  1. If you want to keep it as realistic as possible, aswell as practice good ballance etc, get yourself a set of rollers. Tacx make some available on CRC. You have to concentrate throughout your workout, or you will be on your ass with a tire burn on the carpet. much more interesting than a fixed indoor trainer that bores you to death and hurts your bum. together with a good floor fan, and a good cycling video on the tele, and your set for a near as real workout in the comfort of your living room.
  2. I find it a pity though, if you want to purchase photos from several different events, then you need to pay a premium for the pics, and even if you take 10 photos from 10 different events and checkout once, the cost does not get discounted the same way it does if its 10 photos from 1 event. Their website model needs an adjustment to sort this out, as it remains too expensive otherwise.
  3. Well it oftens happens that the first seat you start off with, you get used to and changes after just dont feel right. For me the SDG TiFlyC and the SDG Formula FXR are super comfortable on road and MTB. currently trying the Specialised Romin on the road bike and Stella Italia on the mtb - jurys still out on this one...
  4. Connie from Outshoorn? jeez, also had issues with him a while back...
  5. ENTERED, LOOKING FORWARD TO IT.
  6. lol, you better train harder then!!
  7. Yup, make sure you have removed ALL oil grease etc from inside the seat tube and on the seatpost. use the Tacx Carbon Assembly Paste. creates the necessary friction to stop seatpost slippage, and reduces the ammount of torque needed to clamp, apparently by 30%. (stick to the manf clamp torque recommendations though for safety).
  8. are you bored? or just stirring controversy with each new post?
  9. Excellent event once again, Race was fun and fast. didnt notice food poisoning although now my stomach feels odd, much like 2009 when they had the amoebic dysentery. Route was great, I thought all the new bridges over the river crossings in day 2 (2nd half) were a pity and added nothing to the event. It almost felt as if there was too much intervention or manicuring of the route here. Ride through the water or 'wade and carry' like in the past was a great feature of day 2 and adventurous mountain biking. Nicely organised, everything seemed to work well in the race villiages. Gel packets and litter on route was bad. Nice to see the guys who did it for the first time are keen for more. Now you finally understand why we all keep going back year after year to support this event.
  10. XO is very nice, recommend it. like all high end racing components, spares do cost a lot (deraileur jockey wheels for example)
  11. pity. sad if this service was stopped because of petty theft. I thought it quite interesting that the combination lock on my bags in the boot had been fiddled with, the push buttons were not as i had left them.
  12. thanks. I have one too. All the guff abnout the rear shock - nonsense. Bike rides great, 3 lockout positions is fantastic, and easy to get used to. Bike rolls extremely well, is light and has excellent components for the price. Replaced the seatpost and handle bar with Ritchey WCS carbon - now it rocks. wheels could be lighter, but great value all the same.
  13. Is this to Join Germiston Wheelers? are the names highlighted in green on the log, current team members?
  14. Looking at all the DNF and the disclaimers above each results page, it seems that Spectrum Sport had major timing issues and data problems, rather than 40 riders taking a wrong turn...
  15. http://www.spectrumsport.co.za/Portals/17/ResultDoc/MTN_Mabalingwe_20120512.pdf
  16. thanks. it is unfortunate that 40 guys took wrong turns at the WP. The sharp end of the A bunch in the half marathon also went awry on the second half of the 43km ride, due to missed route markers. This included the current womens series leader. We had to back track to find the single track again, and re-overtake those that got the route right. Fair / unfair? thats mtb, Evans and George lost the Sani2C because of a day3 wrong turn. I am curious to see what a 'fair' resolution will be? At the end of the day there will be those that complain if rules are massaged, to be fair?
  17. usually rules state that the route taken is the riders responsibility. fiddling the results makes no sense if some took wrong turns. I wonder what Spectrumsport is dithering with, that this is taking so long.
  18. light and thin. carry plugs and bombs and boots.
  19. make sure your wheels can handle your body weight. heavier guys should not be on Crest rims... AM classic look good at 1.6kg, rider weight limit 107kg.
  20. long sustained hills, nothing for your granny gear. THE SAND, the sand. Awesome event, great weather, fast route, technical cornering, great fun, cold beer AND an icecream at the finish, I ENJOYED MYSELF!
  21. Scott is great. Comparing it to silverback is like comparing a BMW to a Hyundai/Kia. different level of machinery. (especially come resale time...)
  22. SW is like buying a bike/gear from Game or Makro. dont expect too much...
  23. Awesome, enjoy it to the max!
  24. Boyes drive bites...
  25. nope, at the end of the day its in the gearing. Remember it takes a little more effort to get the momentum going on the 29er... so if you are tired it feels like you are dragging something.
