  1. With all this hype around Zwift (and yes I am using it and loving it!) ...why can a really simple thing like average speed not be be displayed on the screen. That just blows my mind!
  2. I have never pushed beyond 2 hours on an indoor trainer and I have been using them extensively for a number of years...it is more than a mental issue. Certain parts of my anatomy seems to really complain after 2 hours! Plus the sweat and...ok just eeuw stuff! Let's be honest..2 hours on an indoor trainer is in my opinion probably equal to 2.5-3 hrs outside due to no freewheeling. You all agree?
  3. Thx for all the feedback! I'm the office at the moment, will check on my training laptop tonight! I am using a Tacx Flux (smart), so I can connect my Garmin if I want to. Guess I should do that to get avg speed etc. Pitty it is not on the screen. Saw a few riders on Zwift already doing 100km+..sheesh that takes some serious ***!! One thing I did pick up was some some rides doing near impossible speeds up the 7% climb! I know I am no pro, but some guys seem to be doing 4-5 times my speed..does not sound possible! I guess some trainers (non smart, no resistance) can do that.
  4. Under my activity in Zwift there is a download link which generates a fit file. I imported it into Strava and it says it is a partially corrupted file but what is imported is only the 19.8 km. So even though I did a 57km ride...only a part got saved. Does this sort of thing happen often? Losing a part of your ride? Eish.... Also my previous question applies..is there no average speed or watt on the screen whilst your riding?
  5. Ok some feedback...(and still I may just be blond newby).. I was always connected to the Internet (i.e. riders everywhere). Attached is a screenshot of what the zwift.com page says. As you can see..there is a 19.8 kn activity and then the rest at the top...hwo do I get the top part as a whole ride into Strava.
  6. OK so I did my first Zwift ride. Not sure if I am doing things wrong or it is how it is supposed to work, but I have a few questions/concerns. I selected the "PRL Full loop" and decided I will simply stop when I had enough. Here are some points: There is no average speed or average watt anywhere on the screen. Surely that is basic information that should be displayed; I was happy riding along and every now and then at the bottom of the screen you need to pick a direction. Sometimes I left it, sometimes I changed direction. All good here! However at around the 20km mark I decided to just randomly press a left arrow and surely the computer was happy to let me turn left. This where things I THINK went wrong. I ended my session at around 58km. Going to activity screen under activities it only lists the ride I did up to 20km. It seems after I decided to press my own arrow, it no longer recorded my ride as an activity. At the top of the screen it did indeed show total km ridden as 58km...but only the first 20km seems to "officially" register and upload to Strava. Does this mean "free riding" or "not sticking to the route" is not considered official riding and thus no logs to Strava? Or...I am just blond and have no idea how to work this program! Will appreciate any and all feedback to this Zwift newby!
  7. Thank you all for the feedback. If you decide a route (i.e. 29km) and want to do it twice..do you actually then do two separately registered rides (i.e. on strava it will show 2 x 29km routes). That would be silly if you want to do a 10km route 4x times...(please bear with me if I sound completely uninformed!) I will use a Core i7 laptop with a dedicated 2GB graphics card and a 8MBPs ADSL line.
  8. All, Just invested in the new Tacx Flux Smart Trainer and now want to use the capabilities of the smart trainer. I have been using TTS4 for quite some time (I have a Tacx Genius) but want explore Zwift. I have been reading up on it but I cannot seem to find answers on my questions. Zwift seems to evolve around online riding with other Zwift riders around the globe. Does that mean I can only ride at predetermined rides/events? If I come home and decide to ride, will I be able to? If so, will there be other riders? Will I be on my own if I do not join pre-scheduled events? In essence I want more info on how the rides are initiated. How are the routes determined? There seems to be only two worlds (Watopia and Richmond) but seems to be VERY short. I generally do rides between 40km-70km. Are such routes available? Is there enough climbing on these routes if I want to do some good hill training? How steep are the hills? Is Zwift vs TTS4 Real Life Videos worth it? Some feedback will be REALLY appreciated.
  9. The teams are on the way back home. 2 bikes seem to be lost...out of 3 remaining bikes 1 bike damaged and frame will probably need to be replaced. Some sadness all around but hey we move on and next year will be back!!! Nothing can kill the spirit of MTB'ing!
  10. So far 3 recovered..2 stolen.
  11. Good news and an update: 1. Teams are on the way to McKenzie to have a chat to Farmer Glen about moviong entry to next year. Let's hope!!! Good news... A bike has been found. The Cannondale Lefty. Went back to the area where trailer was found and upon scouting the surrounding bushes another bike was found in the middle of a large haak-en-steek bush! I suspect they dumped it there to wait for town to calm down and then collect tonight..Glad to have found it...OUCH to get out!! But at least some more smiles doing the rounds
  12. The bikes that were taken: Santa Cruz Black 29er (Tallboy) Giant Anthem Black and White 26er Cannondale Scalpal Lefty Black 26er
  13. Oh Ps: The Giant's were found....I'd rather not comment... :-)
  14. I will get exact bike details... So far I have 1 Cannondale Scalpal Lefty Black Rest to follow Thx!!
  15. I guess bikes inside house is the best option...don't know details, perhaps no space etc. But still...the whole town is a buzz of riders, bikes and spectators! So unecessary!!! Damn I am so upset!
  16. So yesterday a couple of mates of mine (3 teams) went down to Underberg for the Sani2C that starts today. Kombi and 5 very expensive MTB's on a trailer. Stayed in a guesthouse overnight close to start with MTB's locked on trailer. By now I am sure you all are guessing what I am about to type. This morning all fired up and ready to go and .....drums rolling...no trailer outside guesthouse!!!! Shock!!! Somebody simply towed the trailer and bikes away overnight. Called the cops immediately and they really took the situation seriously since I assume they know what this race means to the local community. Within one hour received a call...trailer found within 1km from the guesthouse. That's the good news! Trailer is upside down in dip next to road with one bike pinned underneath. That's the bad news! 4 bikes still missing!! Horror!! Seems they were able to get 4 bikes of the trailer and simply push it into a deep dip and trailer overturned. Within another 20 minutes received another call from cops...a patrol car in the local township saw a guy riding on a very expensive MTB. When he saw the cops he jumped off the bike and ran...description of bike was given and YES it is on of the 5. So now we one bike recovered, one damaged bike under trailer and 3 bikes still missing. Sani2C is now history! Sadness!!!!
  17. OK cool..I will follow up with CWCYCLES but let me iterate again that I have received nothing but excellent service from them in the past. So please do not think I want to put them in a bad light at all.
  18. I bought it at CWCYCLES...but I do not want to discredit them. I have bought so many things from them before. And they do give great service. I do feel however that this fact should be clearly mentioned on their website. Can I realy ask for a refund since I went for a ride with them and it is as such not "new" anymore? PS: I did pick while googling the issue that Ritchey makes clamps specifically for square rails. But I see no reason to change my KCNC seatpost.
  19. Rails are probably more rectangular than square I guess but is most definitely not oval or round. I did something I guess I shouldn't have....being really excited about the saddle I still mounted it and went for a ride but it didn't feel secure so I removed it. Makes it impossible to return now. Less white than before now. But it most definately did not feel secure on my existing seatpost. Are you guys saying that it should? I think I should have taken Fizik...was riding on Fizik Arione..lovely saddle but quite heavy. Hence the new one.
  20. I bought the Selle Italia SLR Kit Carbon 2011. A mere 115g...a beautiful saddle...now just lying in my drawer PS: Just looked at website of retailer. All it says is: "•Rails: Carbon". Should say "•Rails: SQUARE Carbon
  21. Ok...I am not a techie! I am not a bicycle part expert! I love cycling, and thats it!! So a few weeks back I decided I am buying myself a really fancy saddle, the kind a scale struggles to weigh! Many R's further my saddle arrives at home. Very excited I was ready to mount my new saddle. Uh oh!!! Something is not adding up. I have a seatpost (KCNC...YUM YUM) that fits perfectly around the rail of my existing saddle...A ROUND RAIL! Here I am looking at my new (not being affected by gravity)saddle and its rails are square! O crap! My existing seatpost can only handle round rails and not square rails. Imagine the dissapointment. For the fun of it I went and looked at my other bike's seatpost. Same issue! Square rails ARE A BIG PROBLEM! Back to the web and nowhere does it meantion this addle has a square rail and the photo also doesn't quite show it. Even went to KCNC's website and they do not mention that their seatpost can only handle round rails. Is this really such a big issue? Am I missing something? Or should online retailers (the most famous one in SA, and I love them)not mention this when selling a rather expensive saddle?
  22. Ok I was on page 1 still...DUH!!!! Must learn to refresh page! Must learn to refresh page! (Ok I think I will remember now)
  23. Best would be to PM CCD for prices. I think if you search for Concept wheels inside classifieds you will find his adds. R7400/set (58mm) I believe. CCD?
  24. Sorry don't know what DengFu is...Just know this bike is Deng nice!!
  25. Hi All, The best person to person to give prices would be CCD but what I can say is that any other integrated seatpost full carbon frame costs easily R15K upwards. Expect half that. Same for the wheels. 58mm full carbon wheels again can easily be R15K. Expect close to half that. And to give you some idea...these wheels are clinchers and with lightweight tyres and tubes weighs only 166g more than my Easton Tempest II deep section carbon tubby wheels. Awesome!!
