  1. ah! makes more sense now same colour as my 5.5 Beautiful bike! I love the yellow nukeproofs. Where did you get this from? Did you have to order from overseas? I haven't found any local suppliers here. Can I ask how much you paid for it?
  2. Isn't this the 5.5? What year is yours? I've got the same frame... can it take 650b?
  3. that guy in the video has some mad skills!
  4. Look what I found! https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/55485-giant-reign-amenduro-build/ Buy it!
  5. That is a fantastic price for that bike! I've already spent much more than that to build up my Intense 5.5
  6. I bought an Intense 5.5. Awesome bike. Very limited in SA but try get an Intense or Diald Bikes do a Morewood Sukuma for about 16k for the frame. Also heard good things about the Giant Reign but never managed to ride it... You could also buy a hardtail steel frame like the Cotic bFe for around 4500 for the frame and chuck a 160mm fork on there. Will be able to blast down any trail and ride up trails as well. In my opinion I still dig 26ers and will stick with them.
  7. Nice one. I'd say spray it all black as well. Will look slick.
  8. Upgrade the brakes to SLX buddy, best decision I ever made.... I had those crap Avid elixirs. there were terrible! SLX works very very well. Upgrade to 2 x 10 or even 1 x 10 if you dont use your granny gear that much. Fork = U Turn, Sektor or Reba.. or... if you have money, get a Fox fork, those things are flippin awesome!
  9. I'm seriously keen. Will have to wait couple weeks before my car is ready though.. it's at the mechanic. I love Tokai. We should go through one weekend. Most likely end of the month
  10. Hey guys, I just saw that Diald Bikes now stock Morewood frames... and you can include a fork, headset and seatpost in your purchase. I like the Sukuma! http://dialdbikes.co.za/morewood-sukuma-frame.html Wish I had the monies for this
  11. I saw there is a wednesday morning ride but then I have to go to work after haha but perhaps I shall try. I joined the night ride last week and got left in the dark. Legs are not fit for going uphill
  12. I've got an Intense 5.5 Recon fork 120mm. (Looking to upgrade to a revelation or sektor) Crappy 8 gear sram I'd like to try some small jumps for now.. maybe some table tops just to learn how to do it.
  13. Nah, I'm lazy, I like taking the bus to town and then cycling up table mountain.. plus all those uphills are killer going up the mountain so i need to save my energy. You ride table mountain a lot? I'm looking for more riding buddies going up there on the weekends starting from deer park.
  14. I will definitely join one saturday then. I can fit in a baby seat haha. cool man. I'm sure I'll get my car back in a couple weeks.
  15. Sounds like a plan! My car is still getting fixed at the mechanic so I can only get to table mountain on the MyCiti bus haha. I'll take you up on your offer when my car is back though!
  16. I'm in Milnerton but I wouldn't mind driving out once I get my car back from the mechanic. Haha. sorry dude, accidentally clicked on reply on one of the other threads.. or maybe I do want her lol... In Milnerton but I'm keen to drive anywhere once I get my car back from mechanic. I've been to Tokai, Meerendal, Majik forest, table mountain/deer park. I've seen some nice jumps at Tokai and couple people ripping them up but I have no clue how to get started.
  17. Any guys in Cape Town willing to get together and teach me how to jump and freeride? Need to learn from guys with experience. Also no fun riding alone.
  18. Anyone keen for some weekend rides?
  19. I got a Nespresso U with a separate frother. It's amazing. We also bought a pack of 100 pods with all the different flavours. I have not looked back and can't drink ricofee etc anymore. haha. coffee snob.
  20. Hey guys, any guys up for a slow ride on sunday?
  21. rather save up every month and then after a year get something decent... I'd say look at spending between 3 - 5k for a decent entry level bike. The more you spend the better parts. You can pick up a MTB at Sportsmens for around 3k but then it's probably a 7 speed with a fixed front fork. For 3 - 5k for 2nd hand though, you can find something decent. So my biggest recommendation would be to save up and then buy something a lil later.
  22. dam country is obsessed with 29ers... 29ers are so gay!
  23. O my goodness. I must go! Need to start saving.. and maybe learn how to Jump at TOkai before I join haha.
  24. The rear travel does not need to match the front travel. Rear travel depends on the use of the bike....ie. if you want to use it for AM then the rear shock would probably be about 140. I've got a Fox 140mm rear shock and a Recon silver 120mm front shock and the bike rides really well.
  25. Thanks for the info dude Will wait for a while until I can get the fork and then upgrade the headset at the same time.
