  1. 1 degree, not even below freezing?! you could have said minus eight and got away with it. just make sure you got all the moisture out your cable guides when you go out in these conditions.
  2. i'm no photo fundi, but i think pics taken in better light she might even look better. it just looks faaaaaaaaaaaast
  3. except that according to the current schedule its not on LIVE on SuperSport......someone somewhere needs to sort that out soonest
  4. any tips for flying tubeless converted tyres? I flew recently and let some air out (probably down to 2.5 bar), and then put duct tape over the valves so they wouldn't be undone by an ACSA chronie. overkill?
  5. ride by wire? its awesome that they actually bringing it to the market, I thought that still using test models at Le Tour was quite ambitious. of course i won't touch it until all the teething problems are sorted, but I think precise shifting will be the big gain if they are using sensors. on the chain/cassette. and when they bring out the 'voice activated model......' Swissvan, if you really think a 7.4V rechargeable lithium battery is bad for world pollution you'll get on well with the hippies who live on my street.shebeen2008-08-04 02:18:28
  6. seeding, i think that is something that farmers do to make their mielies grow out the ground. i thought we had a bit of a seeding series going here with Argus MTB, STB, Knysna and Lourensford all involved. last year as a ppa member i did them all, started everyone in the second group and came in the top 20% of my group in all of them. in STB I came 5/125 in the AB group. So i'm once again in the second group. maybe that cyclosport licence isn't such a bad idea afterall! anyway not too bothered really, more girls at the back
  7. JB, i kinda disagree. OP asked if it was worth getting a more expensive bike or just upgrading certain parts. Potent has the identical bike and offered advice on things he upgraded and how they affected his bike (in his opinion). Drowning whales and flying pigs aside, he gave options on racier tyres - and it's obvious they were his opinion. I would rate that as good advice, as a mid range bike like the Alpine could probably do with better tyres. i'm wily enough not to debate this (and tyres for climbing) further, as i know i won't beat you.
  8. dude how many bikes are you planning on riding? try keep it all original, except for the tyres. i used to borrow a 70's peugeout for the Argus - loverly bike. Will try get hold of it again and then we can start a peugeot bike gang
  9. Are there any pro's who refuse to use the teams sponsored pedals?i can imagine some guys want to stick to their favourite brand. i see our olympic swimmers can way whichever cossie they want now. it was an issue because swimming sa is sponsored by arena, but speedo suits are appreciably quicker right now. SASCOC stopped acting like sascock and saw the light.
  10. i'm actually riding to work more often now
  11. they race the day after the tour finishes?? that's just silly. good to see the Lantern rouge in the top 10
  12. I take it you turned around at the top of Red Hill? If you went down the other side, at the three way stop is The Cape Farmhouse - they make awesome deserts. well worth it. bit funny doing an out and back with all the other routes, but you clearly hill hunting - another tweak is to go through Da Gama Park. start/finish is Southern right hotel in glencairn and scratch patch
  13. depends, what you looking for? I got some Code 8 and articulated Truck going cheap cheep
  14. CS both manufacture here and in china....all designed and tested here. I have my brilliant Vantage jacket right here in front of me and the label says just that. >hijack off> back to rally bashing boys
  15. i really don't think it's a china thing. as well all know most of our bikes come from there, and its not like anyone has a go at CapeStorm for manufacturing there
  16. as much as one of my favourite sports is Rally bashing, even i admit it is normally misguided and childish. (maybe i've matured, but most likely its Cheris?'s fault) It's hard to be proud of a brand that also has utter cr@p going for R500 at the hyperama. Until they do a Lexus/Toyota and split their ranges into different brands this'll never end. Who cares if Rally one the tour in 1980, I think it holds little prestige as a name. No amount of R&D or even design awards will fix it, it's a marketing problem.
  17. Sean, I have to agree with you. Devils advocate is a tough role indeed, especially when you're supporting a hack. But how does one do fully research topics when you have to juggle tee-off times, boozy lunches and fashion launches? I'm kidding, case closed. lets go watch some live feed.
  18. I think Albert should take those 'ode to Ricco and his Scott' entries off.
  19. well its horses for courses, as we're all different. I think the most important thing is not to try something new. I used two pairs of first Ascent Endurance bibs for the 19 days of the freedom challenge. and those are 13hours average riding days too. picked up a slight rash on the first day (where it rained like the almighty had ordered it), and fine grit had worked its way through to the skin from all the sitting on a muddy saddle. but it never got worse, put Mark II shammy cream on the shorts each morning. they go for about R500 a pop, but i picked them up for R60 each at their december sale - bargain of the century....... two thumbs up, and not even their top of the range
