  1. Ping Pants Boy, he has a contact
  2. I like that, not good for testicle preservation and all, but love the rudimentary technology to charge the batteries.
  3. To Kevin, Barry's sons and ex wife, to his numerous friends in real life, my heartfelt and sincere condolences. We have lost a friend, a real personality and a man who loved animals like no one I ever knew. Such a very sad moment which words cannot describe! Rest in Peace Barry!
  4. Thanks for the thoughts and encouragement guys! I'm entering my first marathon
  5. Keep fighting Barry! We all understand how sick you are and how damaged your body is, but keep on fighting so you can see the sunrise again with your furry friends in tow! C'mon Barry, don't give up brother!
  6. Encouraging reading the race and training reports from all. Ran my first training distance 25km this weekend in a hilly part of Zululand. Felt comfortable after 3 hours on the road over the hills and along the flats. I'm confident that my first 21km race at end March will be successful and at which time I will aim for a sedate 2:15. Now a question for you more experienced runners; Would it be foolish to attempt a 42km, specifically the Deloitte Marathon between Balito and Durban on 7 May? Current training miles are on 280km, by then 3 x 21km distances would be completed and from what I have read it is termed as an easy run (we all know that running is never really easy?) Thanks you in advance for any feedback
  7. Healing vibes from Zululand Barry, keep up the fight!
  8. Believe it or not, been around for many years. Quite popular in the East and I believe also known in Holland a "blaashondje". Apparently it has it's practical applications in congested traffic...no word of lie
  9. Sun is rising on a new day Barry, healing vibes from the coast, where the waves crash and the air smell fresh this morning. Keep on fighting and healing!
  10. Healing vibes to a friend I have never met, keep getting better Barry!
  11. Howdy gents and ladies, I have trouble chewing and running at the same time, I need my mouth to breathe, however, if the food I take in is fairly liquid, no problem. I also have a deep rooted dislike of USN and Goo sachets and even if I stow them in my water belt pocket, they always leach and I end up with sticky hands. I was hoping we could come up with a reusable, not too bulky suggestion for race fuel in volumes less than a water bottle. I obviously need this only for my training runs, which I conduct mostly alone. I'm doing a 25km training run the weekend, so will need at least the volume equivalent of 3 Goo's. Thanks for your input!
  12. Hi Alan, easy fix: Go buy some 6mm dowel rod, look for saligna, it should have a similar colour than the wood in your picture. By a 6mm wood bit. Step 1: Clean the joint and re-glue. Step 2: Clamp square on, make sure its a nice joint through clamping Step3: When the glue has cured, clamps off Step4: Drill a 6mm hole into the joint Take dowel rod, dip in glue, insert in the hole, cut to size and viola! Joint should hold a long time.
  13. Keep fighting Barry! Thinking of you every day!
  14. Healing vibes from Zululand Barry. Keep fighting!
  15. K - Keep T - Throwing M - Money
  16. A new day... Hang in there Barry, fight hard! You are in everyone's thoughts! Healing vibes to you!
  17. Shall do so when I'm home tonight...way too much to do today
  18. Unless the ship is full astern! Therefore the use of steaming lights on the fo'c's'le and bridge is needed to make an accurate assessment of travel
  19. Yes, in simple terms, however, in nautical terms the use of left and right will only get you in trouble and it is thus taught as quoted above. PS: Ships were there well before airies
  20. I must correct you dear fellow; port side is the side of a ship where the red light burns, it is a fixed point like the bow, stern and starboard side (where the green light burns) and should never be confused with left and right. Example, when standing on the ships bow with your right shoulder facing to the ships stern, where is left and right now? Apologies for being pedantic on a Monday
  21. Hey Barry, healing vibes to you! Terrible news, hope someone is looking after his pack! He'll be further devastated if the dogs suffer.
  22. Like they say..."men and ships, rot in port"!
  23. I seriously love and hate these type of designs, let me explain. The material used is not durable enough (that would last no more than 5 years in exposed areas and probably the same time if not), unless you treat it and that will add more cost even if you use marine grade plywood. Now that will set you back big time, even in EU/US. For a lot less effort a simple A-frame solution would be 100 times more practical, 1000times cheaper and not to mention durable. Simple PVC gutters can do the same trick. You won't need a ladder to tend the garden and water use can be cut down significantly. As a matter of interest, a family of 4 can be fed all their nutritional needs on a piece of land the size of a standard door, making use of trellis and frame work no higher than 1.6m. I love the design though, very modern, very hip and all that, but is it really a solution? I don't think so.
  24. Pants, ek smaak chilli woes! How much for the sous and can you mail?
