  1. Yeah, if I had to guess, you'll go around the dam there, but that'll be well marked
  2. A potential warning, don't follow this blindly. There's a weird out and back as you get onto the road after McGregor (probably a routing artifact?). You really don't want to turn left, only to be told to u-turn 50m later (especially if you're off the front of your group like @Jbr might well be)
  3. Oh, and it goes higher up the climb 🤣
  4. Blue (119km) is 2023, Red (115km) is 2024 Farm vibes: Skipping the nature reserve: And slightly different past the town:
  5. Yup, the linked article says that almost word for word
  6. For anyone, Energy (joules) = power (watts) x time (seconds) To get kcal Energy (kcal) = Power (watts) * Time (hours) * 3.6 So, if your zone 2 is 200W, then every hour is 200 x1x3.6=720kcal To convert to grams of carbs, divide by 4=180g (which you're unlikely to eat but gives you an idea) Happy to have my math proven wrong Sources: https://www.welovecycling.com/wide/2020/05/14/how-to-convert-watts-into-calories-burned-on-the-bike/ https://www.omnicalculator.com/conversion/grams-to-calories
  7. Not sure what size you're looking for, but this appears to be a very good deal (upgraded groupset & powermeter) https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/gravel-bikes/721961/rook-scout-xl-grx11spd-pwrmtr
  8. Watch this, the section in question is from about 1:30
  9. I posted about this in the Cape Town Danger Areas topic, and the responses quickly degenerated into "this is blatent electioneering", so I gave up trying to reason. In my view, there's no harm in going to the site, filling out the form saying "I support this" and hoping that maybe in 2 years time you won't have to dodge trucks on every road ride. The other areas being proposed: Pinelands Robert Sobukwe Salt River, Obs, Woodstock Northern areas
  10. depends how cold it is?
  11. Search rook on the forum here, there are plenty of posts. I've had one, it's a solid bike, with a few quirks: - 650B wheels, which can make sourcing tyres harder - Non-standard seatpost (25mm) which makes finding a replacement impossible - Ltwoo groupset, which you either like or you don't I put a lot of miles into mine, including 100 miles at Around the Pot and a CTCT.
  12. MyWhoosh is fine until it isn't. And when it cr*ps the bed in the middle of a structured workout because you (a) adjusted the difficulty or (b) skipped a workout block, then you lose patience very quickly. It's happened more than once to me.
  13. I reckon the bit through the Vrolikheid nature reserve, and the bits that skirt McGregor before heading back to Lords, would be hella sketch on anything less than 36.
  14. Yup, something like this should work https://www.takealot.com/forza-light-mount-gopro-attachment/PLID73050828
  15. I use the forza out front mount, which lets me mount the light underneath should work for any round light (i use a Ryder concept 700) https://www.takealot.com/forza-garmin-computer-customizable-stem-mount-garmin/PLID71711795
  16. That was a masterclass in how not to manage a stage by Ineos. Pace all day on the front to “protect pink”, meaning UAE get a free ride to the bottom of the climb before the inevitable Pog-bomb and they lost pink by minutes.
  17. I see there 4 "request for comment" proposals to do with NMT (non motorised transport) infrastructure on the CoCT website. https://www.capetown.gov.za/City-Connect/have-your-say/issues-open-for-public-comment?L1=Issues open for public comment Pinelands Robert Sobukwe Salt River, Obs, Woodstock Northern areas Lots of plans available, as well as the ability for the public to add their support. As a cyclist in Cape Town, living in one of the above, and riding through many of the above, this would be a big win. Example of the Pinelands proposal:
  18. I'll also note this from the EntryNinja page:
  19. With a course that undulating (there's actually no real big climbs) the garmin elevation data is a bit hit and miss. Compare these 2 courses, same route, completely different elevations: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/255618182 https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/161577900
  20. Matt 3rd and Hayley 9th at Sea Otter. Solid starts to their US campaigns
  21. Out of interest, how are you attaching the front fork cages, given there's only one bolt?
  22. It's a constant gripe of ours whenever we ride out on that path before sunrise. I've shouted at more than a few cyclists and runners, it's just plain stupid in my opinion.
  23. On topic https://www.instagram.com/reel/C5gJHYjrVeq/
  24. You're probably right. I've just gotten so used to 6mm and below that'd I actually forgotten that even Pegasus are 10mm drop.
