe?! Hehe, on a more serious note.... i think it is impossible to greet the 100's of riders you cross paths with on a weekend morning, rule of thumb, if eye contact is made or a smile is shown, I greet.
