  2. Hey Guys, Gavin our new routemaster is back from Clarens with ROUTES & PROFILES. I'm about to finish the booklet and will then upload the profiles and routes to our website. Distance changes: 43km -> 48km (one of the new single track sections (8km) won't be in for 2014, due to a massive donga that's too wet & wide to include this year ) 70km -> 75km (We aimed to have it about 75km, at the stage of going live with the event it was a 70km. We had to add some gravel to go around a area due to land access.) - New section of 3km singletrack towards the finish! Ultra remains at 120km (we have decided to exclude the second climb up to the Caravan in the ultra to keep it at 120km. But trust me plenty of hard climbs and awesome scenery! The new climb to KOM / QOM at 25km in the marathon / ultra is going to be sick! Here are some teasers of the marathon route: http://www.advendurance.com/documents/thehubsa/2014clarens/IMG-20140408-WA0003.jpghttp://www.advendurance.com/documents/thehubsa/2014clarens/IMG-20140410-WA0002.jpghttp://www.advendurance.com/documents/thehubsa/2014clarens/IMG-20140410-WA0003.jpghttp://www.advendurance.com/documents/thehubsa/2014clarens/IMG-20140410-WA0005.jpghttp://www.advendurance.com/documents/thehubsa/2014clarens/IMG-20140414-WA0001.jpghttp://www.advendurance.com/documents/thehubsa/2014clarens/IMG-20140414-WA0002.jpghttp://www.advendurance.com/documents/thehubsa/2014clarens/IMG-20140415-WA0006.jpghttp://www.advendurance.com/documents/thehubsa/2014clarens/IMG-20140415-WA0007.jpg
  3. Hey guys... it's not new on the calendar... the dates have been out since end of last year for the series. I know it's disappointing as you would love to do both events! We didn't choose to be on the same weekend as monster, it's the card we were dealt when it comes with the CSA calendar etc. We have already submitted our calendar for 2015...!

  9. Hi Johan, We have preliminary routes, we are going down end of the month to build trails, we are doing about 15km of trails in total to be built. I don't want to make the routes public until we have started but as soon as we have and reassessed we will commit to the planned route. The 43km is a bit easier than Sabie, except than the train in some cases are harder, so less climbing than Sabie but more rocky steeper climbs. If you are fit and can race a 70km then it just depends how capable you are on the technical side the 70km this year will be much harder than 2013.
  10. Hi Diane, What do you mean by "PH" ? Thanks!
  11. Guys, I spoke to SAseeding yesterday about the index. The index was incorrectly loaded. They have a new guy working there and he didn't know that the National MTB Series gets loaded as a A event. So the index is now as it should be. Apologies, thanks for bringing it to my attention.
  12. The route last year played out differently as was originally planned. This lead to us having to send the guys over back the way the ultras riders go. Sorry but that route was way to hard for the average 43km rider. There are some great pieces in the new 43km route similar to 2012 if you rode that year. If you want to ride that specific piece it's in the 73km and will be extended by 3km....
  13. Thanks! I'll get the entries company to update this.
  14. Marathon starts at 07h45. - Where does it say 08h40?
  15. Results have been updated with personal details removed.
  16. Secure him a gmail account now... he'll thank you in the future
  17. Timing: The start time on the sms system was set a hour later than it should of been hence the 1hr difference. They only noticed it once the sms had gone out. They apologize for that and corrected the results asap. Route marking: We use two boards for indicating turns out of a road. This is pretty standard on the bigger roads at all our events. One board is placed 30m before the turn on the opposite side and one board at the turn next to the road on the side you are turning too. We can't place bunting there as vehicles need to be able to move in and out and it's worse if a bunting then possibly gets broken. There were two batches ahead of A men who rode correctly through this point with no problem. Batch A from 8th place followed a guy in front who missed this turn: See pic.http://www.advendurance.com/images/forums/tulbaghboard.JPG
  18. Please mail me so we can sort this out for you. So I can get to the bottom of this please thanks. Unfortunately this was the one weekend I wasn't at the event. wessel(at)advendurance.com
  19. Thanks. That's a error on the timing side! have just requested them to remove it! - Thought it was just my copy i received!

  23. Press-Release: PRESS RELEASE: For immediate release – no embargo DATE: 12-03-2014 South Africa's longest running duathlon series is getting a makeover from outdoor and adventure event specialists Advendurance. The immensely popular SA Duathlon Series sponsored by DSM and Momentum Health will be relaunched as the Momentum Health OatWell Dual Cross Series, powered by PeptoPro, and will combine the best of both mountain biking and trail running worlds. The biggest changes are that in 2014, all 4 events will be off-road, and located within an hour's drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria. Known for their expert management of events ranging from the world's largest marathon mountain biking series to South Africa's largest obstacle course race, Advendurance's involvement bodes well for the growth of the Momentum Health OatWell Dual Cross Series. According to Fritz Pienaar from Advendurance, the logic is to establish the series in Gauteng before expanding to other provinces. "The event will have various categories and disciplines to cater for the whole family,” said Pienaar. “We will also provide child minding facilities, so parents can focus on enjoying the world-class trails we have prepared for them.” The first event will take place on 26 July and entries will open on the 1st of April, with only 1500 entries available. The first 1000 entrants will receive a high quality Columbia shirt for free. Over the years, DSM have linked various of their products to the event, including iFlex, MEG3 and PeptoPro. “I have great confidence in Advendurance and they have selected awesome new venues that will certainly put a smile on every participant’s face. I would advise people to get their entries in early as these four events will most likely be sold out quickly”, says Damian McHugh from Momentum Health.
