  4. looks nice! great that it has a carbon fork. just check tire clearance is ok and see if you can get the bars swapped out for carbon
  5. the carbon will be more forgiving for certain. most alloy bikes come with all the components being allu - if you change the bars and seatpost to carbon this would make a pretty big difference to comfort - but at a cost. you might find it was a better idea to buy the carbon bike in the first place if you go that route as for tires, try get a bike with good clearance for large tires - that will allow you to run the pressures lower and increase comfort. the biggest think i can think of is the tires and having carbon CX bars to kill off the vibration - you hands will thank you for it
  6. i rode the 94.7 MTB race on my XC bike. I would have liked the suspension, but i think it goes against what a gravel bike is meant to be. In my mind XC bikes are designed to tear up clean smooth trails. Anything that gets too bumpy should be done on a MTB.
  7. I see this is a thread for people with class.. i have the Giant TXC SLR 2 so far it has been many fun miles!
  8. brand new and the brakes profile still drops lower than the fork arch reducing tire sizing options i have last gen record and with 25mm tires they only just don't touch the front brake by a ball hair. i still often get things stuck there because of the lack of space. this is not an issue with shimano or sram brakes on the same bike.
  9. @Thomo the do work with the Look Keo Pedals. but the cleating is not as positive as the original powertap pedals. i would not recommend this. go buy the zero float powertap cleats, they are black, not red. i found them to secure far better than the red. nb the zero float thing might not be everyones cup of tea though as for the pedals. i still very very much rave about them. so simple and easy to use. can move them from bike to bike without ever worrying. the app makes updating them easy to. just nb the IOS is easier to work with than android app.
  10. Bought them from a fellow hubber who got them new with his bike. was lucky!
  11. Hi All, i have a set of FSA Vision Metron 5D integrated bars. they came with a snazzy mount for my garmin which is great! however i would like to mount my Garmin Varia light below my garmin head unit (like garmin do with their mount) can someone help me 3D print a new out front mount that will accommodate both? the below pics are of the mount. and of the garmin mount - to give you an idea of what i would like to accomplish.
  12. if you ever gash your tire by 1mm or even up to 1cm (done that once hitting a pothole) you use the plastic piece to place inside the tire over the gash. this ensures your replacement tube does not bulge out of the hole and burst. i believe they now make stickers specifically designed to cover such holes
  13. i unashamedly ride with a saddle bag on my road bike - yes even during the 94.7 race i hate the look but prefer not having a weight in my back pocket. my ballas bag looks a lot like this 1x bomb + adapter, spare tube, 2x levers and a piece of plastic incase i slice the tire riding over glass. the piece of plastic has saved me more than once!
  14. i'm running Zwift on my 2011 macbook pro. it only has a 512mb card. below the min spec by half and it does ok, every now and then it stutters, but not enough to bug me. i was not expecting it to work at all! on a slightly different point i see i am now able to use my apple tv! loaded up and will try tomorrow. only downside is only being able to use 2x bluetooth sensors to record... so the kickr or P1 pedals for power + my phone linked to my garmin strap (this takes the Ant+ signal and converts it to bluetooth)
  15. give it a solid wipe with paint stripper and then respray. best way to ensure it does not scratch
  16. what does a respray cost?
  17. Head cold and a dry cough for me. lovely
  18. sorry to revive an old thread. did any legal action take place? what was the outcome?
  19. can i have one? i promise to be seen in the Cradle every weekend!
  20. local bike manufacturers please take note of this bike. if given the chance i would buy a bike showing the national flag. its awesome!
  21. ever done a TT? Rider had mentally prepared that entire day. in the moment i bet he had his head down giving it his all. imagine getting stopped and told to start over? doubt he would have been able to put out the same effort for a second time a shitty incident. i really do hope they push charges against the driver and subsequently the owner of the truck. the owner needs to be responsible for the drivers actions via a company code of conduct.
  22. Thanks for letting us know! i've been curious for a while now years ago we used to ride there, and only got told off once.
  23. Oh yeah a recent crash left me in need of a new Lid. http://www.ekoi.fr/en/configurateur-casque-ekoi?idModel=9 imported by EKOI online got a few extras to! gel pads, bug catching inner, flashing rear light(for early mornings), and aero lid for well because(maybe winter riding to keep the head warmer!) all for less close to half the local price, incl taxes and delivery (via EMS #yikes!) - but all arrived ok!
  24. use a blade and cut it open. then replace the battery and superglue shut. done it many times without any issue i think google has a guide to doing it. its very easy
