  1. I thought that might have been you. I passed you today shortly after we passed a group of 2 ladies and a girl - looked like they were looking for something. I was on an all black Cannondale and carried a red backpack.
  2. I was about to ask if this is the same guy. Sounds impossible but it actually happened - I was very active on the 4x4 community at the time of that incident. I remember it vividly, but was luckily not part of the party.
  3. It is distributed by Rush Sports, the same guys that distribute Signal in South Africa.
  4. I'd love to try them if you don't mind. I think the one on my son's bike is at least a 90mm but possibly even longer.
  5. I am looking for a stem for my son's 26er. The bike is a little bit too big for him, possibly only for the next couple of months. He is a light weight and does not ride hard(yet) so it can be any cheapy and I don't care about the cosmetic condition. The shorter the better.
  6. I have a SRAM X9 3-speed front shifter if you are interested. https://www.spokeshop.com/product/sram-x9-3-speed-front-trigger-shifter-185040-1.htm
  7. Get a sweet used 26er above a crappy 29er, no matter how tall or short you are... I'd also go for the Titan out of those choices.
  8. Titan also make the Calypso range for the ladies.
  9. I do Wolwespruit as well BRB is just so close to me and I do one ride with the wife and kids and one alone or with other friends most weekends. More often than not one of the weekend rides is at BRB. I try to do all the "local" trails. I have done Buffelsdrift, Wolwespruit, Big Red Barn, Hazeldean Valley, Rosemary Hill, Taroko Trails, Hennops and Cradle Moon. I think this is the lot that I have done so far. I still have to do Hedianga Farm, Northern Farms, Iron Throne, Grootfontein and Hobby Park. Not sure if there are others reasonably close by that I don't know about or should consider? What time do you guys ride in wintertime usually?
  10. I should also join you. I ride Big Red Barn most weekends. I was there solo on Saturday.
  11. To add to what @Steady Spin has said above many/most of the differences you won't notice. I ride a 26er and everyone that I ride with have 29ers, except for my wife - she has a 27.5". The faster you pedal, the faster you go. If you are a downhill champion you will notice the 29" wheel keeping speed easier than the smaller wheels. If not, the speed depends on you. What I have noticed with smaller wheels is the are less stable than the larger wheels but the flip side of the coin is a more maneuverable bike. Over rough terrain like rocks and roots the larger wheels are definately better. In the end I'd much rather have a high-end 26er than an entry-level 29er.
  12. Heck if you are willing to go for a 26er like me you can get one hell of a bike for R5k.
  13. Trioblade looks to be a really cheap Indian or Chinese manufactured bicycle. Looks to be identical to the Gielang and Galaxy bicycles. They are really very cheaply(poorly) made. I'd rather buy a Raleigh from Makro than one of those. For R4k you can buy a new Apex 29er. Still a very basic bicycle that is not intended for trails at all but will be fine if you plan on riding on pavement in fair weather. For R6k rather go for a used bicycle with quality components.
  14. Yes I have done a fit for them. My eldest son can do with a slightly shorter stem which I will get in the near future.
  15. That soundsike a good idea. Most off the shelf kids bikes are terrible. My sons both had BMXes first. They loved them but we do trails every weekend and a BMX is not the ideal trail weapon. The Titan Hades 24D is great for my 8 year old. Anything bigger will be too hard for him to manage. Once he gets a little bigger I will put my 26" RockShox Reba Team fork on the front with the light American Classic wheels and see how it turns out as a mullet. My 12 year old has a small frame 26er which at this point is slightly too big for him but he should grow into it in a few months.
  16. My son has a Titan Hades. One downside is the weight but it has a low top tube, disc brakes and a basic shock. I took this photo off the web but my son's is identical.
  17. 9 Speed MicroShift from what I can tell. Many other kids bikes have a low top tube so I don't see anything new here?
  18. So the only thing that is more adjustable on it than any other kids bike is the pedal position on the crank arms ie. crank arm length? The light weight is awesome but it looks more like an urban cruiser than a mountain bike. Why the V-brakes? With my kids I specifically bought them new bikes with the only real requirement being disc brakes.
  19. They do night rides but we actually finished just as it got dark. Was a great ride!
