  1. I race olympic distance and yes, it's more complicated than just going as hard as you can on the bike
  2. Me too, works very well. I use blackburn slick cages, never had a bottle pop out on my road or mtb. (Obviously no tri-bars on my mtb)
  3. I heard of a guy that had a double knee replacement and suffered lots of pain afterwards. He lived in Cape Town and decided to go and swim in the sea to check if it didn't help (since nothing else did). He reckoned that the pain got better with every swim...
  4. Chances are slim, water there is always nice...
  5. I applied the TI principles from what I saw on youtube and I improved quite a bit. It works.
  6. +1 on the Adamo. Got the "Road" and can't see myself riding in TT position on anything else than an Adamo.
  7. Good service, great prices, legit merchandise.
  8. Roadbike insured - comprehensive, MTB is "cheap" so taking my chances.
  9. Yes, wetsuit will be allowed regardless of the water temp. Heard it directly from the main organizer.
  10. So who is doing the Buffelspoort Ultra this weekend? I've been praying for the rain to stop the entire week and it seems the conditions will be good for racing...
  11. Hi Faceplant, That route runs across a couple of farms, so you are not allowed to ride it without permission from the owners in question. There was a requirement from owners that cyclists specifically don't just ride on their property. Huge pain, hey?
  12. Your stuff should be reasonably safe in the transition area. Remember sunblock, I apply before the swim and then again in T2 (before you go on the run again). Robrider basically covered everything you must have, remember less is more, BUT take your bike tool, bombs, spares (tube, valves, patch), etc, you don't want to be stranded. Rather be there a bit earlier and be relaxed at the start. This is your 1st tri, don't be to stressed/pressured, try and enjoy all of it.
  13. Hi and welcome, 1. Best to phone them or email them. 2. You can use your MTB in any sprint or Olympic distance Tri. To be sure you can ask the organizers beforehand, but MTBs are normally allowed.
  14. I'm in, hopefully we can get some dry weather for a couple of days before Sunday...
  15. Fine line between awesomeness and weirdness
  16. 1st 10 k's on the bike almost broke me
  17. Thanks davem.
  18. Can't speak for the Prestige, but Buffelspoort is a proper test. It's hot and hilly (both on the bike and run). Atmosphere and aid stations are OK.
