  1. changed my Caad5 to a Sworks SL3, 58mm deep section wheels - huge difference in speed. very pleased!
  2. hahahaha, you were being ripped off for an extra R5. the rest of us were paying R10. Nothing like a little greed to bring in the new year, perhaps a nice drop in their revenue got them to reconsider. Pity that one of the last 'safe' road riding spots is being squeezed. Pretty soon everyone will be on mtb. Oh wait I forgot, Teak Place also closed down...
  3. Lance who?
  4. Yes, it is a great app, i use it all the time.
  5. me too
  6. set your spell check to "English" then...
  7. ..to the two mechanics from Dunkeld Cycles, at the corner of Homestead who helped change my tube when I punctured. The unfortunate episode just cost me 3 minutes - it felt like I was in a Ferrari Pitstop!. awesome. Race was great too.
  8. Still no news on her condition? was she totally alone at the track?
  9. yes, it happened as i crested the westbank hill. I got stung by a bee on the way down funny enough and there she was, fallen and unconscious. luckily she was breathing and lying on her stomach, so did not have to be moved and risk more injury. One chap called for an ambulance, crazy how hard it is to remember a number in an actual emergency. At least most of the riders coming down the hill, slowed down when asked to do so and passed safely, avoiding further problems. I hope she was ok, she was unconscious for a long time.
  10. Does anyone know the condition of the lady who fell at the base of the steep hill this evening? When I left the paramedics were still attending to her.
  11. a bit naff... I would stick to Jawbones or Rydons, both great sunnies...
  12. girls bike...
  13. if you are a weekend warrior, go for a dual susp. the added comfort makes a stage race much more enjoyable. 29ers, hardtails, better for single marathons imo.
  14. I have to agree with Edman here. Gears catching on a new road bike is possible as the cables bed into housings and all the small ferrules bed into the frame mounts. this would happen in the first few rides. this creates very slight slack in the cable, which may affect shifting. To the original ranter. for heavens sake do yourself a favour and demystify this whole bicycle issue for yourself. Get an elementary mechanics course from Johan at Yellow saddle and save yourself heaps of time and money and frustration. to fix this whole episode would have taken all of 45 seconds if you had educated yourself. My experiences with Cyclelab have been neither here nor there, their pricing doesnt suit me, but the club seems well run and organised.
  15. what nonsense
  16. I concur, having seen several Specialized Carbon frames in pieces at Sani2C, big money doesnt always buy you lasting quality, especially in mountain biking.
  17. Chubba, yes in my opinion. take a pill. "All three brands spells "w@nker" is pretty much over the top, IN MY OPINION.
  18. Well having used both Castelli and Assos I can comment as follows: The top of the range Castelli are very good, I use mine for over a year now. Very nice detailing with differing materials used. Down sides are the big round red decal wears off eventually and looks shabby, but great bib shorts - chamois insert is thin but hi-tech material heat absorbing material. I also have an entry level pair with their 'Kiss' chamois, not that great, but thats what you get for little money - fine to mess around on the mtb. The uno is one of the entry level Assos bib short, I have used the Uno and F1 Mille, and like them both. Chamois is nice and thick and comfortable, good for long periods in the saddle. The bib shorts fit extremely well and comfortably, no creep of the chamois or loose fabric as one gets with Atomic for instance. It is well designed. Minimal branding also makes assos stay neat and attractive longer. At the end of the day, both are good, I would say Assos are slightly more comfortable and good value. (Despite the snide comments above)
  19. yup, most of the Vets have been racing hard for many years, and have time and money to train and afford nice kit. It is a very strong group of racers. They usually race quite safely, there are not too many newbies who cause crashes, like you may find in the other groups. It takes lots of saddle time to start competing with them. by doing many races you will improve your seeding index, and get strong. If you are committed it wont be too long till you start jockying for top position.
  20. you need to be licenced and have a great seeding index. and be fit and ruthless, they dont mess around in the licenced bunches. and having a licence isnt a guarantee you will be riding in the VB,VC bunch in the major races either, you need to be in the top half, or you will be filtered down into A, B, C etc...

    ...

    stunning...
  22. lol, probably all that 32Gi - try something else. Endurashake to load before and pre race meal with pronutro, and perhaps Whasp or Gu drink / Gels. On long mtb rides I carry cooked baby potatoes for half way and 3/4 into the race. nothing works better than natural starch. keep it real.
  23. By even asking the question you sub-consciously know its wrong. Campy. Keep it real.
  24. You were lucky to get good service, my experiences at Cambridge Crossing were somewhat different. Hopefully things will improve.
