  1. Stuff I knew, but didn't really do: Get a decent chain checker (e.g. Parktool cc-4) or accurate ruler and keep an eye on your chain wear and replace the chain before it's too far gone or the cassette and chainring(s) will probably be as well. Use a decent chain lube on a clean chain. A more expensive chain apparently also lasts longer and could cost less in the long run.
  2. Looks nice. Please add a green colour, after all, most cactuses are green
  3. Shimano and SRAM used to have different pull ratios, but I think they are now the same / similar enough for 12x that you can mix and match like that without issues.
  4. Not AXS specific, I think, but might help: Installing Garbaruk RD cage on SRAM rear mech | Garbaruk Online Store
  5. I haven't yet, but I'll probably add a bit just to make it a little thinner.
  6. Some shops are definitely better than others. I can do most of the basics, but will take my bike in for things like wheel truing and also for jobs I don't have the tools for, e.g. pressfit bb and wheel bearings.
  7. Looks like repackaged Ryder sealant, possibly.
  8. I bought some of the blue Fug-it from Midas. It works well, but it's a little too thick and can cause a bit of a wobble / imbalance. Can I thin it with water or would anti-freeze (glycol) be better? They have a thinner (white) cycling specific variant which I've used, and it works well, but the LBS doesn't stock it anymore.
  9. Nothing a little Shoe-goo can't fix

  11. Then black porcupine is definitely out of the question 😅
  12. Red Holstein was more than plenty for me a few weeks ago and I said no to an invite for the Forts loop. Oxwagon and Purple Cow are enough for me. Black Mamba is pretty tough for a 6km loop. A trail bike would be adequate there for a skilled rider imo.
  13. Plenty of elevation at 3Rivers / Crossways, but mostly long tedious climbs. Purple cow down is fun though Don't think you need an enduro bike though. Hayterdale isn't too far away, and I hear that's pretty decent too.
  14. It's been 2 years for me and I'm feeling the itch 😅
  15. Thanks, will have a look Probably a job for the pros though
  16. Cool. How do you know to get the spacing correct when putting it back together? I suppose the picture might explain it
  17. Thanks, I think you're probably correct. I'm not really confident enough to do it, but curious anyway. From what side would you knock the axle out? Drive side? The wheel spins fine, but the bearings do feel a bit rough, so they probably need replacing at some stage. Sounds like it's an entire assembly (axle and freehub).
  18. Yeah, that's what I was expecting, but both ends of the axle have the indents for an Allen key and the axle seems to be one piece.
  19. I had to Google how to use a chain whip today - it's been so long that I had forgotten
