  1. I have suffered for three long, painful years; I have had to study with this sort of person in one of my majors whats worse is I still have to get my personal trainers degree
  2. My 16 year old brother, one of the biggest anti-jocks around (he makes me so proud) goes around school fixing all the popped collars saying "There you go, now you don't look like a "
  3. Michelle, as always, thank you so much.
  4. let me see what I have in my medicine cupboard
  5. ha ha ha that isn't such a bad thing then. The rest of the day is pretty much of a write off. I find that having an hour power nap works wonders...... that and a shot of adrenaline
  6. lol the idea is to feel slightly worked at the start line; that way you don't shock your body when the action starts early, you are ready for anything. Anything less and I can feel that I am not running with all cylinders firing. If the ride is close enough to home, it is awesome to ride back too; you have no idea how much of world of good that does for you
  7. Ideally you should want a good 30 min warm up before a ride. I try and aim for about a 20km warm up, going through the motions, some sprints and then stretching 10 minutes at the start gate before the gun; however due to the early starts for the elites I seldom get to achieve this. That said, you want at least a half an hour warm up. Your body should then be ready. And don't just stretch either; for one you should never stretch cold and secondly you aren't prepping your cardiovascular system for the onslaught
  8. I wish I saw the program. Chris, if you say is true about how he dressed, I am in complete agreement with you
  9. Hecic. Something makes me think that the com's are a little touchy about really enforcing the rules of the race
  10. You don't say. I remember driving in the convoy for the Tour de Eden 3 years back; it is insane. It probably has got a lot worse! So did you win? Try being a rider that wants to try and use the convoy to get back into the bunch
  11. ha ha That isn't such a bad place to be. Are you feeling strong, because I bet you are hardly out of breath! *sigh* I see you are part of TCS That is good news,
  12. It was a horrible crash! He snapped the rear triangle near the dropout as far as I understand. It is good to see that he is riding though; I thought he would be out for at least 2 months. Balls of steel that! What was he like today? Did you ride?
  13. Good point. I was lacking a thought process there Apparently it doesn't look too nice. Michelle are you in close relation to Gary?
  14. Gary, how is your wrist doing buddy? Why weren't you riding the 928?
  15. That's the impression I got
  16. There is nothing wrong with just training with a HRM. The big advantages of working with a power meter are evident when you get into the faster bunches and small differences give you that advantage. Personally, the more training info you can get your hands on, the better. Knowledge is Power. I guess that's why Eskom fails to deliver
  17. ha ha just poking some fun. I can take it as well as dish it (which isn't always the case with a lot of people) btw how old are you?????
  18. Everyone is an individual. No athlete (pro or amateur) are the same. A coach will be able to put the athlete through tests and work out a decent training programme from there. The best option would be to seek the advice of a biokineticist who has access to labs and equipment. Apart from the intense specific data, the coach will offer motivation where a book can't. However I wouldn't suggest a personal trainer or a small BA Bio. A sports physiologist is a good way to go. There are some good people at the University of Johannesburg. Decent prices as well
  19. ooh. Someone's popular.....
  20. Maybe we should have a poll.... Italian, handmade bikes vs the factory thrown together things above
