  1. I guess bikes inside house is the best option...don't know details, perhaps no space etc. But still...the whole town is a buzz of riders, bikes and spectators! So unecessary!!! Damn I am so upset!
  2. So yesterday a couple of mates of mine (3 teams) went down to Underberg for the Sani2C that starts today. Kombi and 5 very expensive MTB's on a trailer. Stayed in a guesthouse overnight close to start with MTB's locked on trailer. By now I am sure you all are guessing what I am about to type. This morning all fired up and ready to go and .....drums rolling...no trailer outside guesthouse!!!! Shock!!! Somebody simply towed the trailer and bikes away overnight. Called the cops immediately and they really took the situation seriously since I assume they know what this race means to the local community. Within one hour received a call...trailer found within 1km from the guesthouse. That's the good news! Trailer is upside down in dip next to road with one bike pinned underneath. That's the bad news! 4 bikes still missing!! Horror!! Seems they were able to get 4 bikes of the trailer and simply push it into a deep dip and trailer overturned. Within another 20 minutes received another call from cops...a patrol car in the local township saw a guy riding on a very expensive MTB. When he saw the cops he jumped off the bike and ran...description of bike was given and YES it is on of the 5. So now we one bike recovered, one damaged bike under trailer and 3 bikes still missing. Sani2C is now history! Sadness!!!!
  3. OK cool..I will follow up with CWCYCLES but let me iterate again that I have received nothing but excellent service from them in the past. So please do not think I want to put them in a bad light at all.
  4. I bought it at CWCYCLES...but I do not want to discredit them. I have bought so many things from them before. And they do give great service. I do feel however that this fact should be clearly mentioned on their website. Can I realy ask for a refund since I went for a ride with them and it is as such not "new" anymore? PS: I did pick while googling the issue that Ritchey makes clamps specifically for square rails. But I see no reason to change my KCNC seatpost.
  5. Rails are probably more rectangular than square I guess but is most definitely not oval or round. I did something I guess I shouldn't have....being really excited about the saddle I still mounted it and went for a ride but it didn't feel secure so I removed it. Makes it impossible to return now. Less white than before now. But it most definately did not feel secure on my existing seatpost. Are you guys saying that it should? I think I should have taken Fizik...was riding on Fizik Arione..lovely saddle but quite heavy. Hence the new one.
  6. I bought the Selle Italia SLR Kit Carbon 2011. A mere 115g...a beautiful saddle...now just lying in my drawer PS: Just looked at website of retailer. All it says is: "•Rails: Carbon". Should say "•Rails: SQUARE Carbon
  7. Ok...I am not a techie! I am not a bicycle part expert! I love cycling, and thats it!! So a few weeks back I decided I am buying myself a really fancy saddle, the kind a scale struggles to weigh! Many R's further my saddle arrives at home. Very excited I was ready to mount my new saddle. Uh oh!!! Something is not adding up. I have a seatpost (KCNC...YUM YUM) that fits perfectly around the rail of my existing saddle...A ROUND RAIL! Here I am looking at my new (not being affected by gravity)saddle and its rails are square! O crap! My existing seatpost can only handle round rails and not square rails. Imagine the dissapointment. For the fun of it I went and looked at my other bike's seatpost. Same issue! Square rails ARE A BIG PROBLEM! Back to the web and nowhere does it meantion this addle has a square rail and the photo also doesn't quite show it. Even went to KCNC's website and they do not mention that their seatpost can only handle round rails. Is this really such a big issue? Am I missing something? Or should online retailers (the most famous one in SA, and I love them)not mention this when selling a rather expensive saddle?
  8. Ok I was on page 1 still...DUH!!!! Must learn to refresh page! Must learn to refresh page! (Ok I think I will remember now)
  9. Best would be to PM CCD for prices. I think if you search for Concept wheels inside classifieds you will find his adds. R7400/set (58mm) I believe. CCD?
  10. Sorry don't know what DengFu is...Just know this bike is Deng nice!!
  11. Hi All, The best person to person to give prices would be CCD but what I can say is that any other integrated seatpost full carbon frame costs easily R15K upwards. Expect half that. Same for the wheels. 58mm full carbon wheels again can easily be R15K. Expect close to half that. And to give you some idea...these wheels are clinchers and with lightweight tyres and tubes weighs only 166g more than my Easton Tempest II deep section carbon tubby wheels. Awesome!!
  12. Sorry eyecandy for using your name but I am sure from the comments here you are as beautiful as this bike Forgiven?
  13. My new machine. Beautiful!! Thx for the great service CCD!! This bikes easily costs half the price than any other known brand. Contact CCD for great service guys!
  14. Somebody mentioned to me today that someone died in the race after an accident. Is that true?
  15. Just heard that Grant Cycles in Centurion closed doors a few days back. Sad day indeed! I was epxecting that to happen but it is still sad to see a shop that's been around for many many many years closing doors.
  16. Whoohoo! Remember the words: To boldly go where no man has gone before... Just ordered the Merdia 96 Team Carbon. Sabie Pre-Ride, here I come! I will measure my inseam tonight but bikeshop says I should take a M frame (I am 1.81cm) and ride 56cm road frame.
  17. OK...two bikeshops just called and offered me the following frames: Shop 1. The Meride 96 NINETY-SIX Carbon Team-D...BEAUTIFUL. Any complaints? Right now in spot nr 1. Price R20K Shop 2. Specialized Epic Full Carbon Team. R30K. R10K difference..Sounds a bit steep for Epic. Is it worth that price? Is Merida that much "worse"?
  18. I want a dual suspension MTB with a rear shock that pretty much has complete lockout...my existing MTB uses a Fox RP23 rear shock and it bounces around all of the time, regardles of the setting. Perhaps some people are happy with this, I am not. I am looking for a full Carbon MTB. I honestly do not know a lot of brands so I have no idea about SantaCruz or Morewood. Is it full Carbon? Price more or less? It seems a good frame will be in the region of R20K?
  19. Top Fuel...from what perspective would you recommend the Epic? Burry Stander would also recommend and Epic but he hardly spends more that 3-4hrs on a bike. Me on the other hand look more towards 4-6 hours. Is the Epic not more for your hardcore I want to win comfort not that important but weight is kinda bike? I have to ask...only way I will get proper feedback.
  20. Thx. I have seen you ad but you are selling the entire bike. I am just interested in frame (and maybe cranks).
  21. Hi All, I have an itch to buy myself a new MTB frame. My existing MTB has SRAM X-0 so I think a frame only is enough. Question is what to buy? In my view I narrowed it down to: Specialized Stumpjumper Specialized Epic Scott Spark 10 Any other really good frames? Now my dilemma is which is the best? The websites seems to categorise MTB's by XC, Trail etc..Now what exactly does that mean? Example: Which Specialized is the best to do the Sabie Experience with? Is it XC or Trail? Remember I am a social rider and have no intensions to win :-) I guess comfort comes first..but weight also very important. Next dilemma is where to buy? So many bike shops have closed down..So many rumours of ones about to follow. Eish!! I also have no idea what shops specialize (excuse the pun)in what brands? Anyfeedback will be appreciated.
  22. Ok, I know there has been a multitude of topics on the issue. However, most of them generally asks..How? I am more interested in references for actual truck transports used. I am aware of 2 companies that take bikes down to the Argus. Redline Logistics and a new one I saw on the hub a few days ago called "The Bike Migration" I have personally used Redline for last number of years and I have had no issues whatsoever. In fact I can recommend them. Only issue is that the bike drop off and collection in Jhb is very far from my house. The Bike Migration is situated in Kayalami and is much closer (and slightly cheaper). Has anyone used them before? Opinions/views?
  23. Just bought myself DT SWISS XRC 100 front fork from CRC. Got a lbs quote of R10500. Paid close to R6000 ALL included, (VAT everything!). Absolutely worth it!!
  24. Well you have my vote for PTA! Thx Wolverine, glad I could add a face to someone well known on the hub!
  25. I am planning to test ride this racing steed over the weekend. Can't wait! I must admit that the new gear shifting mechanism of SRAM will probably take a while to get used to. It still confuses me....
