Sometimes you get lucky, it seems it was my turn this past month...asked my niece in Benoni to be on the lookout for block planes of any description (I collect them and any other type of piano and violin planes) She phoned me about a month ago whilst trawling the antique shops around Benoni and surrounds with a "would this be what you looking for?" Sent me few pics of the planes and price and done deal! Stanley #130 - combination Block plane with bull nose plane in excellent condition Stanley #174 - piano plane in same condition (this is a Stanley Sweetheart edition) Bill = R180.00

  14. V12 is spot on...it's also lighter and easier to handle over long periods and much more cost effective. You should go the rental route on the orbital sander, something with variable speed is always a winner.

  20. Interesting, along the coast here it has to be kiln dried CCA, so don't have the moisture problem. But yes, you need to finely select your stock
  21. Dear Pethubbers, I'm in search of two Irish Terrier puppies, either from the same or diffirent litters, to act as companions to my two sons aged nearly seven and 10. If you know of a nice family or breeder, please pm me. Thanks Ed
  22. I'm with you on this one...all pallet wood is cut from either A grade or sub A grade. And if you understand pine timber grading in this country, that means it sawn from s h i t! Often times also sawn from juvinile pine. Like isetech has shown, you can turn it into really nice functional furniture, i just think it's a fad like fat bikes (see what I did there, so bad ).
  23. May I ask why pallets? Do you have a bunch that you have access to? Truss pine is also very cost effective 38 x 114 x 3.0m only cost R69 with CCA treatment at the coast
  24. One of those "what a brilliant idea" that will work twice and give you s h i t forever after
