  1. Where did this happen?
  2. Agree with idrive. If you paying for the timing it should be done properly. Not lekka-slapgat-when-I come-off-my-high I'll do it. Have been to tri's where there is no elec timing and results are posted same day or next morning latest.
  3. I've got Dura-Ace 180's which I'm keen to swap.
  4. Watched a lot of it (and enjoyed it ), but they really are not in great physical condition. There are a couple who work really hard at it but they are not the majority. Think Ntini can run sub 20min 5km, not too bad.
  5. By the look of most cricket players I doubt it was "performance" enhancing.
  6. Had an idiot coming up behind us this morning (3 of us running) shouting "track! track! track!". Didn't know there was a race going on where he was going to loose valuable time... Cyclists are by far more arrogant than runners.
  7. on our law enforcement... three events, hit by car, cop lost the witness list, lost my info, lost the accident report, lost the detail of the idiot that hit me, kept on getting re-assigned, after numerous follow ups, no investigation has been done... was burgled, cops catch crooks only to steel 1/2 my stuff from the crooks (even though they wrote it up in their book)! When I asked to take it further, I was offered a meeting at the Honeydew station. On walking in to meeting room, 6 or 7 cops are in the room, asking what I think would happen if I took it further... brand new car, dronkie goes thru red light, car stuffed cops don't think it is necessary to pitch up... (no accident report meant no dronkie behind bars and no excess payback) So far, the cops owe me R70k. Can I put that on my tax return?
  8. Who is this manufacturer??
  9. Shiez, that is one scary/impressive antie!!
  10. Big up to Al for his quick replies to email and pm!! Thanks again! Dropped the bike off at FPC Irene about 30min ago and should have it back on Monday. Mampara, so right, only new swing arm. Damn FS! Not actually sure about color matching (didn't ask), guess it will be a suprise.
  11. chucky, you can have it. Apparently there are dimpled bottles which save 20sec on a 40km road TT (tunnel test results). Getting 5 of those, so I should save 1:40s.
  12. Thanks for the info and DIY tips!! My frame is 3 years old, are there any warranties on these things? (this is a question in hope but doubt it) Brighter-Lights, how much did the replacement cost you?
  13. Samma, dankie, ga nou probeer. Scorpione, go have a cookie.
  14. The frame cracked/snapped on the tube that I pressume keeps the shock system "up". The point of break is on a weld. So, can this be fixed? If so, who should I take it to? There is a FPC Irene is close by. And can I keep riding it? I went for a ride again this afternoon with no prob. Just makes a terrible metal sound every now and again.
  15. Joe Low, always on the sharper side Nearly drove into a tree when I heard that.
  16. Just wanted to know how many tubes to bring, 4 or 6
  17. Okay, I'm in. How long is the ride?
  18. Mancebo went to have that neck muscle fixed. That thing looks freaky under pressure.
  19. Flea, 18hours! Nonsense. Min per week, 10-11 hours (2h swim, 6-7h bike and 2h run) is possible. It really isn't that a big deal especially if you already swimming. It is actually easier than pool (salt water and the fear of things below)! Swim sessions between 2km-4km total and only 2-3 times a week. Don't need more than 1000m continuous swimming. Make sure you can bike 180km, alone, no one to talk to, no one to pace, absolutely on your own. Do a 200km (for mental). Learn to pace. On running, lots of don'ts. Don't go big. Don't train at 4:30min/km. Don't brick. 6min/km is a 4:12 run. Learn to eat on the run. Baked potatoes are fantastic (you'll be loving something salty after 20 powergels). If you even thinking of IM, don't, just enter!!
  20. Seems like Banji wasn't too far off.... ML has secured a sponsor (as per Nic's reply) and I strongly doubt he is going it alone in '09. The question should be, why is this happening in June?!?! But hey, this is great news for SA racing.
  21. I am quite willing to sacrifice being able to pick the "perfect" line and as trade-off not bliksem off my bike. Long life FS for first time buyers!
  22. IMO, don't over stress the marathon thing. Only ever done two marathons, both at IronMan. My longest training run, 32km. If you not use to running, don't go out the blue blast 40km+/week into your legs. You will pick up annoying injuries! Increase your millage slowly and increase your pace even slower (it is IM, not 800m Olympics) And yes, I did walk (a lot!) at IM. 90% of the field does. Btw, why the 12 hour target? Got to beat a mate's time?
  23. Wetsuit makes, ORCA, IronMan, 2XU. About R2-5k depending on level. (I've got a nice 2nd hand one for R1500, size 10, Orca Predator Making 12h cut is difficult to say without knowing your background (are you a swimmer or runner, have you done 180km on a bike, in what time?) Break your IM into 3 (realistic) targets for the swim, bike and run. Then set training plan round those targets. Good luck! It is worth it.
  24. Wolverine, checked our ride for sat, it was below 0 at times!! It was between -1 and 2 for over an hour. Was actually going to stop at one point to check if my toes haven't vrot off. Kept telling myself, only 8 more weeks...
  25. Sean, pity more people don't use bicycles for transport yes....but again, where do we draw the line? he probably went 2 or 3 off ramps. Can I then go 4 off ramps? Okay, what about 6? Next thing (and I would love too!) I'll be riding from Rivonia to PTA, only 45km, perfect for morning and afternoon ride. Also, didn't we recently have a loss of a cyclist's life on the N1???
