  1. Woohoo, alternative rocks! Cycle Hard! Eventually all the jocks will become fat and stupid working a desk job for some company or something! It happens, im seeing that already after 4 years out
  2. Agree 100% its the fungus in really dirty Air Conditioners that make people sick! Its like the misconception that its because its cold in winter that people get the flu (due to low immunity or some rubbish)! this is not true, its just the more common season to get the flu or cold! You can get them in summer as well! Hence why cycling in the rain wont be an issue at all either! Back to the original topic Racing can show you how to push yourself, the more races the better! You need a Long-Term goal that you should strive for, and the other races (short-term goals) should push you in the direction of your long-term goal! So if your Long-term goal is the 94.7 for example, cut out races more or less 2-4 weeks before the event, but I'd say race pretty regularly as long as you are moving towards that long-term goal
  3. The easiest way is to find a reputeable Sport Scientist or Biokineticist who could provide a structured and well developed training plan based on an assessment and the time you have! This not only gives you an insight into a decent training programme from a qualified person, but you'l be extra motivated to stick to the programme! About splitting your training during the day: recent research has shown that individuals burn more energy if they split aerobic sessions into two during the day as opposed to one long session! you can use either of the sessions as a warm up session before doing some weights! You may not feel up to it, but weight training is essential and you should do at least half an hour of easy aerobic (60-75% MHR)
  4. The way I see it is that it's double edged! To get the schools to recognise cycling more is to get the government more involved! But now do we really want that to happen? Id say do cross-country purely because of the huge cross-training benefits! It also won't expose you to any major impact injuries! I had the same issue, I just stuck to the endurance sports! It works out in the end! Stay focussed and remember to do what YOU enjoy and what YOU want to! School is such a small part of life, its ridiculous
  5. I think every one has their horror story, pretty much all the same world over! As mentioned though our laws are stoopid! Britain you have to pass cyclists as if they were motor vehicles! therefore on the other side of the road when its able! I think its that person's personailty! You also get exceptional drivers; however they tend to be cyclists!
  6. Iv been waiting for the first shots of this groupset! It doesn't seem like it has any flaws! I need to win the European lottery or something! Its Red Hot (da doom, Tsssh) This is exactly what was needed for the market; it will get campy and shimano out of their comfort zones and force (da doom, Tsssh) them to become more innovative
  7. MMMMM I so have to win me a major tour stage someday! Looks like funn standing up there with beautiful girls in tight Lycra pants...... oh and then you have to kiss them too!
  8. Apparently podium girls are off grounds to the cyclists! I suppose its not a bad thing, could you imagine trying to ride a stage after a good night out <ahem> i dont think team management would be too impressed boeing2007-07-10 05:28:59
  9. So I was watching the presentation yesterday... and I have always thought that the girls presenting the "best young rider" were always the most beautiful, however... there was a bomb shell on the right of Tornado Tom when he received the Green Jersey! Any thoughts? Do you guys like the outfits, who get you steamed up the most? boeing2007-07-10 05:29:35
