  1. Dear MDM1's wife: You go girl! Cannot wait for the pool guy to post a thread bitching and moaning because his wife kicked his arse. In the meanwhile, welcome to our wonderfull world of mtb-ing. Hope you can enjoy it together as much as me and my Precious!
  2. Guys, we all make mistakes. I sometimes miss cars in my blindspot, let alone a bicycle. Oh, and the guy stopped. We heard so much of guys just spedding off lately. The poor guy was propably still in shock after the Curry cup loss and now this. Shame, give him a break.
  3. We demand powerbalance bands, waffles and popcorn in every racepack.
  4. I had a very bad dog. Had it replaced and no problems now. Had a very bad pie once but had to replace an o-ring after that. Sorry, dont know about the knee thing (bump)
  5. Dear G. Sometimes ranting and raving isn't enough. Try Prozac. If that doesn't work, you can revert back to insulting your fellow hubbers on their weight. Understand that for some, moaning about their LBS is like someone moaning about your wife. Defense is inevitable.
  6. Yes, there are lovely routes. Call Leon at Hermanus cycles on 087 8079 016.
  7. Grease-up the freewheel body inside. Remember the days of our youth when we put cardbourd pieces on the fork so that the spokes would hit it and make that sound? Boy, we were cool!
  8. Bike fit = best money ever spend on my bike. A must do, even if you think your setup is good.
  9. taking a guess here, but judging from the colour, it looks like a Gary Fisher 29". Won't be the 1st one I see in that state. If your seatpost was inserted deep enough (as specified minimum), you should be good for a refund. Bike can't be older than a year or so?
  10. See what I mean with full description and picture?
  11. You are new here (welcome), so you will be excused. Full descriptions and a picture are a must if you want any response. A picture of your sister in the background earns you extra credits. Only plumber crack pictures is not required.
  12. Isn't the mtb grips the wrong way round?
  13. The other day I was riding my mtb and a guy came past. He threw sand in my eye. Wheeeeee!!!! snif snif wheeeee!!!!! But serious, by reading this thread, I can see I will not enjoy road racing. If the only thing to be enjoyed is your finish time (with thanks to many others pulling your bunch and the Standard Bank guys), it cannot be worth it. Myself are a Absa mtb man. Today, tomorrow, together
  14. Would simply love to ride a 29" full suzz tandem with the wife. Wonder if there are any out there? I ate all my veggies, did not kick the dog or swore at the neighbour, so please Santa...
  15. Sidewall cuts on proper UST tyres is not likely to happen. Never ever had a bad sidewall cut on a Maxxis or Conti UST. If the cut is not through the casing, it should not become a problem, but you do get some patches specifically for tubeless tyres. I think it is by Lezyme (or something like that). Funny thing is they do not stick to Specialized 2Bliss tyres (where sidewall cuts do occur regularly compared to proper UST).
  16. Welcome to the other side Jaco! Hope you wil find as much joy out of MTB as we do, and remember the atmosphere and comoraderie you experienced on Sunday when you become a race snake. Never take it too serious not to want to help another rider (most riders would have stopped to help you if you had a puncture, promise). I think you will do just fine with a "real" mtb race as you could climb "Sorry" and there is a lot of "Sorries" in a "real" mtb race, although we call them "thank yous".
  17. klap...klap
  18. Same fork for me, but I find it very hard to measure sag as it almost "locks", even in open position, untill you hit some bumps (similar to old Fox X). I run much higher pressure, 100psi front, 160psi back (RP23) 80kg.
  19. Not a good place to take a leak then!
  20. Did 8hrs over the weekend. For the first time used a proper supplement for recovery during and after ride. Usually would be wasted today, but I feel GREAT! Can't wait for my next ride. Thanks for your advise guys.
  21. Take both, pick the best one and give me the looser. We can share the overnight freight cost.
  22. Unless you're being paid to ride your bike, eating sensibly, riding your bike and having fun are what it's all about. Do those and you will go every bit as fast as you would do by manufacturing expensive pee. This is me talking two days ago, but I spend too much time on the hub and google yesterday. It's the eating sensibly part, especially during and after a lekka ride that's so much easier to do with a bottle filled by stuff made by people who knows better. Also what's the difference in price between a plate of the right food compared to a bottle of the right stuff? I don't think that much.
  23. You ride with ProNutro in your Camelbak? Guess that's breakfast on the go!
  24. I realized yesterday that I happily empty my pockets for bike bits and stage race fees, but I am very stingy towards spending on energy/recovery/nutritional products. Surely the engine is more important than the rest of the car. What's the use of polishing the pistons, lowering the suspension, putting HP tyres on and installing turbos (training) if you put Diesel in the petrol tank! Suspecting I am not the only one! (sponsors, this is where you PM me for bribes )
  25. Do you find you have gotten quite strong on the short power rides? No, I am fine on longer rides. I cannot cope with the short hard rides.
