  1. Flippit I checked based on the serial number and recall it being a 2008. Could have been 2009. It is the Rush SL, not sure if that makes a difference. This is the headset I currently have installed for my straight steerer Reba:
  2. After searching all over the place and talking to 11.3 million people it seems nobody has a damn clue. Combined all my researched knowledge and now know what I need (I think ???? ). The Carbon Rush has a a Headshok 1.56" headtube but the alloy one has a standard 1.5". I have an alloy one. Mine does not take the bearings into the frame but rather has cups that are pressed into the frame. Long story short: what I need is a EC49/40 lower headset assembly. I will re-use the top assembly which is a ZS49/28.6 Am I making sense?
  3. That is a great achievement! Enduro Seal is awesome. I have it in my tubeless tyres and in the tubes on my wife's bike.
  4. Absolutely nothing wrong with the Raidon that is already on there.
  5. The Specialized is not exactly a bargain at that price. Very basic bike with a straight head tube which limits your possibility for upgrading the fork. The GT seems decent at the price and has Suntour XCR air fork. The Momsen also has the XCR air fork but has 1x12 drivetrain which is quite a bit nicer than that on the GT. The Momsen has basic Tektro hydraulic brakes and the GT has basic Shimano hydraulic brakes. Both should be adequate. Not much in in between these two as far as I am concerned. The Momsen does look to be in a better condition.
  6. I have found a great deal on a virtually unused Manitou Magnum 27.5+ fork with both the stock 120mm travel spring as well as an upgraded 140mm airspring. I will now have to get hold of a 27.5 front wheel in order to fit the 15mm TA Boost fork (and still get my Headshok to tapered converter headset) and will then run a 27.5/26 mullet and see if I want to change the rear wheel to 27.5 as well.
  7. It might have been true in the distant past but the cables you buy today are pre-"stretched". All your sleeve ends/ferrules, etc might not be seated perfectly and these will settle with use. If properly installed you MIGHT have to adjust it a little after installation with one of the barrel adjusters. I have in the last few months installed new cables and housings for a few derailleurs, cable disc brakes and a dropper post and none have required any adjustment a few rides in.
  8. I cannot see why not. It is quick, easy and cheap to do.
  9. I am a software engineer. Not sure that counts ????
  10. Quite right ????
  11. It has an XT crank and old XT rear derailleur but the shifter are like @Chip says the Deore LX shifters that use one lever for braking and shifting. These are quite old. I'd say around R3 500.
  12. On my Silverback it had a sticker when I bought it. I removed it once I got home. After the first free service they put one on again. I just removed it again. No big deal.
  13. I can attest to that. My sons' and my wife's bikes have slime in the tubes and this works incredibly well. I have Enduro Seal in my wife's bike even though is is not specifically specified for tubes it has been running like that without punctures for several months. My sons' bikes have the Sportsmans Warehouse slime specifically for tubes. Also been going for months. We ride trails every weekend.
  14. That will do the job. Not all that much that can go wrong there. Depending on the size and strength of your daughters hands she might struggle with the Shimano RevoShift but that you can sort out for a few hundred Rand if it is an issue.
  15. I currently run a straight steerer RockShox Reba Team with a Woodman headset and not a Lefty so I assume the top bearing assembly would essentially remain the same? This looks like the one - https://omnico.co.za/cannondale-pt-headset-int-h-shok-to-tape Looks to be the same thing as specified here - https://www.bicyclebuys.com/cannondale-reducer-headset-si-headshok-to-1.5-1-1-8-tapered-kp205/0905485
  16. New cables and sleeves for my derailleur and dropper post. Small but significant.
  17. It is clear from that table that the two Titan bikes are in a totally different league as the rest. The Rogue Sport yes. Seems like damn good value. The Silverback Stride, nope. That VAXA fork is made by Zoom. I have one...on a Silverback Stride...not great is an understatement. The other Stride is Suntour XCE28 - just a hair better than the VAXA. Crappy rear derailleur options as well. The only Scott on there that is almost worth looking at is the Aspect 950. Coil fork, Altus derailleur, 2x9. The Titan Rogue Sport blows it out of the water in all respects for the same price.
  18. It is a moot point. I have since upgraded my son's brakes to hydraulic brakes so you might be onto something. I did only have to buy a set of used hydraulic brakes to do this though and it only put me R500 out of pocket. Not an easy task if the bike started out with rim brakes.
  19. Might not seem like much but for some reason my bike did not want to go without it. Super chuffed that I will be able to ride again this weekend.
  20. I am going to have to disagree. If you intend on doing trails they don't do the job well for small (weak) hands.
  21. Don't you come here with your facts and sound reasoning...
  22. Yeah I got that and something about Lions.
  23. Yep, new nothing decent can be had for R2.5k let alone R1k. Get a 2nd hand Titan Calypso or Hades. I bought my son a 2nd hand Titan Hades 24D for R2 600. Basic front shock, disc brakes.
  24. This is now the 3rd time I have read Wade's message. Since nobody has asked the question I am going to go ahead and ask if I am the only person who cannot get the gist of his text? Heck I cannot even get half a gist (if there is such a thing).
  25. It it just me or was that Whatsapp conversation very nonchalant for R120k?
