    Got this advice pre : Freedom Challenge. 18 to 20 days of riding al least 12 hours a day the weight mighth make a difference. Quite a few Freedom riders suffer from this. Head torch is must at Freedom as need it to read maps and narratives while moving. Saying that I did plenty of core and neck/scap strenghtening work pre Freedom. The other thing is to train all LSD rides with the head torch.

    It’s sounds ridiculous but always remove your head torch batteries during the day, and put them back in when you need them, the weight of the batteries can cause this especially if have not trained using a head torch. before the ride go to a biokineticist for exercises to specifically strengthen scaps and neck muscles will also help.

    Absolutely - previous generation Epic Evo's all had Fox 120's SC

    Ditto, Fox 34 120mm on the front changes the ride substantially, much plusher and more comfortable on rocky or rutted terrain, more control when descending rocky rutted tracks. BUT if you like going fast and climbing a bit better stick with the brain but be prepared to sacrifice a bit of comfort ! Horses for courses !

    Work on 4 to 5 hours for the first three days (4o to 50 km) be prepared for walking on the beach and portaging up hills at the end of some bays . 3 or 4 mother hills to hike a bike / push. So do a bit of running /walking training. Suggest use hike a bike shoes (flexible with tread) not carbon soled stiff MTB shoes. Scott make a reasonable cheap pair. Last day is proper , much tougher, about 70km with a lot of district road climbs going inland, not as much beach riding. Are places to refill but quite a few guys use small camelbak. Best event ever. And fast rolling wider tyres help with beach sand , run lower pressure than normal.

    He was bust for steroids so got the benefit of becoming stronger which you could argue is still benefitting him now ! A doper is a doper period ! WTF is rehab from steroid abuse ! Should have got life ban

    A batch start is only at 8 according to final instructions so it wont be that cold - there goes my massage at 13.00, normally start in B or C but got F this year so I guess I just waste R440 !

    not sure how they did the seeding ? Never started later than C ever (8 sani2c completed) and finished in at least top 150 teams every year yet we get G batch ?
