  1. I officially have a new dream bike. Pitty this year's bonus goes towards filling the hole the current dream bike made a year ago!
  2. Will be in Hermanus during that period. Keen to check out the rides towards Gansbaai. Will also do the monster climb over the mountain into Salmonsdam reserve 20km inland from Stanford (The Epic crossed over there about 3 or 4 years ago).
  3. Thanks guys! Will try your advise today B-L. Used to service my Fox (a breaze), but still jittery to open up the SID. Will read up and do that next week.
  4. If I let all the air out top and bottom, the fork just depress completely unassistant. If i let all the air out the bottom only it does go to full travel potensial (0% travel). I did about 100hr with the fork and it has been like this from the start.
  5. My fairly new Rock shock SID does not depress to it's full travel. It is always at 10% travel without me on the bike. It is also very stiff. If I pump it (top air chamber 1st, bottom air chamber 2nd) to the recommended pressure, I cannot depress it more than about 40mm when pushing down on the fork with my full body weight. With my ex fox RL100 I could depress it about 80mm when sag was set at 10%. Is this normal for a Rock shock? PS: No, it is not on lockout
  6. I will also be keen. Not taking part in the national series because I do not want to keep the top buys up. Been doing the Karkloof XC races the part couple of years and it is totally awesome. Would like to do a amateur series. Go for it and good luck!
  7. Works ok, but do not get it anywhere near your brake rotors or tyres! Funny thing about that race is that you hope it doesn't rain when the alternative is incredible heat at high humidity. Love the race, but wish it wasn't in December. Another tip is to wear a water resistant cap (brow type) with a long brow under your helmet. Keeps the water from you helmet spunges from running into your face and protecting you from those drops at higher speeds. Also fit a piece of cut tube between your fork crown and uppers. It flexes when the fork depresses and prevents the mud from being shot out in front of you (this is the mud you ride into that gets in your eyes. Go with the right mindset, riding in rain and mud can be fun, but if you loose your sense of humour, it's all over.
  8. O, and it's the 1st GT that I see without Kendas. Now that may be a step in the right direction.
  9. The frame is interesting but ugly. A white or black with that gloss finish would look awesome. Even a Raleigh would look good with all those specs.
  10. Sounds like the problem is your bb only. They can be replaced seperately (unless you itch somewhere and you want to scratch If you scratch, spares availability, weight and value for SLX is tops! Also consider Aerozine carnks. The weight of XTR at the cost of XT. Happy shopping!
  11. You'll be amazed how much good stuff the are in mould. Leave it like that for long enough and for your next race nutrition, just add water (and take some white gold with on the ride, just for incase).
  12. Dear Santachris. I wish to buy that bicycle bell thingy that says "track please" in a polite and verrrrry petit ladies voice. Does not have to be carbon or titanium. Oh...and while you are at it, get me a set of Spartagus legs, I will pay R2400 ea no quarrel! Love your work
  13. Easy to make those patties. You just drive over a cow with a steam roller. Wonder if RegLizard had his snake burger yet?
  14. Dear MDM1's wife: You go girl! Cannot wait for the pool guy to post a thread bitching and moaning because his wife kicked his arse. In the meanwhile, welcome to our wonderfull world of mtb-ing. Hope you can enjoy it together as much as me and my Precious!
  15. Guys, we all make mistakes. I sometimes miss cars in my blindspot, let alone a bicycle. Oh, and the guy stopped. We heard so much of guys just spedding off lately. The poor guy was propably still in shock after the Curry cup loss and now this. Shame, give him a break.
  16. We demand powerbalance bands, waffles and popcorn in every racepack.
  17. I had a very bad dog. Had it replaced and no problems now. Had a very bad pie once but had to replace an o-ring after that. Sorry, dont know about the knee thing (bump)
  18. Dear G. Sometimes ranting and raving isn't enough. Try Prozac. If that doesn't work, you can revert back to insulting your fellow hubbers on their weight. Understand that for some, moaning about their LBS is like someone moaning about your wife. Defense is inevitable.
  19. Yes, there are lovely routes. Call Leon at Hermanus cycles on 087 8079 016.
  20. Grease-up the freewheel body inside. Remember the days of our youth when we put cardbourd pieces on the fork so that the spokes would hit it and make that sound? Boy, we were cool!
  21. Bike fit = best money ever spend on my bike. A must do, even if you think your setup is good.
  22. taking a guess here, but judging from the colour, it looks like a Gary Fisher 29". Won't be the 1st one I see in that state. If your seatpost was inserted deep enough (as specified minimum), you should be good for a refund. Bike can't be older than a year or so?
  23. See what I mean with full description and picture?
  24. You are new here (welcome), so you will be excused. Full descriptions and a picture are a must if you want any response. A picture of your sister in the background earns you extra credits. Only plumber crack pictures is not required.
  25. Isn't the mtb grips the wrong way round?
