  4. I work next to the Centurion Mall, so will come past Unitas Hospital down Botha Ave to the fountains and then have to go around the monument. I think the R21 is a bit of a longer way around or what?
  5. I want to start cycling to work, from Pretoria North to Centurion, but don't really want to go through the interchange by the fountains and the fountain circle by the R21 as it is rather dangerous to change lanes in peak hour traffic. My only other choice is to go past the monument everytime. Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what route I can take?
  6. my uncle has an old farm gate. he said he will give it to you for free
  7. Mine is made in USA
  8. R9,66/L for 95UL and R9,51/L for 93UL in GP. Diesel is not a regulated price and garages can charge whatever they want. Government only puts a maximum RRP on the diesel price
  9. Do you have internal or external bearings? If you have a sealed BB then it could be the Aluminium housing of the BB chafing against the aluminium cups. I usually take the cups off the BB, clean it up good, grease the inside if the cups and reassemble.
  10. On the way home tonight I stopped at the BP garage in Pretoria North to fill my tank. I pulled in at the 95UL pump and told the petrol jockey to fill the tank. Halfway through filling the tank I noticed that the price was showing R10,40/L and not R9,66/L I went over the garage manger and pointed this out to her. She first tried to tell me that it is supposed to be R9,73/L. Then I showed her my logbook where I had paid R9,66 at another garage last week. Long story short...She corrected the amount due, otherwise I would have paid almost R40 too much!!!! I wonder how many motorists were ripped off before the mistake was noticed? Keeping a logbook helps keep an eye on these shady garage owners, especially the ones who put up their price the day before a price increase takes place.
  11. Will the Fizzik Arione be lighter than the Selle italia/ I'm looking for something lighter but at the same time want something that will fit better between my legs. What is the RRP for the Fizzik Arione?
  12. What saddle would you sugget for a skinny ass I'm not all that well built and don't have much padding of my own on my butt. I have a Sella Italia SLR gelflow, but can't seem to sit comfortably on it and have to keep moving around on the saddle. It is not the hardness of the saddle that bothers me, it's more the shape and fit.
  13. Another problem is the school kids that want everything their eyes see. But when it comes down to the cunch then they first have to ask for daddy's permission to buy or sell!!! Speed Devil2008-09-11 06:46:06
  14. Well done man! 151 is normally what I'm at by the time I'm clipped into my pedals Oh' date=' I don't want to alarm you or anything, but someone stole your electric fencing, as well as the top 2 meters of your wall. [/quote'] That was in expectetion of getting lucky
  15. How long does it take for that bike to get up to speed with those wheels on? I wonder how long it will take to get from 0-100km/h
  16. It won't be long before the Raleigh bashers get here. They smell a Raliegh thread from a mile away
  17. My wife looked like a much better proposition at 05:00 this morning
  18. If this bike is a pic of the bike to be released then it looks like it comes with the new DA7900 grupo with under-tape gear cable routing. I reckon this bike will go for about 40k
  19. About 80% op force applied to tighten a bolt/nut is used to overcome friction caused by the object being tightend i.e. the bolt head on the washer, the shank of the bolt against the wall of the object being tightened (no bolt ever sits exactly in the middle of the hole) and the threads on each other. So all torque readings will be a ballpark figure and will vary depending on whether a lubricant was used or not. Therefore an unlubricated bolt/nut will reach it's torque setting quicker due to more friction. Christie a person can use a torque wrench for 10 years and and then oneday tighten a bolt with a normal spanner and never get the torque correct as a person cannot gauge torque correctly due to the friction element. Tightening by hand is a matter of common sense and a bit of experience. A torque wrench won't teach you either of those. I recently had an experience at a bike shop where they broke the head of a crankbolt off due to overtightening, but won't go into detail now until the matter has been resolved (or the lack thereof). As far as I'm concerned anything under 20Nm does not need a torque wrench. It is a marketing gimmick and someone is making money from it. If a person is so technically challenged that they cant tighten a bolt/nut without stripping it then they should rather take their bike to their LBS and get their mechanic to do it....Oh wait I done that and they broke my bolt!!Speed Devil2008-09-06 12:04:56
  20. Just from my side, a big thanks to Samma, Shaunh, Pocketbikes, Cruzer and the Merc team, all the marshalls and everyone else involved. Without all your hard work and dedication this ride would not have been possible. It went off like a well oiled machine...Except the wheels didn't roll at 07:00 (It was damn cold waiting around for 10 minutes) To all the cyclists that took part thanks for being so well behaved and good mannered. I think a few motorists out there have changed their attitude towards us. Sorry I was so unfit. I will train for the next HUBride so that you don't have to ride so slow for me.
  21. Ok, got my other wife all cleaned up and shiny for the ride tomorrow. Can't wait to see everyone.
  22. Talking about having your cake and eating it...This way he can enjoy both pastimes at the same time!
  23. Depending how much you train and how long the unit was energised before being sold, a battery should last about two years. When you buy the unit there is supposed to be a piece of plastic between the battery and contacts which you pull out after purchasing it, but sometimes the people pull it out so they can play around with it. But 4 months is a bit short. It sounds like you could have a problem with the unit.Speed Devil2008-08-30 07:14:23
