  1. Check your latest facebook friend request - sure will be pleasantly surprised
  2. http://distilleryvesper4-8.ak.instagram.com/39d08dc8c31511e384ab24be059cf750_101.mp4 Sê maar dankie vir die Afrikaanse outjie :-)
  3. As last year, we shall again be doing it on our full suspension mountainbikes, with big ass knoblies and all - doing our first training ride tomorrow morning.
  4. We have all seen the posts that you refer to (those who get deleted) - they get deleted not so much for the original question that was posed, but rather for the crap that follows after that. As with this thread here on The Hub, you NEVER let something go until you are satisfied with it. If questions are answered in a way that you do not like or you feel is not sufficient, you will just go on and on and on, in the process irritating most members and causing them to perhaps say nasty things and the boxing match starts.....then the admin has no other option to remove the thread, as obviously a thread with constant "fighting" should not be for a public forum. I state again, that we have 2 000 folk and imagine if each one of them wanted their own request to be met, failing which they will keep on with it like you are.....thank goodness that is not the case. I personally feel that some limited queries of yours in the past, had merit, but if the club (for whatever reason) feels differently, so be it - surely you must be mature enough to accept it and not keep on flogging a dead horse. From previous replies to your Fbook comments, many (in my opinion, most) people have no issues with the Burry Stander S-track section or the water channels on it - it makes for interesting riding and will only help improve less skilled riders. We will NEVER please all the riders, sometimes the newbies will have to stay away from certain trails if they are new to the sport and needs to get more confidence - other occasions, the more skilled riders must accept that the trails are not technical and does not challenge them. Everyone must accept the trails that the club put in place for us and if there are sections that a few would like to see changed, and it is not, just accept it and move on. The way I see it, a few people want things changed in the club (trails, communication, etc), but if it does not happen to their satisfaction, they will not rest and keep on "stirring" - it is exactly this "stirring" that annoys so many of the members who do accept the club, trails and importantly the committee, just the way they are (with all shortcomings included). Golfers do not go on Fbook and other media forms to complain about three of the 18 holes that is not located correctly or the green not being flat enough - if the golfers do not like the greens, they get another club. Okay, I know golf is not a sport and actually a disease, but you should get my point. You have no end....every comment that is made here, you reply to with vigour. Perhaps this is a personality issue or characteristic of yours, which again, each of us are unique and one accepts, BUT still one need to look at the bigger picture and sometimes force yourself to refrain from being yourself. I personally believe you would have been a very good politician, and this is intended as a compliment. However, I speak on behalf of a vast majority of members who find your actions here and previously on Fbook very disturbing and in poor taste. I have no doubt that you will again reply and repeat yourself as you have continuously done, but I have stated my feeling on the matter.
  5. The news of Burry Stander's passing - shocked, is a MASSIVE understatement. A loss of life remains a loss, but even more tragic when killed by Taxi whilst cycling !!!! A legend, an inspiration, a role model and humble ambassador to the sport and SA. What a tragic, tragic day for all cyclists, but more so for his wife and family.
  6. Done - best of luck. #inspired
  7. Always welcome - drop me a mail at morneveer@mweb.co.za next time. Are you a Tygerberg Club member ? If not, bring lots of cash for various permits, but it makes so much more sense to be a club member. Kindest
  8. Longest option with all of the options combined will be 40 - 45 kms max. You should be done within 3 hours or slightly more if you are planning on taking pics ! Enjoy, I will be leaving Magic at 06h30 to do that route myself.
  9. When playing around on the trails in the week, you will get away with any bib shorts in my opinion, BUT when you are doing long hours in the mountains or training / riding long rides, you surely need to infest in quality. I have Assos Uno and the Mille and can vouch for their comfort on the cheeks, but also an absolute snug / race fit to the rest of the body. I know some will say a bib is a bib, but that is def not the case. Drive a 11hundred Atos to Gauteng and drive a 2,5 German brand vehicle with all the bells and whistles to Gauteng, and see if there is a difference...........

  12. So much for the weather predictions of "no rain" for tonight Turned out to be a nice ride anyway, thank Marius and co for joining despite the temptations to rather remain indoors.
  13. Latest forecast is looking goooood, there should not be any reason to keep us indoors tonight.
  14. Weather seems to be playing along...for now at least.
  15. Have to agree. Reading a book about flying an airplane might give you an idea of what to expect when you get into the cockpit, but you sure as hell will need proper training to get off the landing area. Same applies to mountainbiking - time on the bike is the only way to improve your skills and handling of the bike. Things like taking the correct lines and proper brake application will come automatically as you develop your riding. Guess there is no harm in reading such material, but do not for one moment think you are going to be a better biker for being a nerd for a few hours - especially not if you are a novice at mountainbiking !
  16. What exactly don't you know ?
  17. It was amazing to be a part of this awesome event this morning. A few of the usual suspects first went out for a nice 60 km ride on the mountain bikes before getting the energy levels up again with a rooi ambulansie (aka Coca Cola). I dropped some treats and toys at the shop yesterday and was very impressed by the amount of goods donated, but this morning there were a lot more. People delivered food, veg, clothes, etc. and it is just again a testimony to the human spirit. I have been involved with a friend of mine who is very active in social development in the Ruyterwacht "squatter camp" - sorry, but that is exactly what it is, and one can not believe the circumstances the individuals (especially the kids) are forced to live in. I told Melanie this morning that sometimes all of us need a bit of a reality check to fully understand what is going on in some communities. I trust and believe that all of us would on a regular basis be part in more / similar projects. We have so much to be thankful for. Thanks again to CWC for their initiative and setting the example. 18. @ Crackerjack - there are similar bikes selling for R12000 - R13000. @ Tubeless - the Anthem is a great ride, been riding the Anthem range for the past 4 years. I think you need to neg with your dealer on the 2010 bike, they should be able to give you a good deal as they want to clear there floors for the new 2011 bikes.
  19. Moes ongelukkig vanaand kliënte sien, maar sal so gou moontlik weer "in die ding" probeer kom. Het maar gou vroeër 'n vervelige spinning klas gaan doen.
  20. Dié outjies "ROCK" !!
  21. Sorry "mom" Was told that there was no formal night ride. I refer to the other two as hardcore as they did the normal 50 km route in less than 2 hours with no slip advantage. See you next week
  22. There was no ride this week, but two of the hardcore boys still went out and did the route by themselves. Apparently the wind was hectic for a large part of the route, but hey, as a friend of mine used to say: It can only be good for you. Strange that this friend has not been on a bicycle for 4 years and is now playing golf ?? As for myself, I was out doing 2 hours of hard riding at Magic Forest, but will be back with the CWC boys next week.
  23. Started to pick up here in the northern suburbs as well
  24. The "fast" group keeps the pace nice and high out on Wellington Road at about 43-45 km/h, but not to worry, it does go up to 50 + km/h occasionally
