I will remeber him as a no nonsence straight talker who was willing to put his money where his mouth was when co-sponsoring a few teams I rode with in the early days. A man who had a reputation of being tough on and off the bike , a legacy that will make him an idol, ... very few in SA cycling history.

This old dog will continue to chase trucks . . . and catch them . . When I get older it will be the milk float.

Just moved to the UK and the weather is typicayl miserable. The road calander is dead , but the cyclocross events seem to be the way to go. Looking at cyclocross bikes. . . what a wierd species of bike. Did you see anything you liked

Not to sure, you kind of lose count when Alex and the Konica youngster(sorry name?) lap you for the third time. Thought I had 10th in the bag. I'm battling to keep that back wheel on the tar as well, and I'm gradualy filing my 172 cranks down to 171.8 on each corner.

For a Crit in a car park, I'm enjoying the cource. It's technical with a slight climb that drops the speed and then the corners wich are taking some time to master. But it is this bottom corner (the one that smells like burn't brake blocks) that I think most are battling to master. I just can't find the apex or correct line into it , and have had to "chicken out" a few times (5/31 laps) . . I'm going into this corner at an average of 45km/h The Thug: My average speed for the cource is 33.6Km/h with the two neutral laps (probably about 35Km/h racing). Would love to know what the winning average was.

mmmm . . . . didn't realise brussels sprouts grew on miniture trees. Always thought they came with woolworths packaging. The only vegtable(is it?) to be grown for one day of the year; 25th Dec (that and a turkey(not a vegtable))

Since 7am this morning I've received 7 8 9 SMS notifications that the MTN Zoo Lake Criteruim is on the 31 Aug. Please can someone tell them I've already entered !!!!!!! SMS marketing is a great tool, but there is a fine line between being informative and a damm nuisance. How many times have you been sms'd??

The cardboard box it would have come in, probably weights more. Looks incredible Zas. Will definately be taking you up on that offer . . . but your going to have to put more padding on that seat. As a skinny rider I dont have that much "build in" padding between me and that "clothes iron" you call a saddle!!!

Well I'll get the poll started by scoring myself 3 points for three seperate moments on last nights panorama tour highlights package (blink and you would have missed them). Another 10 for a speaking roll (but I'll minus five because the interview was on the bike up Long Tom's pass and I was so bombed you can't understand a word!)

A cardiologist died and was given an elaborate funeral. A huge heart, covered in flowers, stood behind the casket during the service. I stand corrected. But by UCI regulations , this is not a bike. It's missing it's second tri angle on the frame and thus not legal.

Not my C Chip 1Hill, But thanks. I got boxed out in the last twenty meters in the sprint (into the finish shoot) and had to dive between the cones to avoid the barrier legs onto the wrong side of the road. I ended up having to unhook my C chip and hand it across the barriers to the CSA officials to swipe across the mat. (I did get it back).

Afraid I'm not as "photogenic" as you guys , I look as if I've been dragged behind the peleton for 90 odd K's , whereas you guys still look fresh and ready for your second lap. Afraid I got relegated to 17th position for not crossing the finishline on the correct side of the barriers, . . . luckily I was still in an upright position when doing so and the only casulaty was an orange cone!! But good fun anyway.
