  2. Noted Flymango, I hope you have a great incident free Sani2C experience.
  3. Cheap seats haha. A nice expensive bike wash and inspection service (with the odd R15 cable thrown in should you need it) you have just purchased for yourself. much like car services you could either end up paying for many unnecessary must do repairs, or if they are really busy, perhaps the cursory eye run over your machine as the high pressure hose forces grit into your bearings may miss a vital issue that leaves you stranded out amongst the grasses and mambas. There are many advantages to looking after your machine personally, other than saving R335.00 a day on washes and inspections...
  4. at least this is indispensible. Heaven knows what might happen if I attempt such a thing myself... oh wait, I am doing it all myself...
  5. good luck, hope it turns out ok.
  6. you will get it at registration
  7. its not the top, its you who needs a bath
  8. haha, dont be fooled, the half marathon is tough enough, still good value for money. you just dont climb the monster though.
  9. always enjoyed the half marathon, going to give the full ride a go this year. climb the monster, thats what its all about. very dusty in the past, rocky, technical, and quite fresh at the start.
  10. tue, thurs morning, mabalingwe sat.
  11. Just take several cooked baby potatoes, sprinkled in salt and wrapped in foil. all the energy you will need.
  12. CLARENS mtn MTB races this weekend. enjoy suikers.
  13. dont lube the cable, this just helps dust etc stick to it and foul the housing. as for a cable snapping, this does happen. My partner suffered this occurrence on his rear deraileur at last years Sani - disaster as we had no spare.
  14. Do you have a bell... ?
  15. Perhaps just get married, pretty good coffee makers those...

Unless he won a prize, in the end the only one he predujiced was himself. I wouldnt worry about cheaters like this too much, they most likely wont return to this event whereas you will to enjoy it to the full.
  17. I thought the race was fairly taxing, but not too tough. Day 1 - too much tar riding, is this just to add distance and make the race seem more of a marathon? Portage points were annoying, and caused delays. would have been aweful at the back of the field I imagine. Rocky single track needed concentration, typical of magaliesberg/maropeng riding - loose, sharp. some good technical climbs. Day 2 - repeated much of day 1 but in the opposite direction, ho hum. rocky single track needed patience and care, saw several punctures. farm roads were gobbled up by the 29er. Route marking was not great. white arrows etc, should be replaced by the day glow orange stickers. Day 1 saw many riders taking wrong turns, or missing changes in the route, only to have to turn back. Braai on sunday was much better than saturday. Saturday braai had no salad and pap sauce at the beginning, sunday they ran out of rolls, so food management could definitely improve. No glasses and ice at the bar either to enjoy your soft drinks with. Prize giving too late too. Its a good 2 day training event. Comments on day 1 that it is on par with Sani2C, is quite a stretch. The KZN guys go to great lengths to 'build' a route, not just make use of existing footpaths etc. Will I be back, most likely.
  18. dont enter if you feel you are not getting value. simple.
  19. terrible
  20. thanks
  21. anyone know where the results are published? karkloof website and Mr Price Heroes still have not been updated?
  22. I used a set for several years (unbranded equinox). good wheels, carbon braking surface finally wore out, so change the rear hub and use them for track riding now. good value
  23. yup, Dangle has been very helpful with odds n ends I have needed. Not to mention my SL3 - it RIPS!
  24. um, each race nets you up to 5000 Discovery Vitality points via SA Active, no need to panic about gathering little bits here and there...
  25. i have used both Polar and Garmin. Both are good units and both have lots of issues (freezing up, loss of h/r readings, battery life etc etc). Polar h/r strap, despite washing regularily, does oxidise and the contact on the little connector studs can be intermittent. Garmin rubber h/r strap is better. garmin has great training programability on the PC, Polar has this too, but not as good. Polar needs a seperate GPS unit, garmin is built in. Polar pc software is slightly better, but not an issue if you prefer Strava or Endomondo. My garmins battery life is limited (305) but with the newer models this is much improved. Garmin can display more info on a ride. Polar has better warrenty service - can take time as they do get busy - clue here? I only use Garmin now, slightly less issues than the Polar.
