  1. Unfortunately could not do that..I must have sometime in the past (even perhaps a previous lifetime) registered with Rouvy since it stated I have no 14 day trial period anymore. Sure I could have used a "dummy" username to register but I did not...my bad..
  2. OK..so I purchased/subscribed to Rouvy...and..(and this is just my personal opinion)..it is horrible compared to the Tacx Desktop App. Does not even come close. Guess I need to justify this view right? 1. You are forced to use 2 Apps Rouvy Workouts and Rouvy AR..and a vague promise that at some point the two shall be merged; 2. The UI for Rouvy is generally really bad! OK I am in the IT development business so maybe I am too skeptical here; 3. Nowhere in Rouvy AR I can find a place to choose where I want to download my videos to. It seems to force it to go to my local C-drive (which is a small SDD..so bummer there); 4. Nowhere in Rouvy AR can I seemingly easily see the routes I downloaded with its associated profile (ok a UI thing..again maybe me too skeptical); 5. I cannot seem to be able to see in both Rouvy Apps what my avg speed is whilst training. I have to on screen swithc to it to get a report..that is poor; 6. The videos in Rouvy Workout, even the certified ones, are of absolutely terrible quality. I downloaded the HD (1080P) quality videos..there is no way these are HD. It is at its highest perhaps 480P then upscaled; 7. The videos in Rouvy AR is of good quality..BUT..the side of your screen seems to follow a fish eye lense approach..meaning as you cycle the side of your screen bends the whole time and objects "vibrate" horribly. Since I ride using a big screen TV..I was seasick after 10 minutes; Please..this is just my personal opinion after now using Tacx and Rouvy. I now understand why Tacx is so expensive and Rouvy soooo much cheaper. Tacx video quality and UI are leap years ahead of Rouvy..making it light years! So I purchased a full year ($120) subscription from Rouvy (yes my bad!!!!) but I am going to mail them asking of some sort of refund will be allowed. If not..buy buy money..but I am not going to use this App..sorry!
  3. Good to know you love Scotland
  4. I know..don't think they sell directly to the public right? Need a reseller (hence me thinking it now is CWC)..but hey I could be VERY wrong. Just that in most bikshops see very few Tacx's nowadays and way more Wahoo's (oh..and my LBS says he will sell and support Wahoo but no longer Tacx).
  5. So...I own a first generation Tacx Neo...and I may be in the market to replace...so far had a love/hate relationship with these trainers (I have owned many over the last 20+ years) and I have always been faithful to Tacx. Now..just a tad of doubt starting to creep in as my LBS no longer supports Tacx and I think (emphasis on think) it is dsitributed/owned by CWC/Cyclelab Cape Town (no longer Omnico)...and that has me worried (don't ask!). So it is either a Tacx Neo 2T or this..and I think THIS will win..any opinions?
  6. Great stuff...I just subscribed to Rouvy...let this new adventure begin! Will play this weekend and see how one can join races etc. Looking forward to it.
  7. Tx for all the feedback!! Appreciate! Question 4: Am I correct in deducing that you will be able to see each other (i.e. distance ahead/behind) ALL the time but this is seen in two different ways: i.) As an AR "graphic" rider literally in front of you when doing an AR route; ii.) As a "marker" on the elevation graph (in this case does it show how far the person is ahead/behind)?
  8. Wow...Not sure if someone can answer (apologies but these are features Tacx offers): 1. Are their videos 1080P? 2. What does a certified video mean? 3. Their webpage link for viewing the catalogue for AR routes does not work. Is thsi feature only available on selected routes? 4. If for example my son and I ride the same route at the same time each on their own trainer/PC will we see each other in real time and have a go at each other (sort of a race)? 5. Can you download the videos or is it streaming only? 6. Does it automatically upload to Strava? 7. Has anyone have experience on Tacx Desktop App and Rouvy and give a comparison view? 8. Are there enough routes to cover all facets of training (not just pure climbing routes all the time)? 9. Are the routes decent distances (i.e. at least 30km and more)?
  9. Am I right: Rouvy asks $10/month (cuurent special) for up to 3 family members? We are in my family currently 3 riders, each with their own trainer/PC combo. And for each of us I am paying a separate subscription to Tacx for their Tacx desktop app. It sounds like Rouvy is a LOT cheaper? Or am I mssing some fine print somewhere? That is often the case. I have never ridden/used Rouvy so not sure how it compares/competes with Tacx. Please let's just ignore boring Zwift.
  10. I am using Tacx Desktop App now. Also a huge variety of videos/routes (up to 1080P). Not sure how it compares to Rouvy (I think Rouvy offers some form of augmented reality) which is great.
  11. Another opinion (don't shoot me)...if average speed is such a non issue why are hundreds and hundreds of people asking for it on every possible Zwift forum there is. Personally whether it is accurate or not is totally irrelevant. I would like to have it as just one way of a personal benchmark of how hard I ride. Is it really that difficult to add?
  12. Yup..that's why I cancelled. Just giving my personal opinion here. Surely nothing wrong with that :-)
  13. Let me rephrase: Some of the worlds are really small..so when wanting to do say 40km+ there aren't many options except repeating stuff. Also, if you do not want to focus on climbing and say do a flat-ish route options get even less. Obviously you can ride 40km+ flat-ish routes everyday..you will just end up repeating the same routes over and over again. No arguing in that. But of that is not a problem for people...by all means go for it. Zwift wouldn't have thousands of people riding at the same time if this issue was such a problem. It is just my opinion.
  14. Do you think with the possible price hike we will finally get the most complex code Zwift change ever had to tackle and overcome? It is called showing your average speed when riding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is apprently impossible to achieve, way to difficult to develop and is seemingly a requirement NOBODY actually wants!! Sorry but I lost my love for Zwift a long time ago. I again tried it for two months during lockdown and yeah still the same routes same everything. Did the meetups all of it. It is cool but man doing the same routes over and over and over again just gets too much after a while.
  15. We were riding next to each other and just passed the robot in front of Voortrekker monument up to the top to turn left at HeartFelt Arena. A bus was stationary next to the road. We passed the bus and saw a man walking in the middle of the road towards the bus and we assumed he was the bus driver. As we passed him, he pushed my friend of his bike. By the time I was able to stop, unclip and turn around I saw the guy grabbing bike from fallen partner and started running and jumping over rails next to road into bushes. Partner made unfortunate error to go after bike just to realise the guy who stole the bike had a partner hiding in bushes next to road. They both attacked him and then took his cellphone. I went into bushes (yes not a good idea) and saw the guys running with bike towards Old Jhb road. It was safer to call it quits and return to Eeufees where we called for help with my cellphone. .
  16. Me and my partner got attacked this morning on top of Eeufees Road at 5AM. On the bridge just passed the Voortrekker Monument Robot. He got pushed of the bike whilst riding next to me. Took his bike and cell phone and ran into bushes! Be careful in that area!
  17. Arrghh..brings up the conundrum I have been battling for a while. Is it really still worth it? Doesn't anyone find that it becomes too repetitive? Let's be honest..there are 4 worlds of which a certain two is repeated 80% of the time. In terms of routes you are therefore quite limited. Sure there are lotsa add-ons and features to make it more interesting. Just wondering if it is still worth it. More routes would have me become a life member. Think Rouvy and/or Tacx apps with a ton of real life videos are becoming more appealing (and yes they will now be cheaper than Zwift!)
  18. Has anyone compared Zwift vs Tacx vs Rouvy. I understand that each app will have its strengths/weaknesses. Zwift is just "too small" and too repetitive when doing the normal routes (not workouts). If generally do 40km minimum per indoor ride and using Zwift you end up riding the same routes/road over and over and over and over again. The Zwift "world" is VERY small. I have been using Tacx for years (TTS4) and although their software (not the desktop version) is buggy their Real Life Videos appeal to me. I don't mind riding against myself. So I have spent a small fortune over the years on Tacx videos. TTS4 however now is End of Life and I thus want to switch to the new Tacx Desktop (plenty RLV's)! How does Tacx desktop RLV compare to Rouvy RLV's? Does Rouvy has a fairly large pool of HD Video Rides to choose from? Flat and Hilly options? There is no library on the website. to check what they have? Also..must you download a video before you ride (i.e. it doesn't stream)? Apologies for all the questions..
  19. Awesome...but if you "hack" the file, do you not end up on a route that hardly has any people on them? I.e. most will ride what is scheduled right?
  20. Yeah..would love to know how you can ride London on a day that has Watopia scheduled?
  21. Yeah both the Wahoo Kickr and Tacx Neo makes quite a dent to your pocket. Look the Flux is brilliant and I enjoyed training on it. It is just a fact that they had some hardware issues. However they will honour the warranty no problem. Not knowing your budget limit I can also recommend the Bushido Smart. My wife has literally cycled 1000km's on hers and not a single issue to report. Sure it is not a flywheel and requires a tire on trainer. Yes you sacrifice the quietness you get by buying a flywheel trainer, but it is a good quality trainer. You also need to know, the cheaper the trainer the less resistance you get. The Neo easily does 10% and up gradients whilst th3 Flux and Bushido will take you to around 7% I think. Still enough for most people. The bottom line is in order to use Zwift, you will need a Smart Trainer. Preferably one that can do ANT+ and Bluetooth. Zwift Supports both.
  22. The Flux will work perfectly! I had one...until I had to return it! Suspect the belt cam off inside. Apparently a problem they are well aware off but was seemingly fixed with the latest models. In my case I made an arrangement and got myself the Tacx Neo..what a machine! Perfect! Best I ever had! Unfortunately it is pricey and outside the price range many people are willing to pay for an indoor trainer.
  23. Correct. Discovery no longer supports Strava. So either have a watch (i.e. Gear S3, Apple watch) that records your training (not too accurate and is only heart rate based) or add a Garmin to your trainer and record that as well. Discovery supports watches and Garmin. Only issue sometime sis that your trainer may upload to Strava as well as your Garmin which may result in double uploads (a schlep I know!)
  24. All good . How long is your extension cable? Too long can also cause power issues. Shorter = better. Have you tried (just for a test) plugging dongle directly into laptop, put laptop on a bar chair next to you and test if it does the same? If not, you know it is the cable. Also...are there any other signals in the room (i.e. bluetooth music etc). Although it should not impact this at all, worth a try to switch off as well.
  25. See you are using a PC. Do you use the front USB ports or back? I also bought the dongle from sportsworld, have a Flux using an extension cable plugged into a USB 3.0 port at the back of my PC and the dongle lying on the ground about 4 feet from my Flux trainer. Have no problem whatsoever. Front USB ports are known to give issues
