I heard the tandem riders at Lost City say that they were the only ladies tandem on the day. Normally the organisers want a minimum of 5 tandems in a category to compete to contend for prize money. You can't hold these girls ransom because other ladies tandem don't want to enter' date=' but ladies tandem racing is only starting to grow now. I am sure organisers are trying their best to cover all angles.[/quote'] There was actually no prize money for any of the tandems, Mixed or Male, but there was Trophy's for Mixed and Male whereas the was a trophy for Ladies Tandem last year, and none this year, so it's not a question even of minimum 5 Ladies Tandems entered, it wouldn't have made a difference if there was 100 Ladies Tandems, there would still have been no recognition or trophy for Ladies Tandems My two cents worth: I ride miXED tandem , and until recently , there was hardly any recognition for mixed tandems, this has now been brought to book and mixed tandem are know recognised, I know on various occasions where we finished in top three mixed tandem and not even mentioned. winners of mixed not mentioned???? nope. So the more we call for these things to happen and bring it to the attention of organisors etc, the better. As in all sports the "fairer" sex seems to get the short end, So to the Ladies Tandem (BEEE and Chili Pepper) We congratulate you and lets fight for their recognition and justice

Just a bit of useless information: the recomended body fat % in around 6.5-7% for males and slightly higer for the Fems, however top athletes have been known to got well below this (Note not a healthy thing), this does not necesarily mean you will lose performance over the short term, but to keep at that body fat of below 6% for a longer period will cause performance loss and health problems, these concerns can lead to hospitalisation and even coma. (Previous exepriences have taught me this) when Lance was below 5% , he was only in that "ZONE" for a short period ie not the whole tour. He would start the tour above 7% and after the tour would most certainly be back above 7%
