  1. At the end of a nice ride in Jonkershoek I was heading out on the gravel road next to the dam, dreaming, when I noticed a darkish tube across the gravel road...kept on riding towars it until I noticed that the "tube" was moving. Braked hard, stones flew, heart pounding, the Cape Cobra did its thing it does when it is pissed off and eventually buggered off. I made a vow of only finishing a ride properly in the head when at home and paying attention all the way.
  2. Great event! Marking was shite, especially while it was still foggy. And, next time they should mark these two poles at the bridge! Sorry for the guy who crashed in there in the 70 k race. Stunning scenery out there and attractive course. Just these two long steep climbs were not to exciting ;-)
  3. Do trucks in ZA have to undergo a regular road worthy? Probably not, hey? Get trucks to do a road worthy every two years. The worst trucks will be sorted out this way.
  4. I'd strongly suggest they sell the bike for 44 k to that dude. he was just 2 seconds late :-)
  5. Luckily the wife is usually on speed dial!
  6. I'd like to use this opportunity to greet my friends Flemish Lion and Tankman!
  7. Sure, pansie roadie dude! Thanx though. Sadly I won't be around next week, so you need someone else who's hardcore enough to measure with you!
  8. Yeah, stupid thing to do but it felt GREAT afterwards (the warm shower, dry clothes, warm soup and blanket). Next time charge your battery and we can do some trails in Jonkers.
  9. So just you and me...in the dark forest! I'm leaving office now, pls gimme a call if something changes. Otherwise 17h30, I'll lube up before!
  10. I have a search function on the top right. Here's the link to that old thread: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/13403-speed-wobble/page__p__254874__hl__schimming__fromsearch__1#entry254874
  11. It's called Schimming when happening on Motorbikes. Ask Johan Boringman, he'll tell you waht to do. Or even better use the search function, there has been a long thread on that a while ago.
  12. I honestly don't! But it's not raining here at the moment! So, are you a wuzz and share a bed mit Marius or are we gonna get dirty?
  13. So, Tanker, you brought your bike?
  14. Well, assuming it doesn't rain we could go through Eden, Coetzenberg down to the hangbroeg and make our way to Jonkershoek. But that's just me, open to anything... Terrible weather now! (BTW I think you have a puncture on your car - saw a girl with a nail file walking away just now)
  15. Yeah, I always take you home and put you to bed nicely. Cool, night ride tomorrow then (perhaps a new route). Pizza afterwards?
  16. what's happening tomorrow eve? Rain or now rain!
  17. I found myself in a very simila situation like you. I'm a cm taller but the one or other kg lighter, however the Gobi was also not the best for me. Tried a variety of saddlye on my road bike and now have the SLR Gel Flow fixed on the MTB and road bike. It's much better. Still not perfect for me tho.
  18. True story?
  19. You want to save the braking surface? If that's your "problem" then you don't have a problem. Ride those damn wheels and save your money to relocate overseas.
  20. I can see clearly now the rain is gone, I can see all obstacles in on my trail ...
  21. Yeah, thanks guys. What a beautiful day today! But I gotta admit that I am a bit broken now. Luckily the ride back to Stellies was a quick and effortless ride. Until tomorrow morning then
  22. not only potentially, iRob will be there at 08h15 on the spot! Looking forward for the ride back to Stellies after our loop (obviously I'll have a headwind going back) Sien julle morĂª vroeg!
  23. Cool, let's see about the weather, I'd only be at the garage at 8:15. Would cycle through from Stellies and at 7h45 there's significantly more daylight then at 7h30.

    top shops??

William's Bike Shop in Somerset is one of the few bike shops in SA where the guy putting his hand on your bike really knows his **** and is passionate about it. Also he doesn't try to sell you **** and takes time for every customer. Epic Bike Shop in Ape Town is probably similar, haven't visited it often though.
