  1. Slowjoe he got back on monday and has been building shacks in some township (not for his personal use of course) Think he's just been too busy.
  2. One of the problems is, open any cycling magazine and you'll see pics of professionals riding races without helmets. This doesn't project a good image. Agreed that most of the time they do wear helmets, but it should be all of the time, not most of the time. Maybe I'm missing something about professional riding.

  13. Christie thanks for the effort. Yup, definitely don't want to train on tubbies.I've been told to slime them so that even if you do puncture, better chance of getting home. Not quite at the team car stage yet, but we live in hope.
  14. thanks buckstopper. My race wheels are a set of reynolds straus with tubbies. (came with the bike) and they roll beautifully, but I can't use them for training To throw in another thing...what about having a set of wheels built. Will cost about R4000 in all. (don't really want to spend R4000 but in the very long run it may be cheaper) Is this better than buying say the dura ace from solomons?jeremyd2007-09-05 01:31:21
  15. the problem is all the LBS sell a particular wheel and each think theirs is the best. I weigh in at about 98kgs so this is definitely a consideration.
  16. what are Pro Lite Como Alloy wheels like for training wheels. I don't have tons of money left (after buying my merlin baby) to spend. Is the price of R1500 a fair price for these including michelin tyres and 105 10 speed cassette? What are the best value for money training wheels?jeremyd2007-09-04 12:51:20

  19. The siena 2005 model is a combo carbon/Ti. I spoke to Litespeed and they said this was simply a fashion thing and is not done anymore. (download their latest brochure..ooooooh! enought to make you go weak at the knees)
  20. The video was actually shot for a tv station and not for litespeed. They did drive over whole frames but apparently it was thought that people would think that the Ti frame was filled with a resin if it wasn't shown as a cross section. (don't know why they could demo it and then cut a cross section). But interesting nonetheless. Another argument for Ti out there appears to be that if you have a hairline crack in your Ti frame, you have an incredibly good chance of getting home, whilst a crack in a carbon frame, has a much higher risk of doing you in before you finish your ride. (don't shoot the messenger, this is one of the many thoughts about Ti vs Carbon out there ). (you can see I've done a lot of reading about this topic)

There doesn't seem to be a right or wrong. Some people say it's a fashion thing. Others will tell you Ti flexes too much. Everyone agrees about one thing, whether it's carbon or Ti make sure it's a reputable manufacturer. Litespeed appear to be tops (I only say appear) in the titanium stakes but this is probably because of the exposure here compared to other Ti manufacturers. Ti is definitely stronger and will take a lot more punishment when you fall, but then who aims to fall a lot. Those who ride titanium, love it. Those who ride carbon, love it.   23. bugger... saw word's wheels last night and it brought a tear to the corner of my eye. There was a moment where redistribute came to mind.
  24. yes well back to the topic at hand. I also changed my rear cassette and haven't had a decent ride since. Been back to LBS three times and they've since changed the chain as well as the cassette. (the one I had on was only 6 months old) I'm seriously thinking of reverting back to the original cassette that came with the bike
