  1. I followed https://www.wirelesshack.org/top-sports-addons-for-kodi.html and although screenshots weren't 100% aligned it was still pretty much straight forward. What I struggled with was the UI of the Aspire Build and how to navigate to TV SPORTS. Once I got that mastered, it was fairly straight forward.
  2. On Apple TV - I doubt. For starters you cannot run a VPN on an Apple TV. You will have run the VPN on your router if it supports it. I have also never tried Kodi with additional builds on Apple TV. So far it works fine on Windows PC and Android Media players
  3. In South Africa we cannot subscribe to Eurosport or Discovery+ to watch live cycling. With GCN+ closing down little option but to accept add ridden, boring commentary DSTV. Kodi offers an option where you run Kodi for example in my case on my Windows PC, installed the Aspire Build on top of Kodi, run my VPN via the UK - and viola - Kodi brings up a whole lot of movie, tv and sports channels to watch live. Eurosport 1 & 2 being included. Ok I make it sound simple - it did take a bit of figuring out and also some advice from Hubbers who have done it already - but fairly simple in the end. Got most of the instructions here: https://www.wirelesshack.org/top-sports-addons-for-kodi.html
  4. Got the whole Kodi/Aspire thing sorted. Works perfectly and currently watching Eurosport 2. Free!
  5. Got the whole Kodi/Aspire via VPN sorted..works perfectly. And free. Currently watching Eurosport 2
  6. I think I got it! I see Eurosport 1 & 2 - Whoop whoop!!!!!! It is only SD (not sure if it streams in HD - I did select the HD channel) I assume this is where cycling will be shown?
  7. Making progress!! Seeing only this:
  8. Tx but Sorry - but scroll across from where? Next to " My Movies"? There is an arrow but nothing happens? Would really appreciate any help
  9. Hi @Red Bird. Trying to figure this out on my side. I followed the URL you gave and I assume there has been some updates as the screenshots from the URL is different to what I am seeing. Nonetheless - I installed it (Doomsday Simple Wizard) and then the Aspire V2 build. But where do you select Eurosport 1/2? All I am getting is:
  10. So last night I took a leap of faith and decided to give myWhoosh a go! Sjo...17Gb download - but all cool. I have enough bandwidth. I know I only did one ride, but I must admit I was thoroughly impressed. First impressions last..right? System: i7 (9700), 32Gb Memory, RTX 2060 Super. I selected a flat course 2x laps (Alula 16km per lap, only 54m ascent). Wahoo Kickr v5. What I liked: Set all graphics to ultra (highest). I got VERY smooth graphics, running at 30fps 99% of the time. Very short pauses about twice in my ride but hardly even noticed. Graphics quality is GREAT. Perhaps not entirely at the level of Zwift - but darn close in my view. Screen layout very useful and informative. All telemetry present AND it shows avg speed of my ride (after 50 years, Zwift still does not show this) I linked ride to Strava - no issue. Not worried about Garmin Connect as my watch alos records and uploads to Garmin What I didn't like: Nothing much really! The telemetry between my Garmin and PC very different. It was a flat course and although I expect downhills to cause Garmin/MyWhoosh to be different, I did not expect it to be that much. After 30km my Garmin was nearly 4kms behind. Garmin showed 26km, MyWhoosh 30km. Not too worried as time in saddle is all that really counts. Very rapid changes when it comes to inclines/declines. I find Zwift more gradual, where MyWhoosh seems to change gradient and speed instantaneously. Not realistic. I will definitely use MyWhoos again! And it is FREE!!! Bye bye Zwift!!
  11. And watching Eurosport via Kodi is free?
  12. Except SA....well they do mention The Monopoly (Supersport) 🤮 Perhaps if Max launches and covers all the races similar to GCN AND they allow my SA card - I will consider a subscription.
  13. WB will start cycling streaming in Feb I think..but might only be US based and only certain events.
  14. Sorry..no. have friends there but asking them to subscribe for me per month leaves me somewhat uncomfortable. Even if I pay them back. All the above Kodi stuff seems like you need an IT degree to set up (which I have...so will give it a check perhaps). I am just a bit of a snob when it comes to quality. GCN had 1080P - and I had smooth streaming even with VPN. Is the Kodi route for cycling 1080P?
  15. So well summarized!!! Is there no way your bank (i.e Investec) can make your credit card (or virtual card) look like a UK card so you can subscribe to Discovery Plus 😞 😞 ...Anyone has a VPN for credit cards...LOL!!!
  16. Problem is the license to broadcast different sports are owned by different entities. And since chasing profits are much more important than sharing or working together - we will never see the service we so much seek. And as long as Thieves-TV (aka DSTV) holds the monopoly on sport in SA and forces a full premium package FULL OF CRAP down your throat, we will always be on the losing side.
  17. Yup - tried that too...same result 😞 Must pick up the card linked to my paypal account is ZA
  18. Ok so I just tried to subscribe and immediately tells me I cannot pay in my current territory. I.e. you would need a UK based Credit Card....Aaaaaarrgghhhh Back to the drawing board
  19. So....I have been looking at alternatives but seem to be hitting speedbumps. 1. I have a VPN setup - so that is sorted! 2. Only viable options seem to be Discover Plus in the UK. One can also go Eurosport - but basically same thing, same setup. 3. You cannot access or sign up for Discovery Plus as it detects when you access it via SA. Refer back to Point 1. VPN sorts that out. So..I can access the sign up page. 4. To cover all cycling similar to GCN you need to take the standard package. 7 Pounds/month. A lot more expensive than GCN but still a hellofalot cheaper than DSTV CRAP! Commentators are the old GCN commentators. Cool! Here comes the speedbumps... 5. My Android phone does not list Discovery Plus in the App store. It does list the Eurosport App but whether that is the app to stream live TV - I do not know. On my Windows PC - same thing. No discovery plus app but the Eurosport App (with/without live streaming - dunno) 6. My Android media player linked to TV has Discovery Plus but tells me it is not compatible with my device...sigh! 7. I am not sure whether signing up to Discovery Plus/Eurosport will require a UK Credit Card. I do not want to subscribe if I cannot fairly easy stream live TV on my PC, Phone or TV. Has anyone progressed further than me? I.e. Subscribe and test on devices?
  20. Thank you all. Appreciate the feedback. Tx @Spirog for sharing your story. As said not looking for any medical advice. Just other real world experiences 😁
  21. So..I am a pretty avid cyclist, 52 years old, do 4- 5 rides a week, 800+ km/month and participate in as many events as my pocket allows. Mostly MTB (i.e TransBaviaans, Sani2C etc) but did the 94.7 this weekend (my 22nd) just to keep the stats running. So went for my annual body check earlier this week that included a CT Angiogram (just dot t's and cross i's as I have BIG family history). My cholesterol is 3.3 (think that is pretty OK) but was then informed I have LAD 50%+ blockage and need to undergo physical angiogram today with a possible stent to be put in (PS rest of my heart is 100%). Quite a shock and I am nervous as hell!! Never had any symptoms whatsoever on bike - feeling healthy as a horse. If I end up with a stent - any effect on my training and event riding post this? Will I still be able to ride as usual with the odd hard heart rate push to max? Or..shoudl I look at tuning thinsg down and reside myself with much more relaxed riding?
  22. Sjo - how sad a situation it is when we are having real and honest discussions on what and how we should carry weapons for defence whilst out on a bike ride!!! WT*!!!!!!!! This is not right!! All we need is a high ranking government family member to be attacked on a bike - then maybe we can hope for change!
  23. Some changes I would recommend: 1. Scrap registration. It is rather useless and most us do not want to drive all the way out there for a quick paper exercise. Surely this process can be improved! 2. Do a quick poll - do riders prefer this route or the previous (easier) one. 3. Now changing the venue cannot be easy. The logistics to organise this in Joburg must be insane! BUT..I rather dislike this venue, especially now that the stadium is just there in the distance. 4. Consider a date change? November is HOT! Perhaps have this in Aug/Sept? 5. Better security/management of car guards. 6. What else? Most of the above not easy. But these are just suggestions.
  24. Perhaps an additional factor - not as BIG as safety etc - is the race difficulty. A couple of years ago it was a 92km event with most of the climbing in the first half with a much easier second half. Yesterday was 98km in sweltering heat with some REALLY hard climbs in the second half. In fact you do over 1000m of climbing in the last 45km. Now for many of us - WE LIKE THAT! But for a large set of the general "I ride ONCE a year" group of riders - this is a rather brutal ride. I saw a LOT of riders down on the road with SERIOUS CRAMPS during those last 3 hard climbs.
